Stopped into Cabin Fever before heading to lunch. What a neat store! They have an array of goodies here. It was hard not to get overly excited to check everything out! I had to look at everything! You don't want to miss anything cool. You got funny cards, lunch boxes, scratch and sniff stickers to movie themed books. I wanted it all! My favorite items were the naughty candy boxes at the register! I was with a family friend and I didn't want her to see me buying the candy boxes but man I wanted one. I did find a neat Harry Potter sticker book for my friend. It has 934 stickers to this book. I'm very excited to give it to her! She is a due hard Harry Potter lover! The gentleman that was working behind the counter was really sweet. He showed me a couple other Harry Potter themed items they had. I thought it was kind of him to show me something I could have missed. He rang me up. Wrapped my friend's book in nice tissue paper and thanked me several times. I have a feeling this could be a locally owned business. I could be wrong but the costumer service here screams locally owned. The salesman was attentive and kind. It was a different kind of customer service. Either way, it was great! I don't know if I'll be back in the area but if I am, I'm definitely coming back to this store to check out their new merch. read more

Trivia: This term refers to an ailment of irritability from long confinements during winter. So many cool things you never thought you would need. (And probably don't need) Go here for the funny, different, unique items. If you come in looking for a particular thing, good luck. But coming in with an open mind, that's where the magic happens. I ended up with three different greeting cards. Only one that I planned to use immediately. Two others that would definitely be used in the future. All of them slightly inappropriate, which was great. I hate to be this person, but I did get the feel that things were priced a little high. A very fun and goofy store with all sorts of interesting products inside like silly knick-knacks, toys, cards, games, books, etc. They sell some funny towels, socks, magnets, and stickers and even some gift-wrapping supplies like tissue paper and wrapping paper. Had a great experience here, service was good and it was fun to look around. It was very easy to spend a long time in here as well. Cabin Fever is like the more innocent sibling to 9th and 9th's Cahoots. When I stopped by, I was looking for a particularly naughty white elephant gift. I was already in the area for other shopping, so hoped they might have just what I needed to avoid going out of my way. Sadly, they were not quite as mischievous in their offerings as I required, and I ended up at Cahoots anyways. That said, they've got loads of super fun things! Tons of really fun and clever cards, books, toys, games, LGBTQ themed stuff, socks, jewelry, and other accessories, and just really all the goofy/creative/fun gifts one could hope for. It was just a few days prior to Christmas and absolutely packed, but the employees were so sweet, friendly and patient. Prices are a little high to me, but it's the regular gift shop pricing, so not unreasonable in comparison to similar stores. While it did not serve the purpose I required on this particular visit, I would certainly return for a gift in the future, especially if I didn't have anything great in mind and needed some inspiration. read more

Gag gifts, novelty books and one-of-a kind books are abundant in this kitschy little shop located on the lower level of trolley square. I stumbled across it while browsing through the near-vacant mall and was excited to find life again. So many other stores are empty, so I'm glad to see something flourishing. There were more customers here than there were in the rest of the building. This store is edgy and caters to people who like slightly unusual and risqué. It may become my new go-to place to find the perfect gift for some of my friends that are hard to shop for. read more

Fun, unique, adult novelty gifts. We came in and had a laugh at some of the items we saw. We were first pulled in there by our 5 year old and quickly discovered it wasn't quite appropriate for her, although she had no idea. She asked for some pink fuzzy handcuffs since the other ones she got from the dollar store had broke and she thought the pink was cute haha Prices are reasonable. It reminded me of a Spencer's. Some locals at Pig & a Jelly Jar sent me to the area where I stumbled across this gem. The store is fantastically full of creative and awesome novelty gift items and collectors gifts. They have great games, books, and cards. The animal gifts were adorable. If you're into a nerdom (Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who) or like to play games, you must swing by. Lots of fun, whimsical, silly things in one store. I suppose the official category here is cards and gifts. You'll find plenty of both, but I'd probably re-order it gifts and cards. There's a decent selection of cards, but it's more interesting for the gifts. Littley gadgety toys, books, post cards. And up to the more adult-ish books. Tucked deep within the bowels of Trolley Square, this glass-walled, off-the-wall gift shop will entertain you, and most likely give you an armful of one-of-a-kind items. Calling it a "Gifts and Cards" shop doesn't begin to do it justice. They have retro-themed lunch boxes; tongue-in-cheek, humorous books; action figures for things you never knew had action figures (Rosie the Riveter, Pulp Fiction, The Fifth Element, Hellraiser, and so on); fridge magnets; goofy clothing accessories (lots of socks); board games and puzzles; fridge magnets; all sorts of goofy gag gifts ... and gags for that matter (think Whoopie cushions,fake puke, poop, and mustaches ); Pop! Funko figures; a bounty of Doctor Who and Star Wars stuff; the most hilarious and original greeting cards is town .... the quirk goes on and on. I loved this place! As an out of town guest, we stopped here specifically looking for the SL,UT tshirts because we thought they were hilarious. (Unfortunately, they didn't have enough variety or sizes). Fortunately for us, we didn't have issues that previous reviewers did with the employee(s). There was a girl working who seemed friendly enough. Anyways - the store itself is adorable!! They have all kinds of funny and quirky little odds and ends. Great little store! It seems fitting that a store like Cabin Fever would be in Trolley Square. It's odd, and certainly wouldn't be on the docket for the likes of City Creek. I love everything about this place. Right down to the name. If I'm looking for a gift that is unique, vintage, or simply a novelty, this and Cahoots (another great store in the same vein) usually come to mind. It's quite small, but packed to the brim with treasures. Measuring from benign to raunchy. Just seedy enough to have to be tucked away in the likes of Trolley, but still really fun, and ultimately just totally enjoyable. Mainly, I just love any store with character, and this has it in spades. Here in ole utah, it can be a fine line, but Cabin Fever is pushing the boundary just enough to be enjoyable, but also remains cute. It's one of those stores I hope I see still up and running on my death bed. It's nostalgic not just for the years I have been coming here, but quite literally its contents. read more

Visited this place because they advertise on my favorite morning radio show. As promised, they have a great selection of funny cards and gifts (some more raunchy than others, heads up for parents and sensitive folks). This could be a great go-to place for something unique for the friend/family member who has everything. Sadly, the person at the store seemed very, very annoyed to have people in the store. I'm sure he's a great person if he's the owner (because we need places like this in SLC). But we were discouraged from spending anything because it was like we were imposing. From reading past reviews, this place has a history of unfriendly staff, so it's doubtful it hurts them much if they're still around after all these years. Wow... Walked into this store and really enjoyed their selection. A little overpriced, but overall I was happy with the things I decided to purchase. I walked up to the counter, had my stuff rang up, and then I pulled out the old plastic... The unfriendly man behind the counter says, "There is a 10 dollar minimum for credit card purchases".... Now, at this point I would have been happy to fork over the cash, but the way the cashier was so unfriendly and rude when saying there was a 10 dollar min for credit card purchases.... well, I had to lay down the law. When a business decides they will accept credit cards they are contractually obligated by the credit card companies to accept credit cards for ALL purchases no matter what the value is. Business owners have a choice, they can either accept credit cards for all purchases or not accept credit cards at all. They cannot have a minimum credit card purchase to offset their fees to the credit card companies. As a fan of snail mail and all things paper I heart Cabin Fever SO HARD. Beyond gift cards, notecards and stationary they have a wide assortment of gift items. I recently found a My First Wonder Woman board book for a friend's one year old and it is super cool. There is usually a small selection of children's books (often reproduced Golden Books) and a variety of interesting toys. If you need any quirky gifts, Cabin Fever has you covered...a few of my past favorite book title purchases: That's Disgusting!, What's Your Poo Telling You?, and Porn for New Moms. Salt Lake Valley can be so uptight, rigid and conservative that it is fantastic to have a friendly and fun place to purchase unique and sarcastic goodies. A word on the staff: other reviewers have mentioned that the staff are uptight or rude, which has NEVER been my experience. The staff have always been friendly. And if you are bitching about it being overpriced, name another place where you can find an awesome selection and combination of such diverse gifts in Salt Lake City. read more

First of all, I would really like to see the crowds back to Trolley Square like it used to. It's a unique place to visit, not to mention all the stores at Trolley now have distinctive styles and Cabin Fever is one of them. The store always has new toys, wrapping paper, stationary, books, gadget and more. You can also find lots of whimsical things with UT logo. What I like the most is the TOYS!! the second arm of the "tales from UT: a dry wedding adventure" begins at the mall ... the trolley square to be exact. per my good friend the groom - who was born and bred in that lovely state - this apparently was the "hipster" part of town. (haha.) to my chagrin, i responded, "REALLY?!" since the pottery barn and williams sonoma around the corner can really throw a girl off. at that point, i figured everything was all relative. our first stop inside the mall was cabin fever - a gift/card shop that housed goods of the much raunchier nature than what i expected. after 30 min of perusing the little shop, i bought a light-my-way jesus keychain and ALMOST got a recyclable grocery bag to match ... however, i couldn't really justify the 20 bucks since i already had $2 TJ ones at home. all the while, i kept thinking, these are clever little utah-ians. jesus continued to light the way throughout the entire trip. he lit up dark nooks and crannies, was used as a reading tool in the car at night and is now a wonderful addendum to my set of keys. hmmm, after reading this, i think there's a special place in hell for people like me. read more

This store has one of a kind selection in cards and books, but their staff is unfriendly. They make you feel uncomfortable for looking at a card or book too long and they follow you around like a hawk. I rarely go to Trolley Square these days. Mostly because there aren't a lot of stores that interest me. But then there's Cabin Fever. I go when I'm in need of a fun gift for someone (or myself). Now is a great time to go for some holiday shopping. They have a random assortment of items such as hilarious books, inappropriate cards, awesome salt and pepper shakers, cute kid stuff, and gag gifts. Need a rad Star Trek mug? They've got it. Love this store - reminds me of Aah's or Spencer's but obviously not as blantantly alternative. I'm not able to always find exactly what I want everytime I go, but it's still a fun shop to look around/kill time. This place is filled with hilarious items! I've received many "Bitch" related things from here as Christmas presents. I don't want to know what that says about me. You can find almost anything in this store! The item that is #1 on my Christmas list is from Cabin Fever. How fun does Cupcake Toothpaste sound?! They offer squirrel underwear, a stamp to burn Jesus into your toast, Wizard of Oz rubber duckies, and a thousand other things that are guaranteed to make you laugh!
