Have to give this place 5 stars and our favorite place to eat as a family. I'm from Texas, so the BBQ doesn't knock my socks off best I ever had, but it is good. The half sampler plate is the best bang for your buck in the Denver area and comes with so much food. It feeds me, my wife, and 3 kids twice for $60. Food: best bbq I've had in Colorado to date. Try their ribs, turkey, shrimp and chicken. Excellent green chili and awesome tortillas. Brisket kicks butt, too, but their poultry and seafood is where they truly shine. Service was good. It's an interesting little spot, cute. We picked our own seats out on the back patio. We stopped here before a show at the Red Rocks. I had the raspberry blonde 4 noses beer. Very good, very light and refreshing. Cute outdoor patio next to park area. The burnt ends weren't impressive but maybe it's just because I've been spoiled in Missouri and Kansas. Chicken wings okay. I love the food at the Genesee Pub, but they have taken to up charging for things that used to be included with your order. Example, ordered a baked potaato, the waiter asked want butter, bacon bits, and cheese. Yes, I wanted all the fixin`s. The bill came and I learned that butter added cost $.50, cheese $.50, and bacon cost an extra $1. So when you order something ask how much extra something costs. read more

The wait staff was friendly. The place was pretty packed for 8 PM in a strip mall. The back patio seems like it was pretty great. They had live music. We meat inside because it was quite rainy. The sandwiches were a bit on the small side and I don't think anybody was very impressed with the barbecue outside of those who ordered the ribs . But, the ribs were great. The coleslaw has a sweetness to it, with apples and pineapple cut up in it. It's very unique and not bad. A lot of folks loved the mac & cheese who had ordered it. I thought it was just OK. I think this is the type of place you go to enjoy drinks and music, and ribs . I would be back for that reason only. read more

Who does love good BBQ? We were in search of a few things when we found all the great reviews about Genesee Pub and BBQ on Yelp. We wanted an outdoor patio to enjoy the warmer weather. Finding a spot closer to home is always a bonus - or a nice drive away from the city also works. Great reviews and pictures that got our attention. Yelp never disappoints. What started out with a lovely drive into the mountains ended with great BBQ, live music, and a fabulous view. The atmosphere at Genesee is pretty chill and relaxed. Their team of staff is fairly small but each person appeared to have their jobs dialed in and they coordinated fairly well. One note to improve would be the number of actual waiters/waitresses. There seemed to be only one person taking orders and she was quite busy. Their younger staff cleared tables and delivered food like a well oiled machine, but if you needed anything else, you had to zero in on that one person, lol. Their seating options are pretty diverse and there was plenty of room for large groups and well as smaller dyads and triads. If you were outside with us, you also had many options across the large tiered patio. Genessee Pub backs up to hiking trails and a gorgeous view of the mountainside. Now, the reason you're even reading this - the food! We ordered the slider sampler first and knew immediately, we made a good decision. The brisket was tender and the flavors reminded us of home, back in Texas. My partner ordered a sampling of their BBQ and I had their Green Monster sandwich (pork, cheddar jack and pork green chili with fresh guac). We shared bites - no sad eyes here. Mine was quite messy but don't let that stop you, lol. It was scrumptious. Def add Genesse to your list. The drive is fantastic, the food won't dissappoint and your views will be amazing also. This was our first time visiting. The food was decent--exactly what you'd expect from a pub. Not great, not terrible. Service was mediocre at best. The two stars are for the following reasons: We ordered two beers, and one was already out of stock. When you only have three beers on tap, running out--especially on a Sunday during football season--is pretty unacceptable. We specifically chose this place to watch and hear the local team play. Before the game was even over, the owner turned off the sound and put music on instead. That's a big miss during football season. Super lame. read more

Had a beautiful hike to St. Mary Glacier and decided to stop by Genesee Pub and BBQ on the way back home. The atmosphere of this place was incredible! I recommend sitting outside, outdoors sitting is special with all the beautiful trees, mountain bike trails, and patio live music. I believe during warm weather they have live music on the weekends but I am not 100% sure. Food was ok, we got a sampler to share. Based on the description it feeds 4 hungry people, I can verify that, there was quite a lot of food. However, the brisket and pulled pork were dry as for my taste. I'd give food quality a 4 but the outdoor patio and the vibe deserve a 5. I was debating between 4 and 5 but considering friendly service and outdoors vibes I decided to give this place 5 stars. read more

If you're looking for good barbecue and smoked meals, this is a place to be. Staff is friendly, good service, the food is well above average. Reasonably priced and consistent. We live close by Genesee Pub and BBQ and everything we order on the menu is always delicious. The wait staff is great and so accommodating. Their patio for summer is really nice! We especially enjoy their $4 bloody mary's for Sat and Sun brunch. Their BBQ chef was trained in Texas and it's excellent! Also, their seafood is great. I really liked this spot in Genesee. It's right off the highway so it's easy to get to when you need a bit to eat after enjoying time outdoors (or not). While the pub has tons of TVs and more of a bar-type feel on the inside, the bright, beautiful, spacious patio is where it's at if you want to grab lunch or just chill. I found the BBQ meats unfortunately dry -- the brisket and pulled pork in the slider sampler and the burnt ends in the Matty's Mac and cheese were all dry even with sauce. The sausage in the slider sampler had some kick though! However, the Matty's Mac and cheese was otherwise really nice, with the chili adding flavor and overall a comforting effect. The onion rings were also excellent, perfectly crisp with a generous size onion inside. Service was friendly and prompt, and the patio seating lovely and shaded. One of the women's bathroom stalls doesn't have a functional lock though, awkward. read more

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and were immediately greeted and told to sit wherever we'd like. We sat outside on the patio and it was enjoyable. You couldn't tell by the ambiance that this place is located in strip mall. Scenic nature area can be seen from patio. Even the indoor area had a cool vibe. We shared 1/2lb brisket, two kinds of sausage and 1/4 lb of ribs. We also shared fried okra and green beans. The sausage was a little dry, not our favorite. I really enjoyed the green beans. Wasn't expecting them to have very much flavor, but some of the best I've had at any BBQ restaurant. The okra was very flavorful as well. The service was good. It's worth a stop. read more

Yelp asked me how Genesee Pub was and I say GREAT! We had a wonderful server. She was quick with her favorites and offered fun and interesting conversations! She also makes a great Old Fashioned. I love that this Pub serves local bourbon, like Breck! Our table tried several things off the menu. I personally had their fish n chips. I received 2 nice sized squares and their chips were homemade. My daughter had their Prime Rib Dip. She enjoyed it and said the bread was really fresh. My son in law ate the Cubano, and their wasn't a scrap left on his plate! The table also shared their fried okra. I especially liked the way they battered it. They have a great patio. Due to recent snow it wasn't open, but our server said on warmer days they open up the doors and there is Live music scheduled. Also pups are allowed! Happy this place is on my radar now. The absolute worst with the attitude of a small ski town that says "take it or leave it " with the food . We will leave it. The place was freezing cold. The server was a bitter old snow bunny who brought us microwaved baby back ribs with some barbecue sauce flopped all over the top claiming it was home made. Blink and you might miss this place. Heading back from ski country to the airport, we found this place on Yelp. The directions stopped just short at the Chart House (which was closed). If i had not have said "hey, lets see if there's anything else up there by that gas station" . . we would have never found it. Located in a very small strip mall, by the gas station, this hidden gem has an astounding amount of variety. Anything you could possibly want, from BBQ, to Chowder, to Mexican food. . . they even had my son's favorite sandwich, the Cubano. We ordered a variety of foods, BBQ, fish & chips, some clam chowdah and the Cubano. Have to say we were not disappointed. Such a great place! They have outdoor sitting with heaters, it felt very warm there. Stuff is very nice and kind. They follow social distancing and maintain space between tables. Food is amazing!!! I ordered sliders sampler with brisket, chicken and turkey, and Shepherd's pie -- everything was so delicious, but I loved brisket slider and Shepherd's Pie the most (they use brisket in the pie, which makes it amazing!) Wow, what a diamond in the rough this place is! Making a quick day trip to Genesee to see the leaves changing and stopped here for a quick bite to eat for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Totally unassuming place in a strip mall but you walk in and the place is a really good size. It has an awesome back patio that backs up to forest, you feel like you're really away from Everton. Not only that, they have live music on the patio which was awesome. The food was all really great. I got the Reuben sandwich with smoked turkey, one of the best ones I've had and I do consider myself a Reuben connesuir, not good at much else besides eating great sandwiches to be fair. The service was super attentive, the owner stopped by several times to ensure we were happy and was very friendly. We will definitely be back here, very excited to find this place! read more
