I have shopped at End Zone for about 16 years as a well-stocked store for German-style board games…read more There was a time that if you told them what games you liked best, they would recommend a purchase to you with a money-back guarantee that you'd love it. The few times I tried it their recommendation was worth the purchase. Now with almost 500 games in my collection and using BoardGameGeek for most game news, reviews and players' community, I only stop in for board games occasionally if they happen to have something new on hand for as fair a price as anywhere--sometimes works out, sometimes not. Today the stock on hand in the Clearfield store is quite impressive--less so in Bountiful. Indeed the 10% off MSRP prices are less common now than they once were yet I still recommend End Zone for its generally reliable effort to put some 'friendly' into the Friendly Local Game Store shopping experience. That said, if the small staff are tied up chatting with anyone else, the huge amount of stock can be challenging to navigate and find what you're searching for among the stuffed and cluttered shelves. I stop in End Zone more often now for the large LEGO store that now occupies half of the former retail space -- with the DnD and collectible miniatures/card games that one were there having expanded to the retail space next door. Their business has grown a lot! As a frequent LEGO buyer I find End Zone is an awesome store for adult fans and kids. As a 'gold' account member they get to stock many of the large and exclusive sets one normally only finds at LEGO brand stores or online. In pandemic times LEGO exclusives have frequently been out of stock online, so End Zone has proved to be a worthwhile stop for finding what I was seeking. Not always, but regularly. It's unfortunate that one doesn't earn any of the gifts-with-purchase or other loyalty rewards that LEGO offers for purchases through their brand & online stores--which tempers some of my purchases here--but at least End Zone prices their sets at MSRP. Retired set availability can vary widely of course. And End Zone doesn't carry any of the Build-A-Minifigure kiosk exclusives. But at least they are not like the Teton Toys store at Farmington Station who price their LEGO retail stock far above MSRP.

We were about to head out when we stumbled upon a candle sale. They are normally $10 each, but yesterday they were 3 for $10! Of course we impulse bought them because we need Christmas candles :) Once at the register with all of our items (the candles and items for the mask), they automatically scanned a 25% off coupon they had sitting by the register. We saved almost $15 that trip! The one thing I really love about michaels is that there's always an active coupon to use! If you don't have a physical one, then search Google and find a digital one. There's also apps that can help with that.

There's an unsolved mystery at the Layton Hills Mall…read more There's a shop that used to be at the Newgate (Ogden) Mall, which has locations at the Cache Valley and Grand Teton Malls. I went in it this lower-level store, I talked with the owner, I felt the thick, woolen fabric of their stellar ponchos. Yet still, the Layton Hills Mall doesn't yet have it in their directory; there is no website, no Facebook page, no Twitter of Instagram. Be that as it may, I love this place. It has that mom-and-pop flavor with a mishmash of products: The afore mentioned Peruvian coats (for every, yes your reading this correctly, every NFL team); stuffed animals (mostly small dogs); toys including light-shooting rifles (you also heard this right); gigantic animal-themed dreamcatchers; Navajo-type rugs; doll accessories; Baja jackets, and an eclectic variety of things I've only begun to describe. Friendly staff, very reasonable prices, cool stuff ... I may have just seen a mirage in a mall. But I'll be going back to make sure it actually exists. Cool stuff!

They also have "retro" toys, posters, and games (video, card, and board). They have tables set up in the back because I think they have tournaments. At the least they play card and board games. It makes it a lot easier to walk around the shop to look at games. Another thing I noticed was that they were playing gaming music. It just made the shopping experience that much more fun. The last change I noticed was that they had some of their arcade games for sale...and they sold the ninja turtles one! They still have plenty of fun ones to play though! My husband and I played two quick games and then I bought me a switch game to play at home. I really love this shop. It brings back so many childhood memories! They greeted me like an old friend, walked me through their outstanding selection of new and used sets, and seemed genuinely excited about helping me find exactly what I didn't even know I needed. Now let's talk used inventory: Immaculate doesn't even begin to describe the used set I bought. I've seen brand-new boxes from big-box stores with more wear than this beauty. And as if that wasn't enough, when they heard I was from out of town, they shipped my purchase to me -- for free. Who does that? Legends, that's who. The prices?
