I was thinking about things I like so that I can review them, because I want to get my Yelp count higher. Even though I have not had my kids at AIA for a couple of years, this school is one of the first things I thought of. I had two children in this school. The older one attended from K through 5. When she graduated, I had to take the younger one over to their new school as well, because it is impractical for me to have them in two different locations. We only left for logistical reasons. We love this school. I wish I was wealthy so that I could invest in this school and help them expand. Okay, now on to the meat of the review. This school attracts kids from several different cultures. They have very committed teachers. Their founder, Dixie, is one of the kindest people I have ever met. They use Montessori methods, but they are not afraid to adapt their system to meet the needs of each child. My older child learned to read and write better than some of my fellow graduate students! I credit this school for that. I will name a few of the awesome teachers they have (or have had), but I am sure the others are great as well: Mrs. Turner, Mrs. McDaniel, Mrs. Littlewood, and Mrs. Narayan. If you want a well-designed adaptive Montessori program for your kids - that teaches excellent life skills as well - this is the place to bring them. This school does have a Christian affiliation, which would have normally made me wary because we are UUs, not Christian. However, as is appropriate for an international school, religious participation is voluntary. The school had children from families that are Christian, Jewish, UU, Hindu, and Muslim (and probably others). It seemed that none of them experienced religious conflict. So, if you want to teach religious tolerance to your kids, this is a great place.

We reached out right away, explained everything and asked if they could make an exception. They absolutely could have if they wanted to, but instead chose to charge us close to $2,000 and kept pointing us back to the contract and legal language. I even appealed directly to both the outgoing and incoming heads of the school, hoping there would be some understanding given the circumstances and how quickly we notified them. Unfortunately, there was none. The saving grace for us was my son's teachers, Mr. Rao and Mrs. Joshi. They were wonderful and we genuinely appreciated them. Beyond that, I was never particularly impressed with the administration or the overall experience. For a school that positions itself as a premier institution and has so many positive accolades, our experience was very different. To us, it felt like a pretty average/subpar school packaged and marketed as something much more. If you are considering AIA, just make sure you read every line of what you sign. Don't assume there will be any flexibility or understanding even when circumstances change within a matter of days.

The activities that they do in their classrooms are incredible - they get to participate in Chinese, Spanish, Art and gym classes. The Director, Assistant Director and all of the teachers are very professional, and they genuinely care for every student that walks through their doors. When the boys wake up on the weekends and become disappointed that they are not going to school, it provides us with such peace of mind knowing that they love their teachers, friends and the overall learning experience that Cadence provides. They have very high standards for the daycare and always communicate with the parents. I email them and will always receive a response within 24-48 hours, most of the time the day of. As parents, we really appreciate the communication and transparency. The teachers are the best of the best. Most of them have been there decades and they truly love the kids. We love Ms. Monica and Ms. Maria, they treat the kids like their own. It really feels like a family. I cannot rave about them enough. They also send daily updates on the activities, what they ate, and pictures throughout the day. There is Mandarin class every Tuesday, book days, yoga, arts and crafts, STEM learning, etc. We love the school and cannot recommend them enough.

Our child's class was also moved for two weeks into a younger classroom that felt overcrowded for that age mix. For a toddler who needs routine, that level of churn was disruptive. When the second lead resigned abruptly, we chose to withdraw. The school enforced a 45-school-day withdrawal clause, effectively billing families for two school months after notice. Hard to reconcile was the asymmetry: families must guarantee 45-school-days of tuition, yet leadership at times appeared to give staff as little as one week's notice of termination; in other cases, staff were listed as "on vacation" and didn't return. Whether that reflects limited loyalty from management toward staff or low staff loyalty to the workplace, it ultimately points to a management-level failure to foster a supportive environment that keeps staff committed--while families are asked to shoulder the cost of the resulting staffing and retention issues via the 45-school-day policy. If you visit the school, ask detailed questions about current turnover, staffing ratios, contingency plans, and how the 45-school-day policy is applied when staffing changes disrupt a classroom.

We put our 4 yr old kiddo in this preschool this year, hoping for a chance at some normalcy for this child who had already been through 9 surgeries, several of them open heart. Kiddo has been by all means a miracle child and has absolutely been through it. We discussed in depth with doctors, therapists, etc before making the decision to send him to school as the right decision. However, as expected, kiddo got sick a bit more than the other kids as kiddos immune system isn't as strong. They have strict sick policy, which we respect and understand. At the end of October, we have our first conference. Nothing is mentioned except an issue with answering to kiddos name and acknowledging direction. Nothing new. Nothing mentioned about "educational value." Fast forward to several weeks before Thanksgiving and sickness is going around. The normal kids are recovering in days, it' takes our kiddo a week to consider sending him back. We try it, and end up having to come get kiddo. We are asked to keep kiddo home until the cough is completely gone. We finally send kiddo back after Thanksgiving and 3 school days later, these people have the audacity to message and say kiddo is not getting " any educational value" and would like us to remove kiddo from class. Zero mention of this at the conference. Zero in the hundreds of messages they send weekly. They find a way to say "we can't handle your kiddo , even though we said we could" They even tried to tell us how we should be parenting and thought we should "consider therapy." Do you not listen? Doctors and therapists are who we consulted with to decide to send him to preschool!! Also, it's your job to GIVE every child the educational value. Something every educator in your preschool should be able to do. Educational value is all on the teacher ‍‍We were thinking about sending our 2 year old next year. But thanks for saving us money and showing how bottom of the barrel your preschool is! Why did you say you would take kiddo on when we disclosed from the very first time we contacted your school that he had some health challenges. Why Lie?!?! Stay away from this scam of a preschool. Ms Manu was my child's teacher and she was equally warm and welcoming. The staff is all very friendly (Manuela at the front desk is the best and so very helpful!). The place is clean. They provide healthy meals. It is small but has all the necessary things for your growing child. This was my first Montessori experience and because of that I am bought in to the method of education. About 1 year ago, I had my then 18 month old son enrolled in a different, nearby daycare (which I also left a review for), and it was a nightmare from the start. Being a parent, all you want to do is find the perfect place to bring your child, somewhere that you will make you feel comfortable, and not filled with constant anxiety. I have been lucky enough to feel so happy and confident in my decision to send my son to Legacy Academy. I will preempt this whole review by saying that my son is very difficult. Not in a bad way, but in a hard way. He is super sensitive, very scared of strangers and unfamiliar environment. I know this sounds typical of a toddler, but he is a very extreme case. It was very stressful finding a center that would deal well with this, and really deal with it well. Luckily, Legacy Academy was very capable and willing to work with him. When he first started, he was in the early toddler room (18 months-24 months), with a teacher named Ms. Jenn. When I first met Ms. Jenn, she seemed quiet and reserved, but she was anything but. She opened up in front of the kids and really helped my sensitive child transition into this day care. She is caring and extremely patient and attentive...qualities that are hard to find in people. One thing I really liked about the early toddler room is that it is only kids that are 18 months to 24 months, making all the kids very similar in where they are at developmentally. The whole time he was in this room, there was only 1 teacher because the number of students was so low (I think 6), which is very good for a class size at a day care. Once my son turned 2, he was moved up to the Senior Toddler room, which was a very scary transition. However, the staff was very thoughtful in planning the best way to transition him, and worked with him over the course of a month to slowly warm him up to the 3 new teachers in the Sr. Toddler classroom. The classroom is led by Ms. Estelle, a teacher who has been with the school for OVER 6 YEARS. this is unheard of in day cares. If you are interviewing day cares, be sure to ask how long their teachers have been with them, because it's a very good indication of how the staff is treated. Six years really speaks for itself. Ms. Estelle is the sweetest, and nicest teacher. She did everything she could to help my son and she still does to this day. She understands he requires a little extra patience and attention, and she gives it to him so effortlessly. She is amazing. There are 2 other teachers in the Sr. Toddler room, and they are great as well. My son loves all 3, which is something I thought would never happen due to his temperament. Another thing I love about the school is their approach to learning. Every week we get a detailed outline of the coming week's schedule and lesson plan. They have all the time filled with different educational activities etc. They explain why they are doing each activity and how it contributes to their education. They have spanish once a week, and they have music class too (someone comes in to teach it, he is great!). Now that it's summer they are offering a sports program. All of this is included in the tuition. Legacy Academy is NAEYC certified, (The National Association for the Education of Young Children), which is the highest certification a day care can attain. They are very strict and diligent in checking standards and holding facilities to them. In the Alpharetta Area there are only a few other schools that are also certified with this accreditation. Legacy holds regular events for families to get together, and mingle and engage with other families. They host picnics, holiday events, and all sorts of events outside of the regular day. It is nice because it gives working parents a chance to meet other families in the area, with similarly aged kids. They also have monthly date-nights where parents can drop off the kids in the evening, so parents can have a night out. I am sure I am leaving out 100 positive things I could mention, but I think this sort of sums up my overall experience with Legacy Academy. I absolutely love this school, and having my son attend it. I feel confident dropping him off, and never worried about his well being or anything. If you are curious to learn more about the school, I urge you to contact them.
