Honestly, after The Ledbury got its third star, I was a little worried it might get too "precious" or stiff. I've been to enough 3-star spots in London where the food looks like a science experiment but tastes like nothing. Thankfully, Brett Graham is still keeping it real. The plating is genuinely stunning--the kind of art where you actually want to stop and take a photo--but the best part is that it's actually delicious. It's food you genuinely enjoy eating, not just something you admire for the technique. The pigeon courses were the absolute standout for me. They serve it in stages, which I loved. You get this perfectly glazed breast that is so tender it's basically like butter, followed by a little "snack" of the leg that has this incredible deep, smoky flavor. It's rare to find a place that treats game with that much respect without overcomplicating it. If you're on the fence, definitely go for the wine pairing. The Sommelier was a total legend--super approachable, no snobbery, and clearly obsessed with what's in the cellar. The pairings were exceptional and honestly made the meal for me. They aren't just pouring the standard labels; they're finding really interesting stuff that makes the earthy notes in the pigeon pop. Price-wise, it's a 3-star Michelin in Notting Hill, so it's going to be a hit to the wallet. It's on par with the other big names in the city, but it felt worth every penny for a special night out. The service is polished, but they don't make you feel like you're sitting in a library--you can actually have a laugh and enjoy yourself. Easily one of the best dining experiences I've had in London. Period. Elite Tip: If they have the signature mushroom tartlet on the menu when you go, don't even think about it--just eat it.

Been wanting to come here for a very long time and glad we finally made it. Four of us came for dinner and all of us walked out with big smiles. The evening was exquisite, service on point, friendly and funny staff and food that was exceptionally good and not a single course I did not like. I had told them about our food restrictions before hand and they had individual menus prepared for each person, that alone is worthy of three stars. Their attention to detail is really amazing here. The food started arriving and course after course was amazing flavour, fabulous presentation, and the staff were just great with us in responding to our questions and elaborating as needed. My favourites of the night were the charcuterie that comes from their farm, the Portland crab, the venison from their farm, their home grown mushrooms and the mackerel. The dessert was nice but the pralines that came with the coffee put me on cloud 9 :-) the truffle praline was exquisite to say the least. They even gave me a small bag of those to take home, that's very special. Great but expensive wine list, exceptional service and we never had to ask for anything during the evening and service with a smile. Loved every bit of this place and I would come back in a heartbeat. I was apprehensive considering I had been waiting a long while to get here but, they delivered beyond expectation.

I am sad to say the food was only average at this Michelin 2 stars restaurant, maybe I set my bar too high. The interior décor was elegantly trendy; lighting was perfect; service was impeccable but the food did not have the "wow" factor. The wine pairing was impressive; matching with the dishes like an old married couple. All dishes were tasty and well executed, but they were not able to "sing" in my mouth. It was a bit disappointing.

Tied with Dinner by Heston Blumenthal as my top Michelin dining experience in London, The Ledbury serves a phenomenal tasting menu. My friends and I were here for over 4 hours and not a single dull minute passed by. Time seemed to fly as we savored every single bite of every single course. Yes, the food was that good. This restaurant will forever hold a dear place in my heart. // Seaweed Bread Cracker with Smoked Mussel and Apple Jellies* // Guinea Fowl Puffs with Honey Mint Jelly* // Muntjac Deep Dumpling with Mustard Fruit* // Chantilly of Oyster - Tartare of Sea Bream and Frozen English Wasabi // Porridge Sourdough, Butter with Whipped Goat's Whey, Sprayed with Molasses* // White Beetroot - Baked in Clay, Caviar Salt and Smoked Eel // Warm Pheasant Egg - Celeriac, Arbois, Dried Ham and Truffle // Steamed Cod - Asparagus, Anchovy and Basil // Hen of the Woods - Potato Emulsion and Rosemary // Berkshire Roe Buck - Smoked Bone Marrow, Cherries, Red Leaves and Vegetables // Passionfruit Curd - Château d'Yquem and Olive Oil // Chocolate - Dark Chocolate Chantilly and Mint // Juniper and Caramel with Chocolate and Eucalyptus* // Cheese (Optional Course - £12 Supplement) // Guinness Ice Cream* * = off-menu

They say that lunch is the inferior meal of fine dining. They are wrong. There is nothing inferior at The Ledbury - lunch is incredible. I often enjoy the amuse bouches even more than the apps, and this time it's true. Which is really saying something considering the quality of the apps. There's a dollop of smoked mussel cream on a nori crisp. The nori is light, and the smoky cream has such a silky texture. There's a Guinea Fowl Pate Puff, like a cream puff with meat, and a succulent crab paste with the sweetest tiniest shrimp. Fresh Hazelnuts are a lighter starter - nuts and summer fruit are always a winning combination. The Veal Tartare is so...raw. Gamey but delicate, undeniably delicious. IT come with a hunk of bread topped with beef fat which is basically just butter meaty goodness. The Native Lobster is one of the most beautiful dishes I've ever seen. I love the layers of shiitake on top, and the lobster itself is so tender. The Belted Galloway Beef is a risk because it's for two. The filet is absolute perfection, and just when you think it can't get better, they add a silver-dollar of bone marrow. The short rib is melt-in-your-mouth. I never knew short rib could be so good. Next, a Passion Fruit Mousse palate-cleaner and some fried donuts. Then the real dessert, work-of-art Raspberry Tart with so much amazing sorbet and a Brown Sugar Tart with a fantastic ginger ice cream. Post-dessert, they have Juniper Caramel Sticks that make you feel less grossly full and of course, chocolate truffles. If this is lunch, I MUST return for dinner. The Ledbury is among the best meals I've had in London, and it ranks among my top ten ever. I've had plenty of fine dining all around the world, but The Ledbury is in a league of its own!

This being one of the top restaurants in the world, we had to try it and it def did not disappoint. It is exactly what you come to expect with the Michelin rated restaurant - white glove service, extremely well though out curated food, the best of the best, and with stunningly simple Decor and atmosphere. Prior to our arrival, when we made reservations we told them about our dietary restrictions and allergies which this restaurant curated to perfection. There was fresh baked gluten-free bread and entire four course vegan meal including but not limited to a vegan gluten-free ice cream and chocolate mousse which was one of the best hands down that I've had to date, around the world. Each plate was so uniquely different than the rest and even my husband opted to do the vegan meal because of the amazing descriptions listed on the menu. It seemed so enticing and appetizing that this was just the way to go. For a carnivore to enjoy a vegan meal, it takes a lot and this place did not disappoint. It did just that. If you are in the London area, this restaurant is not to be missed. One of the most amazing Michelin rated meals I've had and I highly recommend to anyone with any kind of dietary restriction to try this place. It was truly a magnificent birthday and they made this meal such a special meal and made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant even though every table in the restaurant was full.

Ever eaten in a two-star Michelin restaurant in Los Angeles? What about in London? This was my chance to compare...Providence vs. Ledbury. One thing about the Ledbury is that it's tucked away in a residential area in Notting Hill. The other is that it's smart casual, so not many suits here...mostly locals. Once the Chinese arrive with cameras it'll be over...oh, that's us! :) Pics: http://bit.ly/15e8G5u The decor is a relaxed, but curated vintage look: velvet embossed black drapes, chairs with muted, but unmatching textile designs, plates that change with the courses. A real sensory experience. Pics: http://bit.ly/131UocV We chose the set menu $150/pp without wine. http://bit.ly/Yi7zBL #1 Amuse bouche. Pics: http://bit.ly/XPDD2I http://bit.ly/115Vsv6 #2 #2 Chantilly of oysters with oyster tartare, cucumber and radish. Pics: http://bit.ly/131UvFn #3 Flame-grilled mackerel, melon radish, celeric mustard and shiso. Pics: http://bit.ly/141F6UQ #4 "Risotto" celeriac, new potato, smoked eel and parsley. Pics: http://bit.ly/110HNBy #5 Fillet seabass, brocolli stem, crab and black quinoa. Pics: http://bit.ly/131TMUE #6 Jowl of pork, walnut, apple and black pudding. Pics: http://bit.ly/103UdtG #7 Saddle of roe deer, red vegetables leaves, rhubarb and bone marrow.Pics: http://bit.ly/1450nNI #8 Pre-dessert. Pics: http://bit.ly/YAx0KV #9 #9 Brown sugar tart with poached grapes and ginger stem ice-cream. Pics: http://bit.ly/ZjnoYh Post-dessert. Pics: http://bit.ly/15e8Bis So what was my conclusion? Ledbury was pricier than Providence due to it being in London, but it was worth every penny. The dining experience was more relaxed than at Providence, yet there was no lack of dining experience and excitement to see what the next dish had in store for my tastebuds. I'd come back here. But, not so much for Providence.

What an amazing place! Came here for the set lunch menu and also for a friend's birthday. Had such an amazing time. Four courses with matching wine for £140 per person. Definitely worth it. Greatly presented and also yummy food. Awesome ambience and service, what else could one ask for! The restaurant also had a signed birthday card for my friend. Also went out of the way and had a personalised dessert for her to wish her a happy birthday. Book way in advance and have a great time!

Coming here, we had the highest expectations for the food, and that might've been its downfall. We ordered 8 courses and got 3 complimentary appetizers before our meal. These were delicious. One tasted a little like fancy pork rinds, one had a strong citrus flavor with a crunchiness of the chip, and one tasted like a she-crab soup. Next we had an oyster topped with a creamy sauce. The creaminess really went well with the freshness of the oyster, but I wish the oyster wasn't cut up to where it's hard to taste the texture of the whole thing. I'd prefer it whole where you can really taste the oyster. Next we got the salad and I felt like it was only alright. The artichoke was cooked well, but I felt like all the ingredients didn't go well with each other. Separately they were good, but together it just didn't taste like 1 complete dish. The egg dish was probably one of my favorite ones. The egg went extremely well with the crispy dried ham. Imagine a breakfast, but fancier and you get this dish. Very relatable and very delicious. The squid with the broth was a little one noted for me. It was just richness with more richness. I felt like this dish would've been better if there was something to contrast that, like lime leaves. Despite this, the squid was really tender and you barely had to chew, which I enjoyed. I felt like the hen of the woods fell victim to the same problem. One noted and very rich. Regardless, the mushrooms had a great taste. It's like eating a piece of beef, but it's actually a mushroom. Really interesting concept here. One of my other favorite dishes is the pigeon. It was cooked perfectly and the best part was the thigh. It was cooked a little differently and I wish the whole thing was cooked this way. The seasoning is just so much tastier for the thigh in my opinion. Last were the desserts. The meringue was the perfect amount of sweetness to tartness, coupled with the cold sorbet in the center made for a really good dish. The pumpkin dessert was also delicious. The best part is the caramel, which they made tart, so it cuts right through the richness of the pumpkin tart. I didn't really like the dandelion part of the dish though so that could've been left off. It threw me off by tasting a little like mashed potatoes. For me, food overall was 3.5/5. The service here is literally the best I've ever had. They immediately refilled drinks, took away plates, replaced silverware, gathered the crumbs, refilled our napkins, and explained the courses... We felt like royalty for the duration of the meal from how great the service was. Even the smallest details were taken into account, and I wouldn't expect any less. 9000/5 for service. After having this, I felt like the food was a little underwhelming, but maybe our expectations were just too high. Not saying the food was bad because it was delicious. We just felt like the price wasn't justified if we weren't blown away by at least 1 or 2 dishes.
What a great Michelin star experience. I have been to almost 20 in the last year since that has been one of my goal goals to hit the top 100 restaurants in the world. Not only was the food, amazing, atmosphere, gorgeous, but the service was funny, entertaining, expressive, and personal. It wasn't stuffy like some of the restaurants we have been to. There was actual fun conversation back-and-forth. I appreciated that so much. I love London, I will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful experience. read more
Even more amazing than my last visit. Each dish was designed in detail. For the wine pairings, the sommelier not only described the wine but also why it was chosen for a particular dish. Everything was marvelous but my favorite dish was made with mushrooms grown in the restaurant's cabinet, which is visible on the back stairs. Service was polite and at a perfect pace. The staff efficiently organized a cab for me back to my hotel--a simple task that many restaurants appear to have difficulty in accomplishing. I wholeheartedly recommended The Ledbury! read more
This place stands out! I'm a humble plebeian, but The Ledbury treated me like a king. From start to finish, this was some of the tastiest food I've had on a plate. It always amazes me how much flavor these chef geniuses can cook into simple ingredients and small dishes. Food - 5 stars, without hesitation Service - another 5 stars. Each of the servers were happy, knowledgeable, and just the right amount of funny. Ambiance - no complaints...not like the table next to us, which became one of our main sources of entertainment throughout the night. Don't worry about them, they'll figure things out. Can't wait to go again the next time I'm in London (so snobbish). read more

One of my top 10 meals of all time. Still remember the mushroom soup. This is an expensive tasting menu but absolutely worth doing at least one time in your life. The service was excellent but I was even more impressed with the dishes. Sometimes a highly rated M* restaurant will have great service but the food doesn't necessarily wow me - this was not the case here. read more

I'd say The Ledbury, a 3-star Michelin restaurant, offered me one of the best meals I've had all year. The service is impeccable, the staff is more than observant, and their restaurant offers some of the quiet luxury options that bring together one of the best atmospheres in fine dining. What is even more amazing for the true foodies out there is the stairwell to the restroom that shows their stellar mushroom collection and its growth. They A six-course lunch was about 360 pounds per person, noting that the courses included some supplements such as an amouse bouche and bread before the other items. They are very amicable to dietary restrictions, almost taking them as a challenge to the chef and their team. They call well in advance to your reservation to meet any concerns, and were able to accommodate noting the length of the courses and how it can carry into a supper hour. I would certainly be back and note this as one of the best meals you can have in London. read more

Just got through with dinner. Nice airy yet small restaurant in a quaint neighborhood in Notting Hill. Tasting menu was $145 GBP so about $219 USD per person. They offer 8 items. We choose the 6 item menu as there were a couple of items on the menu I'm not fond of. The appetizers were delicious. Melt in your mouth delicious. The service was what you'd expect from a 2 Michelin star restaurant. Prompt, knowledgeable and very professional. The sommelier was friendly and a perfect fit for The Ledbury. The ONLY reason we're giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the size of the portions of wine. They're literally tasting size yet you're charged for a full glass. They're not even a quarter of a glass. I've never seen anything like it. Coming from California and visiting Napa regularly we found this disappointing. I hope they revisit that as I'm positive we're not the first people to comment on this. The wine selections were good but not worth the money if you decide to buy just a glass and not a bottle Other than that try this restaurant. The food it wonderful. read more

The Ledbury is perfection. The place is minimalist but super comfortable, the service is stunning and the food was gorgeous and delicious. Not a single miss among the dishes served. Food is my thing. I wish it were yarn or sandy white beaches, but no - my thing is food. Given the hype, I was anxious to try this place and luck have it, I was able to secure a reservation a month in advance. I've eaten at a few Michelin star restaurants in the US and was excited to try one in the UK. Our reservation was for 8pm on a Wednesday night. We were there for a total of 4.25 hours. Each minute totally worth the 1000 pounds that we paid. First of all - the goat cheese butter was to die for as was their fresh bread to schmear it on. Part of the tasting: Round little balls filled with venison and juice Lobster meat with basil sorbet and pea tendrils Hen of the woods laying across smoldering rosemary This is just a sample of what we ate that night. Delicious food! We had a 1015pm reservation and still had to wait about 10-15 minutes or so. They led us to a little alcove that faced into the dining room and provided us the drinks menu. The tiny alcove was cozy but a tad awkward as it faced right into the dining room so we were the voyeurs of the room. The overall service was efficient and friendly but some of the service staff could have had a bit more personality. The restaurant manager and the chefs were quite friendly though! The restaurant manager invited us for a tour of the kitchen which was quite exciting. We went with the a la carte option and really enjoyed everything we were served. They have a few different types of bread but the best was the bacon and caramelized onion bread. It looked almost like a cinnamon roll but was flaky and filled with bacon and onion goodness. The amuse bouche items included some sort of squid ink chip and also the courgette soup. The texture of the frozen foie was quite interesting and something I have never seen before. I really enjoyed the roasted scallops! The nori gave it that extra kick that really added to the flavors. Both of the entrees were beautifully plated and were delicious as well. For dessert we tried the souffle, some sort of black currant cream dessert and we were also given a complimentary birthday gift of mille-feuille. Everything was so good. Ice cream inside a souffle! What a treat!! Bacon and Caramelized Onion Bread Chilled Courgette Soup with Crab, Basil and Parmesan Green Bean Salad with Frozen Foie Gras Roast Scallop with Nori and Shaved Cauliflower Filet of Beef and Pork Belly with Roasted Marrow Wild Salmon and Langoustines Passion Fruit Soufflé with Sauternes Ice Cream Mille-Feuille of Mango, Vanilla and Kaffir Lime read more
An incredible meal. Everything from the amuse bouche to the final dessert wine was perfection. The service was impeccable as well. An all-around excellent dining experience. We travel with our kids 11 and 14. We love trying all kinds of dining experiences. Our 11 year-old daughter, who's not the most adventuresome eater loved every dish. She also had some amazing insight into the dishes. We'll turn her into a foodie yet. Five stars are hard to come by in my book. The Ledbury definitely deserves this designation plus a revisit. Bravo. read more
Our favorite meal in London, and one of our favorites anywhere. The Ledbury is a real class act. From service, to the incredibly composed dishes, to the full arc of the tasting menu...if you have one special meal planned for your visit to London, the Ledbury should be it. Disappointed that we couldn't get a dinner reservation for our visit, we were so thrilled that they offered the full tasting menu at lunch (in addition to the set lunch and the 4 course lunch menu). We've often regretted choosing a tasting menu in the past (there's always a flag in the progression that makes you feel as if you should have chosen otherwise), but the Ledbury's menu absolutely lived up to our expectations. From the small bites at the start, through the ridiculously awesome egg/white truffle dish, to the beautiful brown sugar tart, and even the incredible petit fours...this meal was tops from start to finish. A truly world class restaurant that exceeded our (very high) expectations. read more

The Ledbury is a two Michelin Star restaurant in Notting Hill. It is also ranked one of the best restaurant in the world. The decor is modern and chic - without being stuffy or pretentious. The atmosphere is relaxed. The service is attentive, professional and world class. The chef tasting menu is the way to go - it is an incredible experience. Each course was delicately prepared and displayed imagination and innovation in the culinary arts. There was a sophistication to the dishes. One of my favourite dishes was the Lebury's signature dish where the lobster meat was wrapped with shiitake mushrooms. The textures and flavours were an explosion of the senses. I would highly recommend that you give Ledbury a try. For a Michelin Star restaurant, the prices were on par with other Michelin Star restaurants. Make sure you make a reservation well in advance. read more
Wow, wow, wow. I scored reservations to this restaurant for my husband's birthday and when I made the reservation online I did note that we were celebrating. I'm never sure if those notes will come across but they definitely did this time. Our reservation wasn't until 9:45pm but the restaurant was kind enough to call me about 30 minutes before our reservation to tell us that our table was just about free if we wanted to come a little earlier, which we did. Upon arriving my jacket was promptly taken and I was given a hook to hang my purse on the table so that I didn't need to keep my purse on the floor. Also, there was a Happy Birthday card for my husband waiting at the table. Super classy. The entire experience was insanely good. We went with the tasting menu and the associated wine pairings for the full experience which did not disappoint at all. I had a bet going with one of the waiters that I could eat them out of their delicious bread, which I did not. But when we left, they gave us a complementary loaf of bread and their special butter with instructions for baking the next day. Hilarious! The staff is fantastic - relaxed attitudes, very friendly, very funny, and I think we kept them entertained too. Absolutely worth the price and I would not hesitate to go back - excellent way to celebrate my husband's birthday. read more

We had a wonderful experience at The Ledbury! The food was great! The employees were great! This place worth a visit! The employees were warm, and attentive. I felt very comfortable, the place is not stuffy. We ordered the large tasting menu. There were so many great dishes, it was tough to decide on a favorite. I would say the fresh almonds, purple aubergine, and bantams egg were my favorites. I did expect my dessert, brown sugar tart, to be a little more spectacular, but it was still good. read more

Modern & English, The Ledbury is a fantastic example of "I've never had that before, but it's the best version of whatever I just ate." The Ledbury is tucked away in Notting Hill, for the foreigner it feels like an upscale neighborhood that's cozy and quiet. Inside the restaurant you have a clean, minimal, modern aesthetic that does represent the idea of what high-end dining, giving you a sense of a different class of restaurant experience. As is expected, the staff at this establishment is extremely attentive, ensuring every comfort is addressed and taken care of during your visit. Everyone is welcoming and you feel delighted to be dinning at the Ledbury. Small note, the windows allow a lot of light during the evenings when the sunset is later in the day, which is phenomenal for taking photos of your food - this does not take away from romantic aspects of the meal. Platting and plates ranged in their presentation being fun, earthy, warm then shifting to clean and focusing on the food itself. We did not indulge in a wine pairing, but the wine offerings were great and they had simple things like Coca Cola. This might be silly to some, but some Michelin restaurants don't always have simple things like soda, which makes me feel ostracized and the Ledbury had the simple comforts. The amount of food you get for the price is the right amount, the meal is well rounded, but not filling you to the brim like other tasting menus - also allowing you to chose independent items instead of enjoying a prefix. All food in the meal had perfect temperatures, textures, presentations and taste. Ordinary things such as butter were elevated to things like butter with whipped goats whey, sprayed with molasses, making smaller parts of the meal (normally vestigial) yummy and new. The dumplings were presented in a small slice of wood with pine sprigs - while this added nothing to the taste of the food, was creative and gave a down-to-earth vibe contrasting the high end feel of the menu. Have I ever had these breaded deer dumplings before? No. Will I look for them by name? Not really. Were they incredibly delicious and perfectly cooked? Yes. Same concept goes for the Bantams egg - Never had an egg presented this way with the mushrooms and pork meat cuts adorning the runny egg yolk, however it was extremely delicious and satisfying. More juxtaposition - monochromatic plates with colorfully complicated platting, of a simple thing like a egg that you clean up with your bread. Savory, warming and delicious. I can't even really describe the asparagus cream dish, the pictures of the dish do better explanation of what I ate - very interestingly plated, other diners weren't a fan but myself enjoyed is clean taste for once in my life. Last but not least, the mango milfoy desert was spectacular. Crispy, buttery, fruity, gorgeously plated. Other deserts like the whipped desert were tasty but the mango desert was a truly memorable end of the dinner treat. Highly recommended if visiting London. read more
My reservation was at 10pm. Yah, 10pm was the earliest they can give me and it's also the closing time too. Before I came in they told me that the tasting menu was not available for me since 10pm was already too late. But when I sat down, they were pretty cool in getting me the tasting menu. I mean it was a dinner for one. So it would have gone by a lot faster because it was just me. And 2.5 hours later, I finally ate my last bite, and 2.5 hours is actually pretty quick too for this type of meal. And with the tasting menu here is what I had for that evening: Amuse Bouche Salad of Heritage Tomatoes with Goat Cheese, dried olives and green tomato juice Flame Grilled Mackerel with avocado, celtic mustard and shiso. Hampshire buffalo milk curd with Saint-Nectaire, truffle toast and a broth of grilled onions. Dover sole with a herb milk skin, roast cauliflower, mussels and mousserons. Pork cheek with peas, ham and liquorice Portland hogget with wild garlic and an Aubergine Glazed with Black sugar. Saddle of Berkshire Roe Buck with White Beetroot, Red wine lees and bone marrow Pre-dessert Whipped ewes milk yoghurt with wild strawberries, lemon verbena meringues and warm ctirus beignets. My favorites included the saddle of Bershire Roe Buck (deer). It was a nice and tender, and not too gamey. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bEmaFY0A9JwpuxHKJXWx7Q?select=O7eRcen9BTaJGh4d2FHDdg#BDpfGX1eW0w2vJy0BMLqLg And the dessert was a great way to finish the evening. Combination of sweets and tangy from the many fruits was just right. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bEmaFY0A9JwpuxHKJXWx7Q?select=O7eRcen9BTaJGh4d2FHDdg#WzjnhclRNkFIxgkbUBkGxg And that beignet was nice, fluffy and warm too. I was pretty much pub crawling right before I got here so I had to forego on the wine pairing because I was pretty hammered coming in. So I only paid £105 for the tasting menu. Now that's a pretty good deal especially for a 9 course meal. This dinner was a great way to start off my trip in London. Make sure to book your reservations in advance. Michelin: 2 stars in 2012. An English meal so good on American Thanksgiving that I didn't even miss home. Food: Started with a nice (yet awkwardly sweet) amuse bouche of foie gras foam (very mild) and squid ink on a biscuit. Next we had scallop ceviche with seaweed oil and frozen horseradish. Surprisingly, the cold was a good touch. Cornish turbot was cooked perfectly and plated beautifully. The roast quail with fennel was delectable. For dessert, the sommelier recommended a nice red with the cheese plate we specially assembled. To top it all off, the jelly doughnuts were exquisite. Service: The first whiff of the devotion this place had to fine dining is that they didn't give us coat check tickets - just remembered whose coat belonged to whom. Class. The servers were friendly, talkative, and not uppity at all. Ambience: Elegant yet welcoming decor. Dressy and upscale. Bottom Line: When searching for an unbeatable meal in central London, look no further than the Ledbury. read more
Presented whole prior to carving, the GF was a bit aghast, but did not let on. I was ecstatic. A huge honor, considering it was the first of the season and shot by the Chef himself, I was excited to say the least Woodcock Brain, breast, thigh, kebab of heart, raisin Gorgeously presented, the breast was not overly gamey. Quite moist, it served medium rare. The thigh had more of a chew and ate like BBQ. The head was butterflied and obviously housed the brain, which was creamy and surprisingly sweet. Macerated raisins and water chestnuts rounded out the dish. We can't forget about the kebab of heart, lightly grilled, with great texture and a surprising sweetness. Cheese Course [15 Pound Supplement = $24.58] We also opted for the cheese course, presented by a wonderful cheesemonger from Brittany, France. Knowing we were Philly, she jokingly noted that there was no cream cheese, but went through the wide selection on offer. We ultimately decided on an all-British feature, including a wonderful burnt ash goat cheese, which was salty, creamy, and smoky. A gorgeous triple creme herbal milk's cheese. A semi-soft cheese not unlike Camembert. And last, we had a blue cheese that was herbal, yet expectedly funky. Candied smoked pecans and honey were paired with the semi-soft and blue cheese, respectively. Rustic crackers were also provided as well. Pre-Dessert Prune granite, cream custard Pre-dessert was a prune granite over a cream custard. Light and refreshing - the perfect entry to dessert proper. Burnt Cream Chicory, roast pear ice cream, beremeal cake The burnt cream ate like creme brulee without the overt vanilla flavors. The beremeal cake was moist and had a nice spice to it. Strands of pear were paired with the roast pear ice cream providing sweet, slightly tangy flavors. Hazelnut Puffs A pair of hazelnut puffs were light and perfumed, with candied hazelnuts on top to provide texture. Nitro Coconut Coconut ice cream A coconut shell housed nitro coconut ice cream within - cold, delicious, and eaten to great effect with the liquid nitrogen. Juniper Pirouettes Lime Finally, juniper pirouettes housed a tangy lime creme to provide a nice bite to end our meal. But that actually wasn't the end! GM Darren McHugh kindly offered to bring us down to the kitchen to meet Chef Austin and the brigade. Heading down the stairs, I couldn't help but snap a picture of the woodcock guarding the kitchen from above. Quiet and immaculate, it's what you would expect from a proper Michelin-starred restaurant. In addition to introducing us to his staff, Chef brought us out a final snack of chocolate and coffee crisp. Chef Austin also revealed that he had just been to L'Arpege and we both expressed our admiration for all that Chef Alain Passard has accomplished, with the simplest of ingredients. And with a final picture and handshake, our experience came to an end. Service as a whole was extremely precise, yet personable and relaxed. I couldn't rate it any higher. The meal was wonderful, with the quality of the ingredients shining through. It's safe to say that while there are more than few restaurants I'd like to try the next time I'm in London, The Ledbury will be a mainstay of each visit. read more
The Ledbury is one of the best fine dining experiences in London. We went big and splurged on the tasting menu and wine pairings. At £155 a person, it's certainly pricey but not outlandish for a 2 Michelin star restaurant. What followed was an impeccable 9 course meal. Each and every dish was a work of art. The colorful "confetti" duck course even looked like a Jackson Pollack painting (see pic!). My favorite however, has to be the flame grilled mackerel---one of the most flavorful dishes I have ever had. As I'm not a fan of oysters, I substituted a seared scallop in brown butter with baby broccoli for the Chantilly of Oysters---I'm glad I did, the scallop was delicious. The truffle toast that accompanied the buffalo curd was also a standout. The only dish that was a bit lacking was the dessert---a galette of bananas in salt caramel. Bananas for dessert...come on Ledbury you can do better than that! The wine pairings were amazing and really a must have as they do wonders to bring out the flavors of each dish. Service was well choreographed as you would expect though a bit stiff. Our reservation was for 9:45pm, and since the Ledbury was running a bit behind they gave us complimentary glasses of champagne for the 5 minute inconvenience. There is no bar (or even a proper waiting area) at the Ledbury so arrive promptly on time and definitely not early. With our late booking time, having 9 courses meant we literally closed down the place---we left at 1:30am! The wait staff became a lot more casual and cheeky once all the other patrons left, leaving my 3 boisterous Australian dining partners and I to have an extra class of port to close out the experience. read more
The Ledbury is well known as of the best restaurants in London. With two Michelin Stars and an ever-changing tasting menu, this is a world class establishment with a wonderfully unpretentious ambience. No dress code, and a staff that are as genuinely friendly as they are highly trained. Reservations as far in advance as possible are suggested, as their books fill up quickly. We were lucky to secure a table for two just a few days in advance, thanks to their lovely reservations staff. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and seated at a table with a great view of their gorgeous dining room. Romantic soft lighting, high ceilings, and elegant, timeless decor. Luxurious without trying too hard. The wine list was abundant and curated, offering an impressive selection of bottles I had never seen before. The staff sommelier was highly knowledgeable, and recommended a Pinot Noir that we enjoyed. My boyfriend and I each decided to have the tasting menu, which I strongly suggest. They offer a fully vegetarian version for £140 per person (as opposed to the £150 pp for the standard menu). The first few courses were not on the menu-I soon discovered that this tasting menu features several mini courses between the actual courses. The first bites that came out set the tone for an incredible meal-savory tartlets served on a warm stone, elegant canapés filled with vegetable purée. As each course was brought out, our waiter briefly explained the ingredients and preparation. The meal was not only beautifully prepared and plated, but artfully choreographed. My favorite of the main courses was the White Aubergine Dusted with Olive and Black Tea. The tender eggplant fully absorbed the richly tangy marinade. The two herb infused sauces draped alongside were complex and played well together. I savored this dish, attempting to decipher the ingredients. The Hen Of The Woods mushroom was a close second. Roasted with rosemary, and beautifully presented by the chef, the multidimensional earthy flavors were exquisite. While these courses stood out, all of the others were fantastic as well, ranking among the best dishes I have ever eaten. Do not skip dessert. The dessert (and the pre-dessert) blew us away. Served atop a plate of juniper berries were two delicate rolled cookies filled with a spicy and sweet juniper and ginger sugar that melted in our mouths. Alongside were the most decadent chocolate truffles I have ever enjoyed. The main dessert course, Brown Sugar Tart with Stem Ginger Ice Cream was equally impressive. The wafer thin maple scented tart was filled with a creamy gingerbread spiced mousse, served with poached grapes and a decadent fresh ginger ice cream. Just incredible. I cannot say enough good things about The Ledbury-they deserve more than 5 stars. The tasting menu was not only an outstanding meal, but an experience that my boyfriend and I will not forget. I look forward to returning. read more
My first impression of The Ledbury: practically perfect in every way. It was not easy to make a reservation here during Christmas season, but I managed to squeeze one in just before they close. So glad that I did and what a wonderful dinner we had! The Ledbury is located on a quiet residential street at Notting Hill. For a 2 Michelin star establishment it has a very warm and intimate ambience. It's moderately sized and very nicely decorated. I love how their lighting is soft but just bright enough, as opposed to most other fine dining restaurants where I literally have to use the candle light to read the menu, and get sleepier as the meal progresses. I never understand why this seems to be the rule for high end restaurants but I'm glad it wasn't the case at The Ledbury. I'm not going to go in detail for each dish because frankly I can't remember all the names, and it'd be an absolute disgrace to put down "that fish dish with some green sauce on the side". Check out my photos if you are interested. However, I have to say that every dish was impeccable. Beautifully presented, very well balance flavours, nice texture, and we certainly cleared every single plate. That is quite an achievement because there are 9 dishes! All the dishes came promptly, enough time in between, but never made me wonder where's the next one. Our servers were friendly and helpful. This is definitely a meal to remember and I will return at some point in the future... read more

Excellent! The Ledbury is a absolutely fantastic restaurant! The 2 Michillen stars are well deserved. The services is seemless and the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. Get a reservation here if you can. Try to make it a destination when you stay in London they won't disappoint. Now let me talk about the food...Wow! Flavor for days! All the dishes are very well thought out and the wine pairings work wonderfully with the food. I decided to go with the 4 course meal. They have 3 selections to choose from for each course. My choices were: 1st Wild beet root baked in clay, with smoked and dryed eel. 2nd Bantam egg, truffle, English ham(this wine pairing was the most memorable, it was a white French wine made in a Sherry style can't remember the name just that it was awesome!) 3rd Aged Pigeon ,with beets (so good!) 4th Chocolate things with ice cream that has the flavour of fresh herds yummy! I am recalling this from memory finishing writing this in the U.S.A . Want to say that the Ledbury is a special place for a special occasion the whole meal for 2 with wine was 450 dollars American $ or 300 or so pounds well worth it . I highly recommend it! Be prepared to be surprised by the food and treated great by the staff. Thank you Ledbury for a memorable meal and great exspearance! Will hope to return on my next trip to London. read more

Undoubtedly one of my favourite restaurants in London. Brilliant food combined with top-notch service that isn't overbearing or patronising which seems to be the unfortunate norm in certain fine-dining restaurants. The set lunch menu at £35 is a steal for the quality of cooking. The dishes are in essence a simplification of tasting menu dishes with some substitution of ingredients. Venison was in season when I visited - my muntjac and juniper confit was to die for. As a main, the fillet of brill infused with bergamot served with oat-crusted mussels was fantastic. The fish was crispy on the outside but so tender once you cut through...I definitely cleaned the plate. For dessert, we were absolutely torn between passionfruit soufflé, banana galette, and the rhubarb mille-feuille. The maitre'd decided to choose for us...and we ended up with all three desserts! The soufflé came with sauternac ice cream which complemented the lightness of the passionfruit nicely. The caramelised banana galette with peanut butter ice cream was rich but extremely satisfying. The rhubarb mille-feuille was surprisingly light and not too sweet. Petit fours were simple and innovative - such as the bourbon chocolates. Two and a half hours later, when the bill arrived, we noticed that they had only charged us for two desserts to our surprise. The restaurant is simple, and inviting with attentive service. Seriously, nothing but praise from me and definitely deserving of its 2 Michelin stars. PS: Make sure you try the warm, fluffy and delicious bread. The bacon and onion rolls are seriously addictive. read more

Fantastic food, friendly staff, and cheap for London. I always opt for chicken shish kebab whenever I go to a Mediterranean restaurant, but the waitress persuaded me to get their house special, chicken shish. It was absolutely amazing, chicken baked in a casserole dish full of tomatoes sauce and topped with the best yogurt sauce I have ever tasted. The hummus was also fantastic. Please don't get discourage walking in, as I did thinking it was a fast food joint. Just walk past the counter and sit down in the back. I would suggest lowering the music and have a better Turkish ambiance, rather than a random little optical illusion structure. But regardless, the food was phenomenal and I highly recommend the house specialty dishes. During my 2 week vacation, this was the best thing I ate read more

One of my favourite restaurants in London. Actually, one of my favourite restaurants anywhere! Superb service, attention to detail and atmosphere. It is SO important to get these things right, as even if the food is not quite up to the very best standards, you will sill return just because of how you are looked after. Fortunately, the food is even better than the amazing standards set elsewhere in the restaurant! Two Michelin stars I think, but might even be deserving of three! Great flavours that allow the raw ingredients to shine through, and because of this you can really taste the quality inherent in each dish. There is always a balance to the flavours and it all gels together exceptionally well. Not cheap, I have to say, but worth every penny. read more

Overall I was quite disappointed with the Ledbury. We booked well in advance and confirmed twice only to have our booking misplaced on the evening, ending up with a long wait to be seated. When we were finally sat down the food was quite tasty and the staff knowledgeable but we were waiting forever for courses to come not to mention that I had to get up at one point to find a waiter to order some wine. At the end we're met with an astronomical bill. Normally I wouldnt say anything but my colleagues that I took there as a treat were hugely distressed by everything. read more

After a long wait to get a table I finally got to go last weekend. When we were dining at Mugaritz in San Sebastian, one of the chefs recommended this restaurant highly. Mugaritz is the 3rd best restaurant in the world and I am sure before long The Ledbury will claim its rank in the top 10. The food was stunning - love their take on molecular food with 'ash' being used heavily. I am booked again to go for Sunday lunch 4th December. Can't wait! WIll become a regular.
