Pros: The nurse practitioners here are adequate for very basic care needs, and they have a lot of availability for appointments. Cons: Here's why they have so much availability. Apex demands that every patient take a urine drug screening at every refill visit, or they won't refill your controlled meds. They also pretty regularly forget to send your med refills in, even when it is the sole reason for your visit. They also put in imaging orders wrong, then argue with you when you call to correct them, then quietly send in the right orders after an imaging specialist calls to tell them the same thing you did. Review Breakdown: My expectations for healthcare are rock-bottom low, so adequate care in reasonable time would be enough for 4 stars. The blanket drug screening policy brought it down to 3 stars. Arguing about imaging orders for no discernible reason brought it down to 2. After all that, forgetting to send in the one (1) non-controlled med we discussed at length brought it down to 1 star. Soapbox: In 22 clinics in 4 different states, I have never encountered a practice that considers it their prerogative to routinely test for criminal drug activity in EVERY patient. This is not a regulatory requirement, it is a personal policy at Apex, and I draw the line at peeing in a cup just because it makes them feel better.

I had a good experience at this local Castle Rock UCHealth Urgent care this morning. I had a…read moreterrible bout of tension headache/nausea/pain that has lasted for days and wasn't getting better. Due to the extreme pain, it took a lot just to drive myself to the clinic, so I walked into the clinic with no appointment this morning. I was seen within five minutes of checking in. The medical assistant who checked me in asked all of the appropriate questions and took my vitals in a professional manner. Ashley, the PA who treated me, saw me right away and gave me some injectable medicines to make me more comfortable. She patiently listened to my issues and concerns, prescribed some medication to help with my symptoms, and discussed a follow-up plan to resolve my pain. I have to say that Ashley and all of the staff saw me in a timely fashion and handled my issues appropriately and professionally. I don't know why some of the reviews of this clinic were negative on Yelp, as I had a good experience, at least as much as I could while not feeling well. I hope that I won't need to go back to Urgent Care for a while, but if I do, I'd feel comfortable and confident returning to UCHealth in Castle Rock.

That morning, I was pushing a heavy chair around (don't ask), and somehow it caught my right big toenail and basically (gross out coming) "flipped" it up off the nailbed at a right angle (yep, straight up). I figured, well, I had a visit scheduled anyway, so I bandaged it up best I could and when I got to the front desk, told them what happened. When I went back, Beth took one look at it and said "Well, this isn't an annual physical anymore!" She immediately pivoted into urgent care mode, numbed me up, and removed the toenail. (Obviously I had to reschedule the physical!). Just last weekend, I came down with a bad cough and wheezing, and on Sunday, I went online to schedule an appt, but the soonest was Tuesday. So I figured, oh well. But in the reason for the appt, I wrote that I was wheezing and coughing. On Monday morning, Beth read that and had the Front Office call me to schedule me in right away. She found a way to squeeze me into her busy schedule. They did an in-house x-ray (didn't know they had that!) which confirmed bronchitis. I was able to start on antibiotics that same day. Also, for what it's worth, everyone there has been there for years - very low turnover, So you have the opportunity to really establish a relationship with these folks.
