The program has a way to teach STEM skills in an appealing and productive manner. During the summer of 2015, our church (Second Baptist Church of Elgin) was looking for individuals to assist with our Vacation Bible School. In addition to the religious instruction, we have various workshops that deal with other aspects of young people's lives (i.e. Arts & Crafts, Improv, Music, and Cardio Fitness). Bricks 4 Kidz - Elgin presented workshops with 5-6 year olds, 1-3 graders, and 4-6 graders. I observed the session with the 4-6 graders. The young people were excited and engaged throughout the activity. After a short orientation by Ms. Palmer, the youth were divided into pairs. The youth were given a kit and written instructions to follow. It was amazing to see young people utilizing cognitive and non-cognitive skills in a thoughtful and interesting way. As the deacon assigned to the Youth Ministry, I am familiar with the students' academic abilities. The group varied in academic ability and socioeconomic status. We are grateful that Brick 4 Kidz-Elgin brought this invaluable resource to our children. I would strongly endorsed any school or community organization to utilize Brick 4 Kidz-Elgin. The young people continue to express their excitement about the workshop days and weeks later.

Did not greet with a smile, when touring the infant room she told me there were 1 teacher per 4 students. There was 5 kids in there with no other teacher or helper. She told me 6 are enrolled and when there more than 4 they will hire another teacher, as there were more than 4 students in there I kinda looked at her in confusion. I was trying to lighten the mood make jokes and she was not smiling or acting friendly at all. Looked like she hated her life. Then she was telling me I had to put a down payment today to secure a spot and after I said isn't there a special going on, she rolls her eyes and said "oh yeah, but that 200 goes towards your first month". She was just not welcoming at all. Megan called me the day prior said that she will be doing the tour and wanted to chat after the tour about the position I applied for. Megan did not once greet me when walking in, only when I was going to the front to leave then she wanted to say hi and that's it. When Natalie was asking for clarification, Megan gets up and said yes that's it and goes back into the office. We did not have a chat after. For 2500$ a MONTH. I'd expect A LOT better customer service and welcomeness." Thank god Megan said "let's see how you like the daycare before we switch into the job interview" HORRIBLE HORRIBLE.

With all of the stories we see on the Internet, our guards instantly go up to protect our little ones. From the moment we attended the open house, we knew this was the right place for our son. The teachers took time to engage with us while giving a tour of the facility. With the pandemic, we were still hesitant on a start date. After sharing my concerns, the Director assured us of the safety protocols in place and let me know when I was ready, they would be ready! Fast forward to now. Our son has been attending since October 2020 and his development has been a pleasure to watch. There's a few interactions that have stood out for me. First, there was a day when my son was fussy and didn't want to enter the classroom. After some coaxing, he proceeded over the threshold with his teacher. I was entering my car and noticed he was still crying. Within seconds, his teacher picked him up and gave him cuddles to soothe him and stop crying. At a previous center, they would let me cry it out. This warmed my heart. The second good observation was just a week ago. I was approached by his teacher encouraging me to move him to full-time care because she noticed signs of regression. We, yes WE, discussed next steps and how we could make this an easy transition for him. Part of the challenge is he's not fully potty trained, but they work with him daily to get him there. If you're looking for a place to send your little one, look no further. Your child will be cared for and prepared for kindergarten. You will be treated like family here. Oh...and one other thing...the weekly newsletters are adorbs! You get to see the littles playing together and read about what they're working on for the week. It's a great way to provide reinforcement at home. Something else...I love the app! You get notifications with your child's activity and pics. Look no further! TLE-Elgin is the place!
