A colleague took me to Rovi while visiting London. He raved about the unquiet flavors that this chef produces that I couldn't really imagine them. Then I went - I experienced what he was referring to. Menu is super limited (especially for non-veg protein lovers). However, the vegetable and vegetarian dishes weee amazing. Have never had those mouth watering flavor profiles anywhere else. Limited fish and duck items were also well cooked, seasoned and beautifully presented. Service was top notch. Our server was excellent. Ambiance was enteric and urban chic. I would have given it 5 stars but for the limited menu.

I can make this review very short by saying that everything is good. And get everything. All right, if you want details, here are the specific items we ordered: * Grilled hispi cabbage, chestnut and porcini butter, and fried sage * Yorkshire grain fed chicken, coconut milk, and tomatillo peanut salad * Crispy potatoes, butter bean aioli, and vegan nduja * Warm msabbaha chickpeas, confit garlic, and tomato amba * Celeriac shawarma, bkeila, and fermented tomato sandwich * Olive oil ice cream with salt Yes, everything was good. And get everything.

Absolutely loved everything and service was amazing! For 5 we ordered the burrata, celeriac shwarma, iberico pork, ricotta gnudi, corn and feta mash, halibut, potatoes. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend!

Another utterly wonderful London meal. The ambiance was upscale and lovely.

Rovi was absolutely the best meal of our recent trip to London! We sat at the bar for dinner and enjoyed the savory Broccoli with Jerusalem artichoke, miso ssamjang and yuzu vinegar to start. The Burrata was good but probably the weakest link of the meal. I loved the polenta encrusted mushrooms and the kale bhaji. Even though we ate all vegetarian dishes, they were quite filling and we ended up cancelling our order of gnudi. The wines were equally inventive and we thoroughly enjoyed a robust red wine of some kind from Georgia (former Soviet state). Highly recommend!!

Amazing rustic Israeli food. I was beyond impressed with the whole interior and the food. They have a nice bar in the center and its an open kitchen concept which makes it feel like you are part of the whole experience. The service was great, it gets pretty packed around 5-8 so be sure to make reservations. Had this tomatoes crostini dish that was by far the best way to start the meal. For main we shared the Celeriac Shawarma which was outstanding. It was meaty and flavor. Also had ton of drinks, a tad pricey but delicious. The prices are comparable to NYC prices.

Solid flavors in a mostly vegetarian menu, as you would expect in an Ottolenghi restaurant. Classy, understated ambience with attentive service.

I must while visiting London. The kimchi Gruyère fritters, celeriac shawarma, crispy pink fir potatoes and wolves lane tomatoes are a must. Great service and delicious food - every dish had "wow" and "mmm" factor. We had a late dinner so didn't get to try all the items. When I'm in town next, I want to the other items! Oh, the deconstructed mint chocolate ice cream sandwich was delicious too!

I got the celeriac shawarma sandwich, which wins its prize for being one of the best things I ever put in my mouth - really. It was phenomenal, amazingly soft, and just gave a huge amount great amount of flavor. I wouldn't be able to put it into words. If you're coming to ROVI, please do yourself a favor and order the shawarma!

Rovi, one of Yotam Ottolenghi's London restaurants, is a short walk from Oxford street. Though you'll have to brave the crowds to get there, the restaurant is well worth the trip (especially if you are on a plant based diet or if you're simply looking for a delicious meal without feeling awful after.) If you're a fan, the restaurant offers signed cookbooks and other merchandise. If you're just looking for a nice dinner, the room is dimly lit, beautiful, and far quieter than the chaos a few blocks away. The drinks were amazing, the service was great, but the highlight should be on the food. Yotam Ottolenghi's recipes are famous around the world for a reason. We got three plant based dishes and one meat dish. Simply put, I don't understand how they managed to make vegetables taste so darn good. Each onion, pepper, spice and garnish felt intentional. Rovi was exceptional.

One of our favorite meals during this trip to London! We ordered quite a few of the dishes on the menu and loved all of them - the radicchio salad with the partridge was especially excellent and the pairing of kimchi with gruyère in the fritters was super tasty. Service was fantastic and we were surprised at the end of our meal with the fudge; we had not planned to order a dessert as we were quite full from the meal but we had to find a bit more room for the fudge which was delightful. Will definitely plan to visit Rovi again!

Grilled Mackerel, pita, west 1 hold up cocktail
    Pam K.

Ottolengi's is probably very hyped up and I kept that in mind as I know these kind of places can end up being average. I was deeply disappointed in the food and service. The grilled mackerel was overly salted and the seasoning/garnish flavors did not come through because it was so salty. The pita was good but it was a stingy piece, smaller than the palm of my hand which did not make sense as the entree was so salty. The grilled cucumber was okay, quite edible. The west 1 cocktail was honestly the highlight. If I was just getting drinks, it would've been fine. I paid 65£ and it simply wasn't edible enough.

Really good ambience we ordered a lot of small dishes. The chicken shawarma was delicious! Definitely a highlight from all the dishes we ordered. The dessert was OK. Nothing too memorable about it.

We ordered 5 different starters (meze) and then each of us ordered their own main course. The starters were definitely my favourite; in fact - I would recommend future visitors to only order a variety of starters (hot, cold, salads, bakeries) and not even bother with the entrees. These are the starters you may want to go for: Hommos Beiruty, Moutabal Baba Ghanouj, Mouhamara (excellent!), Lahem B'agine & Fattoush Salad. Here's my thoughts on the main courses: one of my friends ordered the sea bass and she said that the cut was very "unfortunate" as she was digging through bones. Usually, she goes, when you cut a fish a certain way, you can actually take out the entire skeleton at once and then enjoy the meat. But maybe this is the Lebanese way of serving the fish? On the upside, when you order meat for a main course, you will be getting heaps of it - the portions are really generous. I, for example, ordered the Chicken Shish Taouk and it was nice. Nevertheless, I suggest you stick with the starters and maybe one chicken dish (which would feed at least two or three). Also, you will find a cover charge on your bill, which "covers" such things as bread and sides of vegetables. Speaking of which, you will find that they place a bowl of fresh vegetables on your table: lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, mini cucumbers, bell pepper & radishes. To be honest, we didn't quite know what to do with them and so we left them mostly untouched. When I slipped away to the bathroom later on, I saw how this salad bowl is supposed to be used: you chop up the veggies and prepare a salad. Doh! The Lebanese beer tastes nice - so I can recommend that as well.

My multi course dinner had all good quality food and was above average and very enjoyable, especially the fish. Certainly plenty to eat! A friend suggested we try out this new cafe by her office and thought it was the perfect day to try it. The shirt rib lunch special is popular so we gave that a try and it was delicious. All of the dishes were presented really well and thought it was such good value for money for the quality of food we were getting. The atmosphere is nice and casual so you can grab a salad or sandwich for a quick bite if you don't want to go for a proper sit down lunch. I'll have to come back and try the salads. Lastly, we had coffee and the sweet potato muffin which was amazing. There aren't many places these days that do proper homemade goods and not the kind that is defrosted! With wine still in our glasses, and coffee still hot?! Sorry, have to give a HUGE thumbs down on service. And offer my disbelief and dissatisfaction at whoever is managing this restaurant and borrowing from Greek culture, whilst missing out on the key component of Greek dining. Either you're a sell out. Or you're an outsider and you're exploiting Greek culture and cuisine. One the website we get: "MAZI, which means 'together' in Greek", but it should be followed with, "... but don't take too long, we will ask you to leave." Having said all of that, and trying not to affect the rest of the review, food was not great. Mushroom Chicken was the best dish (was the priciest line item - second to their service charge - but the only dish that I was impressed with). Tiger Prawn risotto was very bad (both the prawn, and the risotto). Grilled Octopus was average (size, prep and quality of octopus left a lot to be desired). The Calamari Citrus was also less than average. Lot's of the seafood sadly missed the mark - Tuna Crudo was the most satisfactory of all the seafood items. I will say that the cocktails were prepared well. Including a welcome drink. And the juices were fresh - albeit expensive. In fact, everything was overpriced - but it is London, I get it. Still wish the food tasted better. The atmosphere was loud and energetic. The cherry on top was the service charge (highest line item on the bill). Cheers to ownership and management for appropriating Greek culture and putting a heavy London spin on the dining experience. My family would have had some choice words for you, thankfully they were not present to be insulted. Anyone wanting Greek food, I would recommend to look elsewhere. The culture and cuisine has A LOT to offer, unfortunately Mazi disappointed for us.

Every single dish we had was superb, from the jars of tzatziki and tiropita to the crispy calamari and seabass tartare to start. The fresh bread, which was lightly charred, really paired well with the tzatziki and tiropita which were lightly whipped and so flavorful. The seabass came with a cucumber and jalapeno broth which had just the right amount of spice to elevate the fish. For main we split the lamb and grilled octopus which were both perfectly prepared. The lamb, which appeared to be sous vide, was cooked to an exquisite medium rare and the octopus had a great char both was still tender. The service and setting were both great and we highly recommend this establishment.
