At this point, Ephraim McDowell feels less like a healthcare network and more like a place you end…read moreup because you have no other choice. It's the medical equivalent of being shoved into a van, blindfolded, and dropped off at whatever location happens to be open. You don't come here because you trust them--you come here because the alternative is bleeding out in a ditch. Take my experiences. I walked in with a gunshot wound to the hand, and somehow the grand medical conclusion was Flexeril, Tylenol, and a $3,000 bill. Danville's staff has a couple of competent people buried in the chaos, but most of what you deal with feels like confusion wrapped in a scrubs uniform. Then there's Harrodsburg. After getting AC compressor lubricant blasted into my eyes, I got redirected to Lexington like a piece of lost mail. And once I got there? The doctor basically told me I wasted my time, shrugged, and sent me home at 2 a.m. with nothing but more questions and less trust. No explanation. No reasoning. Just a pat on the back and the door. Every visit feels like you've stumbled into their system and can't get out until someone finally decides you're allowed to leave. Communication is scattered, urgency is optional, and half the time you're wondering who--if anyone--is actually steering the ship. But hey, this place is better than dying with no treatment in the middle of a field somewhere. I guess.

All his personal items from extended care were stolen. His nurse was Jennifer. The only person professional was hospice nurse Diane. Worst care ever! I feel he would still be alive if I had transported him from this place.

We arrive at 8:50 like the message said. Checked in, and they called her back at 9:00. I'm thinking okay, this is going to go well. She tells the nurse her symptoms, the nurse is very nice, takes her vitals, has her urinate in a cup -- the usual. At 9:10 the nurse says, the doctor will be in a few moments. We sat in the patient room for an hour. Now, a typical UTI test with the strip takes a few moments to get results. I'm not sure what they were doing for an hour since there was us and maybe two other people in the whole place. At a little after 10, the doctor comes in says yep, its a UTI, I'll call in some antibiotics and just hydrate. Then left. Stayed in the room maybe 2 minutes. Fast forward to an hour later, I go to the pharmacy to get the medication. They have no idea what I'm talking about, they have received nothing for my daughter. Ok...go back out to my car and call them. Talk to the front desk lady, who seemed put upon that she had to deal with an issue. I'm put on hold for a few minutes and she says the doctor will call it in again. 5 minutes later, I get a text from the pharmacy that they have received the prescription. What that tells me is that they simply forgot to send it in the first time. I would have been fine if they had just said oh the doctor forgot to send it in, don't lie and say you will do it again. Will I go here again? Sadly there aren't many choices in Danville to go to when you can't see your regular doctor. However, I think we will start the online care that our insurance recommends -- I dread to see what the bill from this place will be as I have heard they are horrible about putting it into your insurance right.
