She was mostly bed ridden but could sometimes be moved to a wheel chair. The staff treated her like their own grandmother sharing family stories as well as providing care. Walnut Gardens was very supportive of family members. We were free to come and visit whenever we wanted and for as long as we wanted. I was always treated with respect and was given updates on my mother's condition. The senior staff member also texted me when necessary with information. The house is cleaned thoroughly every week. It is a bright and airy home with a sun room dining area and a pleasant backyard. They decorate for all of the holidays to add to the cheeriness. They also have activities with specialists coming in to lead games and music. Of special note is Mr. Al who brings his guitar and leads sing-a-longs once a week. The birthdays of residents are always celebrated with little parties and many family members. It is not just me who was impressed with Walnut Gardens. Every Kaiser nurse, home health aide, and even the doctor commented this was the nicest place they visited among the many they know. I considered that high praise from professionals. If you are looking for a place for your parent or relative, I strongly recommend you visit and consider Walnut Gardens. I know first hand the challenges facing family members with a loved one who is reaching the end of their life. Issac and his team made that experience for me so much easier and I am truly thankful to him and everyone on the staff.

It was such a huge relief to find this amazing home for my mom. The home is clean, smells fresh,…read moreand the garden area is beautiful and inviting. The staff is caring, sweet and attentive to all their clients needs. The meals are prepared daily by the staff and are all home-cooked and tasty. The little "extras" that the Walnut Garden offers are what make it even more special. From exercise classes, to musicians serenading the clients, to holiday celebrations, this home treats their residents as family. The owner, Isaac, is kind, caring and makes each resident feel special. I would highly recommend the Walnut Garden as a wonderful assisted living home. We really could not ask for a better place for my mom to be as she recovers from her illness.

This is my third review of the same problems I keep experiencing at Ivy Park Burbank. One on going…read moreproblem is outings in the community bus. I use a power wheelchair and the bus can only accommodate one wheelchair. There is another gentleman here that uses the same wheelchair as I use and by the way I helped this person obtain his wheelchair after he reached out to me as he was unable on his own to acquire a wheelchair for himself. My help I gave to my fellow resident seems to have been weaponized against me. From the time this person received his wheelchair he was given priority over me for the community outings and I was told I was unfairly going to all the outings before this person received his wheelchair and now he would be going to all of the outings and I couldn't go anymore. I protested and a compromise was enacted. I would be able to get together with the other resident with the wheelchair and discuss which outings we wanted to go to. Now it seems I don't get to know what the monthly outings will be and I find out after the fact. For example there is an outing coming up and this other resident gets to go with no discussion with me to see if I would of liked to go. It would seem that the monthly outings have already been gone over with this favored resident and I'm left in the dark as to any of the outings which I would be interested in. It's blatant discrimination and it is quite prevalent in this community. I am told I can only go to the doctor on Tuesday and Thursday but there are a few residents here where the rules don't apply and can go to doctors appointments anytime of the week. Constantly I have difficulty getting my doctor's appointments approved and have to get into it with the manager of transportation over my doctor's appointments. This community it would seem is all about the favored residence and then everyone else. It's a nice place but it would be great if we had unbiased management. I can't believe after I helped a fellow resident here improve his life with a wheelchair I get no thanks from the management and only obvious discrimination.
