My daughter saw Dr. Vargas, she was not warm or friendly as you expect a pediatrician to at least be able to fake. My daughter has never in her life been afraid of going to the doctor but she was upset after this appointment and there were no vaccines involved and she was not sick. My son is an infant. He saw Dr. Cheney. Dr. Cheney offered me some outdated advice on introducing solid foods. He suggested I could start cereals with my 4 month old. When I nicely said that our previous pediatrician had said this was outdated information he didn't allow me to finish what I was saying. If he had it would have been, "The American Academy of Pediatrics [something the clinic's website says he is a part of] and the World Health Organization both state that infants should receive only breast milk or formula for at least the first 6 months not 4-6. Meaning it is not safe or age appropriate to give cereal at 4 months." No he went to a non scientifically based defense mode saying, "The hard core annoying breastfeeding groups have made this up. They think you can give your children only breast milk and never introduce solids." Not only is that not true, as my argument is indeed a fact, it is unprofessional and he was trying to assert himself as dominant by trying to put me down for knowing my facts and being a breastfeeding mother. If that makes me a hard core annoying breastfeeder then I'd say there are a lot of formula feeding moms who are also hard core and annoying as they also care about the health of their children. There were other issues at this visit regarding vaccines but these were my main concerns. I am very concerned for the other patients in this clinic as doctors within a practice generally have sat down and agreed on their recommendations. This was all at a first visit so I'm certain there is more bad advice to be had there. We will be searching for a new clinic.

No one cared. Groups of 5 to 10 nurses or techs would crowd into his room and pepper questions at him, most asking the same question a previous person asked. There are no MDs on duty at Select. Apparently all medical decisions are made by NPs. I was told a doctor reviewed the NP's work but over 3 weeks time no doctor ever examined him or visited him. My husband is on quite a lot of meds, including antidepressants and pain. His medications were changed - by somebody but not a doctor in consultation with either my husband or his prescribing physicians - and he was never told of the changes until he noticed he was not getting what he was supposed to be getting. Finally, my husband was prescribed oxycodone WITHOUT EVER BEING EXAMINED BY A PHYSICIAN. DO NOT GO TO THIS FACILITY.

Dr. Speckner is amazing. She is a mother, which helps, but is very down to earth. When we are freaking out about development, illness, or gaining weight she always brings us back down and gives us a time frame to monitor before taking next steps. Most parents probably don't appreciate that but we know she knows kids a little better than first time parents and appreciate being hit with the reality of things verses having a provider who just says "yes" to everything. Ethics in medicine dictate not denying care, doing no harm and certainly not subjecting a person to something that caused issues. Everytime I went in, she assumed what my condition was and never did a thorough job with asking questions or running a diagnostic if needed. She actually was the one that inspected me physically and found a cyst whereas rose just thought it was an infection and didn't bother to look or do any testing so I was taking meds I didn't need. I am NOW getting medical bills for visits back in AUGUST 2024. When I asked about them, I was told that rose is going through paperwork and making sure everything's correct. One of the bills is something I have NO idea what it's for because it wasn't explained back in my visits in August. I got an email as well saying I owed rose $150 and I paid them via care credit. When I called the office, the receptionist said in a nasty tone "she's going through her paperwork." I explained that I had paid for it via care credit and her response was "ok well she'll have to look over it and call you back". That was last week-nothing. The receptionists are horrible at communication. When I worked at a vet, we would at least leave a message for the dr. They have the option to text but never respond to that either. I was told that because I do not have insurance, it would cost $250. Fine, no problem, I know it costs money, so I paid it and I paid upfront before ever seeing a doctor, or a PA as it turns out. I now have a bill for another $109. They did blood work, I figured it was to test my thyroid as that is the prescription I needed refilled. They never told me though what was being tested, or that it was being sent out. Blood work normally costs me $75 with no insurance in California, I received a bill from Quest for $1,131!!! At no time during my visit was I told there would be additional charges like this. If they had said, "we are sending your blood out for X, Y, and Z and a rough estimate of cost will be $X, I would have said no thank you, only test the thing I need right now. How can Maltman Medical get away with this! I wish I would have read the reviews on here before scheduling an appointment.
