The Learning Tree was an outstanding program for our children. The care the directors take for all of the children is evident when you walk in the facility, with work displayed and smiling faces of nearly every child you meet. Diane T. I would recommend the Learning Tree, mostly due to the teachers and staff, but also the choices and philosophies the school chooses. Our experience with Learning Tree South started off wonderfully but quickly deteriorated into one of the most disappointing and frustrating situations we've faced as parents. Our child began attending Learning Tree in April 2024, and at first, we were thrilled with the care he received. The previous administration, particularly Ms. Brenda, created a welcoming and supportive environment. The teachers were attentive, communicative, and genuinely invested in our child's well-being. However, after Ms. Brenda's departure and new leadership under Cydney, the quality of care and communication declined drastically. We were never informed that our child was moved to a new classroom, despite multiple requests for confirmation. Communication from both teachers and administration became inconsistent, and Procare updates became infrequent. One of the most alarming changes was the turnover of experienced teachers. Our child had wonderful teachers who were suddenly let go without notice to parents. In their place, the daycare hired what appeared to be younger, inexperienced staff who lacked the necessary skills to support young children. This transition had an immediate and negative impact on our child's behavior and well-being. The last week we were there, we began receiving an excessive number of incident reports, yet, meaningful communication about our son's care was absent. On one occasion, I arrived to find him playing in the toilet unsupervised--not once, but twice, while his teacher offered no intervention. The lack of oversight and concern was appalling. As the days went on, the environment worsened. Teachers stopped engaging with us, updates on our child's day became nonexistent, and the classroom atmosphere felt chaotic. The final straw came when our child was left without socks or shoes, and as I was reviewing yet another incident report, he ran out of the classroom completely unnoticed by staff. Instead of addressing this serious safety concern, an office manager casually admitted, "Yeah, he runs out of the room all the time, we can't keep him in there." The disregard for our child's safety was completely unacceptable. When we raised our concerns, the administration denied having any staffing issues. However, after we submitted our two-week notice, we were suddenly told that staffing was in fact a problem. This dishonesty was infuriating, and by that point, we no longer felt safe leaving our son in their care. Despite our decision to withdraw immediately due to safety concerns, Learning Tree still charged us for the final two weeks--an additional financial burden on top of the stress of urgently finding new childcare. After everything we experienced, corporate Learning Tree reached out to us via text, asking us to reconsider and try another location, Learning Tree Livonia North. We responded by email detailing everything that had happened at Learning Tree South. We have yet to receive any reply from corporate. It's clear that Learning Tree prioritizes profit over the well-being and safety of the children in their care. We are deeply disappointed by the complete breakdown of care, communication, and professionalism at Learning Tree South. What was once a nurturing daycare turned into an unsafe and disorganized environment. We cannot in good conscience recommend this facility to other parents. read more

Dirty facilities. I would often walk past the infant room with babies just laying on the floor crying while the staff stand around on their phones. Rude staff , Especially Jen and Brenda, if you ever need an issue resolved they are never willing to help you. My son went there for 2 years and hated every minute of it. I would NEVER recommend this place for any child. Bathtooms are filthy, halls are never clean. Staff is never friendly. I once had a staff member named Jenn hold her finger in my face and told me she can not handle my son's situation because it was getting too late and she had somewhere to be. So glad my eyes were opened and we left this awful place. WAY over priced for absolutely no reason. I was able to find much more affordable childcare in a much cleaner nicer facility. The entire team of teachers and cook and assistants are great at the center and I can pin point something great about each one of them like Mrs. Jen Perry and Cheyenne and the loving, caring way they conduct the toddler 3 room and their friendly way to bond with the kids. MRs. Emily, Lakeshia, Kelly, Jon, Cheyenne, Jen, Jones, Monica, Knoor, and team - My 2yr old daughter loves them and everyday she comes back home demonstrating something new she learned, and most of all demonstrating happiness! I interviewed at the Howell location for a toddler teacher position and it was the most fake unprofessional place. It looks great online but they really don't genuinely care about the kids. I went into a classroom to do a "working interview" and walked into a classroom of 8 kids with 1 teacher, when the ratio is 1 teacher to 4 children. The teachers were on they're phones and didn't care to interact with the children. They "claim" all this wonderful stuff about this place but it is all a front. The director was very unprofessional and offered me the job while we were walking in the hallway during my interview. She never interviewed me or asked me any questions. I filled out an application for my "interview" and then was thrown into a classroom for 30 minutes. read more

Terrible communication from this organization. No letter or communication for late fees due to an error in billing. Sent a letter 2 years after my child went there for late fees we had. I don't recommend this daycare center. I was very interested in this center because of their green and friendly cleaning products and organic menu. I met with the teachers for my son's classroom (infant) and I do really like the teachers. However, the staff is very unorganized in the office. A week after enrolling my infant the center decided to get rid of the mask mandate for all employees and all children (who are under 12 and therefore unvaccinated). I was nervous and wanted to wait to see how the numbers went before sending my son back but continued to drive up once a week to drop off a check. One week I couldn't come in and pay on the day tuition was due (Wed at 6pm) because my son was sick. I called to ask how to pay and if I could pay online and was just told to come in the morning and pay the next day. I did and came and paid the tuition including the late fee. Well the next week I realize that I could have avoided that late fee if I would have paid the tuition on Thursday morning before 9AM.. I was livid because I would have come and paid before 9AM had I been told. I asked for a late fee reversal and they agreed but it took weeks and when I asked about where it was credited I found out that it wasn't posted on my account because it was applied instead as a credit to another late fee I supposedly had a few weeks before this last scenario happened. I couldn't believe that I supposedly had an outstanding late fee on my account for WEEKS and asked for help with my account and the situation where my son was sick but yet no one told me I had an outstanding balance. Not only was I never late aside from the one scenario where I called and worked it out with the staff ahead of time but I was also treated disrespectfully. They refused to listen to me, kept talking over me and the director said, "I can ask for another late fee reversal but in the 7 years I have been here they have never approved it".... I kept trying to explain that I wasn't late and that it wasn't my fault but she refused to listen to me. She even threatened to look at the video surveillance of the deposit box. I agreed and sat down and then she backed out saying they can't do it. I unenrolled my son that day and told them to keep their $30 late fee. I don't understand how a director of this center can be so rude. One of the assistants left suddenly the week that the mask mandate in the center was lifted and I can't blame her. I asked the director why the staff and children 2years and up don't have to wear a mask and she said it's because the governor doesn't require it... Even when the CDC and AAP do. I will find another center that has their office more organized, treats my family with respect and follows CDC and AAP recommendations. read more

My fiancé and I agreed on the learning tree, which was a great choice. The staff is amazing and attentive. I love the infant program staff. It is amazing the activities they come up with to engage my son. I do have peace of mind so it is worth the money. However, I do wish I would of asked how often do they increase rates, because after speaking with long time parents here it seems as if this is an annual thing. The increase is a pretty hefty one, a $16 increase. We are already currently paying $317 a week & are now being requested to pay $333 a week. I know it's not the facility fault, it's not much regulation for funding from state and federal so I understand to raise fees. However, I do feel as if the explanation provided as of why fees are increasing was not a good one (employee retention, increasing operating cost, and curriculum). I do not think the reasons given should fall back on the parents, I can see increasing operating cost contributing to increasing fees, but that is me being considerate. Anywho, I wanted to bring awareness that tuition do increase and it's only right people are aware since this isn't showcased. We have currently been at this center for 6 months and already experiencing an increase. I do not want to take away from the center's hard work and dedication because of increased fees. This place is very unprofessional and I am very unhappy with how they treated me. They came across great and once they had my deposit the lies were apparent. I called to finalize 2 weeks before my daughter's start date and they told me "oh no one called you? We don't have room for her anymore. Would not recommend. From our Family's experience there was high turn over rates, new teachers and inconsistencies in caregiving. Staff would lose clothing, bedding, shoes and even send home the wrong items or not follow instructions to send home all items at the end of the day. They would put incorrect and false information into the app about their day (what they ate and potty time). My youngest was constantly sick with a cough and runny nose the few months she was there, once she was pulled out it it was gone. Witness many children with runny noses in the class, my oldest contracted Hand, foot and mouth from the center. The 5 star reviews are due to incentivizing teacher bonuses if you left a long enough positive review. When my children were exposed to covid and had to quarantine they still billed for the full time even though quarantine was mandatory and a public health concern. Not worth the $$$ for inconsistent poor care. read more

Now that I have my son in a place that's quality for young children, I feel I should send a message about the south learning tree. I really liked Kelly and Jon. I felt like they tried but the company itself sets the teachers up to fail. They have their own internal assessors to review rooms so it's inaccurate and often times false. Those tablets are awful!! The teachers are on them continuously because they're required. They have little to no interactions w children. They're more into organic food cleaners and maintenance-not kids. I felt so bad watching the parents drop their kids off thinking it was an okay place because they advertise using a research based curriculum and organic food. The learning tree is day care with fancy advertising. It's not a quality early learning experience and I find myself still so upset to this day for sending my child there. I hope the owner has a chance to read this and takes it seriously. You have early learning resources that are free to you...use them! read more

Had to pull both my daughters out due to male administrator not being able to handle one of them developing early. Learning tree chose to protect their employee rather than keep our kids as students. We had several incidences with the same male administrator mis treating her with witnesses to back up my statement. Would not recommend as long as this staff is still employed there. Very disappointed in this daycare and there lack of Communication! Only reason there are so many five star reviews is because they offered half off tuition if you left a good review. In alittle over two years we saw 18 teachers come and go in just one of my daughters rooms and three directors. read more

I am now convinced The Learning Tree cares nothing about customer loyalty and long-time parent relationships with their organization. The letter below, sent to their Directors, explains and proves my position: This letter is notification to cancel the Before and After School Daycare contract for our daughter. On September 7, 2016, my bank account was fraudulently hacked for over $3400.00. The next day I canceled my bank account and opened a new account. I was issued a claim# by my bank and told by them the only 2 outstanding checks (Molly Maids and Learning Tree South), were put on a list to be transferred to the new account. During the following days I mentioned the incident first to the Assistant Director and then later to the Director to make sure they were aware of the situation and provide any additional information, however, none was asked for. Following directions from my bank, I went to the Livonia Police Station and filed a police report. Approximately one week later, I was contacted by Molly Maids, (1 of the 2 outstanding checks my bank assured would be automatically transferred to my new account), only to inform me that a stop payment was issued to their check. That same day, I stopped by the Learning Tree South office to inquire if the Learning Tree South check, (2 of 2 outstanding checks), had experienced the same situation. According to the Assistant Director, she saw nothing in the system indicating check# XXXX was returned and/or a stop payment was issued. A few days later I made a point to ask the Director once again the same question. At that time she said there was no indication of a returned check and/or a stop payment issued. The following week, approximately 2 weeks after I initially discussed the fraudulent incident with the Director and Assistant Director, I received a phone call from the Director telling me the Learning Tree South check# XXXX was returned as if there had been no previous conversation regarding my situation. I immediately replied, "No problem, I will write you a new replacement check from my new bank account." This was the process that was used to address the same situation with Molly Maid. However, I was then told that I would be charged a fee, because, "it is our policy." I immediately disagreed based on my unique circumstances - my bank account being fraudulently hacked and the previous conversations regarding this situation. I later continued to argue my case by stating, "this is not an 'insufficient funds' situation." The Director not only knew the circumstances of my situation, I came to her first to confirm if check# XXXX was return or had a stop payment issued specifically so I could write a replacement check and pay my debt. Even if I didn't cancel the hacked bank account, (which I had no choice in because of the fraudulent hacking incident), the balance at that time was copiously sufficient enough to cover the amount of check# XXXX. Madison has been enrolled in a Learning Tree Childcare facility since the age of 6 months and I have been sufficiently satisfied with her care up to this point. Through that entire time I have been impressed with the quality of care and satisfied with the teaching staff interactions and in turn dismissed the excessive fees and charges. I always felt the benefits outweighed any negative situation experienced, but not this time. I am completely insulted and disgusted with how I've been treated and have every intention to inform the public how the Learning Tree Childcare Centers treats loyal longtime customers. Molly Maids proved their appreciation and respect for longtime customer relationships and we continue to enjoy our business relationship. According to your own policy, I should only have been charged a, $20.00 fee, but instead I was erroneously charged a $30.00 fee. I refuse to pay this $30.00 fee and refuse to contact my bank to correct your mistake. I refuse to be completely ignored, under-estimated, undervalued, marginalized, unappreciated and disrespected. My daughter has been in the infant classroom at The Learning Tree for several months and receives only the best care. Ms. Jen and Ms. Emily take wonderful care of her and it shows in her happy attitude. The huge smiles she gives Ms. Jen are proof that she loves her and the environment there. My 3 year old son has been at the center for over 2 years now and generally receives very good care. He learns so much there that he constantly amazes me with his progress. His teachers have been very good overall. read more

Was a good place, but bad now. My son has been at the learning tree for almost 2 years and a half, from 1.5 years old to almost 4. Each parent must know how important these years are for a little boy. He had a good time there, till the former director left. Shortly after the new director came in the early 2015, they suddenly kicked my son out! The Learning Tree staff said that they are not able to provide service to him. I am very disappointed with the Learning Tree. Afterall, my son has been in the daycare full-time for more than 2 years! At the moment, the new director and staff are not as patient and nice as the old ones. Actually, my son is getting much happier since he left the learning tree. It may be a good thing to have to leave that BAD place. read more
