Ripoff snobby said lawnmower unrepairable after taking $52 to look at it. Had lost its muffler and only 3 yrs old. Muffler was there just not attached and needed to be screwed bolted back on. I paid $550 for this self propelled mower which ran great by the way. They said it was too basic a machine for them to work on and implied it was a cheap machine. Was told they could throw it away for me and go buy a new one. Balderdash I think by other reviews that a class action suit is definitely viable and would be successful. Other have also been taken for a ride. And the insulting way I was treated did not help. I am contacting the manufacturer MTD and will see if they agree with the disparaging treatment of one of their customers and slam on their product. A copy to the retailer Rona would not hurt as I am sure they also would not like it to hear their customers and product to be degraded. I presume the family that runs this business is happy "Nichol and Diming" in order to achieve profit. Do they really throw the "unrepairable" machines out or use their parts or just blatantly resell after the repair is done. They want a signature to offer up the product for their use. The Lawnmower Hospital is sick in a bad way... Brought my Mastercraft lawnmower in for a new blade replacement and a tune up. When I got it back, it took 6 pulls to start the machine ( it used to start on 3rd pull) brought it back and they tell me they started it by the third pull. When I go to pick up again I tried and it started on 3 so I bring it home. Yesterday it took 6 pulls then started with a bang and a puff of black smoke, and now the self propelled doesn't work as well as before. I give up. Bought a new mower today. Yesterday I called Lawnmower Hospital looking for the new Husqvarna 315x automower. The person on the other line was happy to tell me he had plenty in stock. I told him I was about an hour away and would see him then. Upon arriving, the sales people told me they had none in stock that the order would be arriving tomorrow. 2 hour round trip through rush hour, all because some idiot doesn't know how to read a computer. I have 3 Chain saws that needed the idle adjusted. Two of them where still on warranty. My Echo 355t I use almost daily and couldn't wait the week it would take for them to get to the carb adjustment. So I had only brought in the Husqvarna 372xp and 562xp. I have another saw I could use while those two are down. As it turns out they adjusted the carb on both my 562xp and 355t right then and there. Now all I have to do is wait on the 372 to get done and it puts me back in business. I'm super happy that they went above and beyond to ensure that my business keeps moving. I recently took my Honda lawnmower in to have it repaired. I dropped it off and was told that it would be two to three weeks to repair (no big deal), that I would receive text updates as to the status of the repairs. I was also told that the cost would roughly $110.00 plus parts. I received no notifications about the progress of my mower and finally 3 weeks later received a text and a phone call within minutes of each other to advise me my mower was ready. I went to pick it up, and to my surprise my expected $150.00 to $180.00 bill turned into a $235.00 dollar bill. There was no phone call, no communication, nothing until the lawnmower was ready. I have purchased two Echo products, a chainsaw and a blower vac, and both work great. I debated between Echo and husquavarna products and discussed the options with the staff. For me the selling feature was the 5 year warranty from Echo. The staff got the equipment ready while I waited and the service was great. I have not had any issues with the equipment so I have not had to use the service department here. I have also purchased parts here for other things and everything was good. read more

Update To The Lawnmower Hospital. I am pleased to say that I have a new Toro engine installed to replace the failed Tecumseh. At a minimum charge- thanks to Toro and Lawnmower hospital; I now have a snowthrower I can use again. The staff did a fast repair as well. I am very pleased!!! read more

Had my snow thrower in for repair and have purchased items there over the years. All staff were very accommodating, friendly and the repairs were done as requested. The only reason I could not go with 5 stars is that the lady who called required the blower be picked up that day or the next. Quite rude. P.S. It had not been ready but a week and a half. Perhaps some customer relations training might be in order. Otherwise, good place to do business. read more

I waited for 3 weeks for courier to pick up snowblower then I had to wait almost 2 months for regualr service to be done staff their told me it was 2-3 weeks then they said 5-7 weeks after i paid deposit and it was in shop on it only now i'm finally getting my snowblower back I dont recomend due to the lack of service and constistency with what employees spoke of. read more

I took my Honda lawnmower to the Lawnmower Hospital in Edmonton during the winter to fix a problem with the recoil starter kicking back when pulled. They told me that they were unable to find any problem but I would have to pay $205.47 for the time they spent checking the lawnmower. Since it was the middle of winter, I haven't tried the lawnmower until now..The entire recoil mechanism appears to be destroyed as the starter will no longer recoil and you are left standing with the pull cord fully extended. They should have told me that they lack the expertise to fix the problem rather than ripping me off in this manner. read more

I took my lawn mower in for an estimate, my lawn mower was not starting but it's a very good brand and it sat for a couple years in storage. When I took it in the lady at the front desk was very rude. I told her perhaps it could be a spark plug, she looked at me and rolled her eyes, and spouted out a whole bunch of other things. I understood that it would be $40 just to look at the lawn mower and if I decided to get it fixed from there, $40 will be deducted off the bill. After three weeks of my lawn mower being there, I called because I hadn't Heard anything from them, after being on hold for more than 20 minutes, I decided to go down myself. The same rude lady was at the desk and I told her that I had not heard anything about my lawn mower, she decided to get someone from the back. When they came back the man was very nice he told me it needed a brand-new carburetor plus a full tuneup the cost would be between $240-$280. I was shocked as I think I paid $300 for my lawn mower.I told him I was not going to get it fixed and just buy new one. They told me that they could dispose of the lawn mower for me. I didn't feel right with that, so they helped me load it into my car and I took at home. A week later My neighbour said he would look at it for me. He does small engine repair and said that they did not even open up the compartment where the carburetor was, it was still had the factory seal on it. All he did was clean up the spark plugs and the lawnmower worked perfectly. It took him a total of 10 minutes. I'm really shocked with this company I'm just disappointed with the service and how they could just lie to make money. read more

After dealing with this company and their third world mechanics I will never give them my business again. We had a second hand rototiller that needed a new engine. The Lawnmower Hospital installed a "supposedly" new motor. After 3 returns to their shop last year trying to get it to run I gave up. We had limited use of it for last season. This year the "supposedly" new motor is blowing blue smoke and running intermittently. Thanks for selling me an obviously re-conditioned motor and charging a new price for it. And the mechanics are unknowledgable, unhelpful and can't read any manuals as they don't speak English. read more
