I have had an amazing experience with this location of Western Garden Centers through the pandemic…read moresituation. I love supporting local businesses, and I have become a lifelong customer for sure! Curbside service has been a necessity for me, and it has been very easy at Western Garden. Before stores opened to the public, orders were placed by phone, and after stores opened, orders have been taken via email. My order is typically ready in a few hours on weekdays. Then, I just drive up, call the store, pop my trunk, wave to a friendly staff member, and drive home. So easy! (note: curbside service is now just for high risk individuals) Most recently, I picked up a beautiful and fragrant spearmint plant along with several bags of organic potting soil. There are many options, and while it can be difficult to figure out what exactly I want since there isn't an item-by-item list online, I just ask for recommendations and have received excellent products. I would highly recommend supporting Western Garden Centers! They have shown the customer safety and retention is important to them, which I value highly.

It's perfect for spreading a little love and giving someone those warm fuzzies. I was greeted by EMMA! She is a rose in a field of daisies. Engaging, fun, and customer service oriented. I'm not shopping for anything today, but I've added this store to my favorites for a return visit. It's a hot day, and I was thirsty--thankfully, they have a small fridge stocked with a variety of cold drinks. What stood out to me: no plastic bottles, only glass and aluminum! I scanned several options using the Yuka app and most beverages typically score between 0 and 7, labeled "Poor." But the drinks I purchased and scanned at home rated a perfect 100/100 -- "Excellent." It's a great antiques store that's been open about a year and a half, run by an owner who is interested and passionate about the industry of antiques and collectibles. The store is packed full of rusty collectibles like farm equipment, old signs, some housewares and a small rack of vintage clothing, but mostly patina and rust, as the store name suggests, but all mostly clean and very nicely organized which made it easy to browse and look through (i.e. you're not scared of something toppling over when you're trying to look at something behind it). I loved the collection of vintage saddle blankets, antique French wire laundry baskets, vintage and homemade light fixtures, and old ladders. The store feels more masculine than some antique stores, and doesn't have a ton of housewares, which makes it fresh and interesting. There are large items out in the parking lot too. Owner Matt Binyon was in the store when I visited - he's friendly and interested in helping you find what you're looking for. He said some of the items in the store are booth rentals from other collectors and recommended some places I could look for bigger furniture pieces. He also owns American Rust & Patina in Layton, which has more furniture and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, and I need to check out. This is a great asset to Sugarhouse! So glad it's here.

The prices here are better than online and half of what you pay in other major cities. What makes this place Golden is the community and dialogue created by the owner. They haven't just curated a collection of museum quality pieces, they've also curated a community of people with an emphasis on "Keep it in Utah". It's a business model that leaves some sellers scratching their heads because collectors know that if this shop was in Seattle or San Francisco or NYC or Chicago or LA...with these prices? The Store would be emptied in a few Days. That's not hyperbole, THATS. A. FACT. This place isn't a "let's find old stuff to sell for the highest price" kinda place. Its owner is a deeply passionate, intensely kind, Devoted to preserving Utah's history, and a wildly intelligent Human being. The store is their love letter to a city they love. I can't stress how rare and wonderful this store is. I've shopped the internet, the major cities, (many small cities too)...this store has no equal. It is the BEST furniture store in Utah BY A COUNTRY MILE!
