Let's get this out of the way up front. The Lion and Antelope is in Manchester Airport's Terminal 3, so you're not going to casually rock up here and grab a quick bite to eat. Not unless you fancy taking on airport security and armed police, anyway.
As with most airports I've ever passed through, there are limited options for food airside. The Lion and Antelope is about as close to a pub as you're likely to get without the actual pub building. There's beer, courtesy of I think JW Lees, spirits and a reasonable food menu.
I've stopped here twice, both times to get breakfast before an early flight to Europe. Most recently, I went for the largest breakfast they had on offer - the Full Monty. Double bacon, double sausage, black pudding, beans, egg, tomato, mushrooms, hash browns and toast. Yeah, it's about £9 so not the cheapest, but to be honest it's a decent plate of food and it's filling.
If you're after a quick pub breakfast, you can do a lot worse than the Lion and Antelope. If you're after a slice of sourdough rye topped with a poached egg and avocado, or if you've got a bit of a stick up your arse and come here with unrealistic expectations, you'll leave disappointed - but that's not really the fault of the Lion and Antelope.
TL;DR: Does decent enough pub-style breakfasts. Expect airport pricing markup. You can do a lot worse. read more
