I don't know how this place stays open. Yes, the BBQ, especially the brisket, is very good. The sides are fine... Green beans and baked beans are very good. Okra and onion rings/slices are good, too! But, oof, the prices. One sandwich, one side, one soft drink: $30+ dollars. 1/4 lb brisket, one side, one drink: $23. Maybe it is inflation, maybe it is the cost of staff (which, sadly, is mediocre service at best), maybe it is hubris... But imagine a family of four trying to eat a dinner here. We were visiting from California. Our friend insisted we try The Lazy Butcher, raving about the beef being locally raised. Wow, we had a great meal. I had the smashed burger with blue cheese and jam with a side of brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes. Absolutely delicious! My husband raved about his Oklahoma Smash burger. The staff was super courteous, and the prices were great considering the quality of the food. Some of the other reviews complain about the price. From our perspective the prices are very reasonable considering they raise their own beef. Love this place. Great space, great food, wonderful service. Five stars. read more

This place is a gem, quietly tucked away in an unsuspecting shopping area in evergreen, and it's definitely worth tracking down and walking in. I recently went with my dad and we picked up some duck confit that is deliciously covered in duck fat. We also at the bar and shared a Pilsner in the very welcoming bar while we perused the restaurants bbq menu. The ambience is inviting and informal, and the people who work here are beyond helpful and are so friendly. If you live in evergreen then you have to be going here, and if you're from out of town, you need to seek this place out and give it a try! read more

I came to the Lazy Butcher with my family of 10. We can be quite annoying to serve but Leslie was an absolute delight! She ran all over the place for us with a beautiful smile on her face. Our food came out so quickly and it was SO delicious! I didn't even think to take photos before we devoured everything. 10/10 would recommend the baby back ribs and the corn ribs! We love The Lazy Butcher and have been going since they opened. Their food is consistently delicious and has become our #1 spot to take friends and out-of-towners. We've tried everything on the menu, and love wings, meats, tallow fries! We've enjoyed whiskey dinners and the butcher shop and gift shop. Their steaks (ribeye and NY Strip) are our favorites. On our last trip we picked up a beef empañada that I'm still thinking about -- so good! read more

We decided to hit a BBQ place that was off the beaten path. This place has a little store/butcher shop in it. A self serve dinning and the full service bar. They do not have a separate fried for us celiac/gluten sensitive people. They do have gluten free buns and the kitchen knows to clean the grill and change gloves. I got the ribs. Super meaty and great smoke taste. I got hooked on the Memphis sweet bbq sauce. They are not the meat fall off the bone ribs. You have to dig in , but worth the mess. The Caroline mustard is not gluten fee. The country music and the older general store feel is calming and gives you that chill out and enjoy your day feel. My husband got the smash burger. Ribs and steak were delicious. Salads fresh and crisp. Drinks good, but then the rest of the experience falls way short. Design of the interior provides absolutely no ambiance; it has a cafeteria like feel. Went into bar to try & find some atmosphere. Instead found very loud music and even louder customer voices trying to be heard over music. Entry design is terrible. Everyone funneled into a small entrance trying to order, get into the butcher shop, and get further into restaurant. Self serve ordering is ok, understand trying to save on staff, but the congestion and lack of ambiance ruins the overall experience. The front desk needs to be moved away from the first 3 feet of the entrance to free up some space to enter. We felt prices were too high for this type of restaurant, better suited for high end, Good food vs bad atmosphere and design? We probably won't be coming back. read more

The first and only time I've eaten here was for dinner. I chose a table in the bar area. Within 15 minutes of us arriving, another customer, who was outside on the patio, pulled her pants down and rubbed her butt cheeks on the glass doors so all of the diners inside could see. None of the staff reacted at all. The customer then proceeded to come inside and order at a table with a man and a woman, as if nothing had happened at all. At first glance, this place seemed clean, respectable and updated. Nope. Shame on employees for not doing anything. In fact, the employees proceeded to talk and laugh with this customer. If you identify as Latino or Hispanic, I advise against visiting this establishment. After enjoying a pleasant hike with my family, we decided to stop by this place. Although I have never encountered racism before, it seems to have become part of my experience now. The hostess was quite rude to me, and while I initially thought she might just be having a bad day, the waitress was even more disrespectful. I barely finished my sentence before she walked away from me. After my party returned from the restroom, I informed them my experience. After that we decided to leave because we felt as though we were being treated like we had rages. I can understand if someone has a dislike for people from different cultures or backgrounds, but as a restaurant, it is essential to set aside personal biases and perform your job professionally. As a proud Spanish and American citizen who pays taxes and contributes to making America great again, I am ashamed of this experience. read more

I still think they have really good food. We used to enjoy sitting in the cowboy lounge with music, TVs and servers. They recently banned kids so we are relegated to the fast casual dining area. I HATE fast casual. If I'm going to a restaurant I like to have a server. The dining area is fine but sort of sterile. We've only been twice since they changed these rules and the the fast casual had our apps come out with the dinner. Drinks had to be ordered by walking to the bar. Really disappointed. read more

Dining in here is great. The staff are friendly, the food is good. But don't order takeout. We ordered several pounds of various meats, and a full rack of ribs costing $40. Half the rack came completely dried out and overdone. The meat literally made cracking noises when separating the bones--it was inedible. I called and requested a refund on just half the rack; the manager was very apologetic and said he would issue a refund, but never did; I waited 10 days but no credit was issued. So I called again, ace the manager said he would refund the entire rack. Again, he never did. So if you're going to dine here, just eat in, don't get carry out. Too bad, I was hoping they'd be as good a carry-out option as Fountain BBQ was, we never had an issue with them. This was our first carry-out experience with The Lazy Butcher, and it will be our last. We'll be buying most of our meat from The Evergreen Market henceforth. Got carry-out ribs, slaw, and chipotle potato salad. It was all good but the ribs were really meaty and flavorful.

We went to this restaurant on a Sunday June 8th, 2025. There were very few customers in the restaurant, and we were told to go outside and be seat ourselves! There were six of us and it took 20 minutes before we even got someone to come to our table! We asked for water and the waiter brought us two glasses and then stopped coming to our table. The door was opened to the restaurant and a rat went from the outside into the kitchen. At this point we had been there for 30 minutes and only two glasses of water had been brought to our table of six people. When we tried to tell someone about the rat and we were ignored we left the restaurant! The health department should close this restaurant down immediately! read more

I wanted to love this place but unfortunately I didn't. When we went we stood waiting at the front for 10+ minutes not realizing that we could've walked to the back to get table service. The food itself was just not good if you're into BBQ at all. I had the sausage and brisket. None of the sauces were great and the portions were so small for BBQ. The food was good, but the process unusual. To many, it might not be a problem, but paying for your meal up front is not an issue, BUT their system asks for the tip at this time. I prefer to tip for service AFTERWARDS. Leaving cash after the meal may be the solution. While the burger is one of their specialties, I would prefer a single burger option, in lieu of the double burger, since it is very difficult to eat a double as the contents tend to slide out out of the bun and is too thick for some to eat. Stopped for lunch. Had a Brisket sandwich. I am sorry to say I am very disappointed. It is small sandwich with very little meat. The meat in my sandwich was over cooked, dry, stringy and tough.
