I'm a celiac and have to be gluten free, so I worried, but for no reason! She even made me delicious muffins. Everything I had was made gluten free, with no cross contamination. We were fortunate enough to come across this elegant bed and breakfast while searching online for a last minute weekend getaway. Our dog shares the same name as this B&B so we took that as a sign that this was our place. We stayed in the Lilley Suite. It was especially beautiful. The bathtub is perfect. I've never left a review about a bathtub. This one is just exceptional in terms of how comfortable it is to soak in. We loved our breakfast and the coffee. The owner and operator, Patrick, is a gift to the lakeshore community. He is a visionary artist and it is evident in everything he touches--from the way he decorated the manse, to the way he plated the food--everything has an artist's touch. Cassie, who really is the engine behind the operations, is one of the best event planners I have ever interacted with. She is cool, calm, collected and an absolutely brilliant problem solver. Together, these two come together and bring to life everything you didn't even realize you wanted or needed at your special event. The rooms are absolutely luxe, and each bathroom is equipped with an amazing soaking tub. All of my 36 guests who attended my intimate wedding could not stop raving about every single detail. The yard alone would make me consider coming back and giving the place another visit. The home itself is incredibly spacious, especially for a solo traveler. I spent most of my stay alone in the house and primarily used the larger of the two kitchens. Because the kitchen is so large and has many cabinets and drawers, it took some time to figure out where everything was. A few simple labels for items like silverware, mugs, and plates would make things much easier for guests. I also think a few extra kitchen essentials such as paper plates, plastic utensils, napkins, zip-top bags, or plastic wrap would be helpful additions for longer stays. I did appreciate having access to frozen packs in the freezer for my lunches, and there was some food available during my stay as well. Communication was probably the biggest challenge for me. I never actually met the hosts during my visit, and I had difficulty getting responses to emails while I was there. For example, I had trouble adjusting the temperature in my room and wasn't able to get assistance when I reached out. There was also mention of a mini fridge being added to my room, but it wasn't there upon arrival. None of these issues ruined the trip, but clearer communication and follow-through would definitely improve the guest experience. The home appeared clean overall, though I did notice some dust and hair inside cabinets, closets, and under furniture that may have been overlooked during cleaning. Despite a few frustrations, I really enjoyed the outdoor space and appreciated the pet-friendly environment. With a few small improvements to communication, organization, and attention to detail, this could be an even better experience for future guests.

I worked remotely mornings, sitting on front porch overlooking Fremont Lake, watching the boats, jet skiers, as well as family of ducks and fish jumping in the lake while I worked on my laptop. The cabin is circa 1940, with all modern amenities - such as large kitchen, microwave, coffee pot and internet access. We went for afternoon swims in the lake on our private beach and sat on the docks with a glass of wine at sunset, watching everyone out on the lake, enjoying themselves. We invited family and friends for dinner - and all enjoyed the cabin and the views. We booked our week for summer 2024 - counting down the days til then!

Every aspect of our stay was thoughfully curated, from the meals to the yoga, to the extra activities! I was able to spend quite a bit of time doing some deep thinking in a number of different serene and comfy spaces that gave me great inspiration. For fun, we went kayaking and boating on the beautiful lake, soaked in the hot tub and had amazing conversations in the cozy lodge. Unfortunately I didn't get to the barrel sauna or the fire pit - I'll make sure to get those next time! I was having too much fun to bother with my phone and take any pics, but South Shore Resorts epitomizes the Pure Michigan vibe!!
