Fried shrimp were hand breaded and huge. Catfish were huge and had a cornmeal breading. Homemade Veggie soup had barley and everything but the kitchen sink. That $9.99 cheese curd appetizer was a joke--a tiny handful of cheese curds, with most of them lacking cheese. My friend and I got the tenderloin, which was paper-thin, overcooked, and practically all crust--it felt like eating gravel. Mine tasted freezer-burned, I swear. And those famous potato wedges came out burnt; I believe they were leftover baked potato rejects from their dinner specials, repurposed as potato wedges. The whole meal was overpriced; you're better off driving out of town to a real steakhouse. I highly doubt we will give it a second chance. read more

I've passed the Little Nugget many times and today I decided to dine. It probably hasn't changed much in 20 plus years. Very casual. Brook was our waitress and was working very hard. It appeared there could have used another person in the dining room. She took us to our table and before given a chance to sit and look at the menu she ask what we wanted to drink. I said water with lemon. No lemon she says. And off she goes. She comes back some time later with the water, never did ask if we wanted something else to drink, and we gave her our order. My friend ordered the strip steak, I had 1 trip salad bar and 3 chicken strips. The salad bar was good. Some time later my friend got his meal and it looked delicious, however the steak was very chewy. My 3 chicken strips didn't come until my friend was almost finished with his meal. They finally came and were hot so I think she forgot to order. So I would probably return again and hope for a better experience. read more

Once again, for me, a Danville staple. This is usually the last place I eat before I head back to Dayton. I wouldn't risk a bad experience, so that says something. COVID related: All staff masked, all tables, etc. cleaned properly. Arcade and gambling games shielded. No masks required for guests. Had a cheesesteak sandwich with wedges. My buddy had a trip to the salad bar. Smiles all around. My sandwich was so good my friend ordered one to go after he sampled it! Our server was awesome, put up with our sometimes crazy sense of humor and took great care of us. They had a Tuesday special - soft or hard tacos with all kinds of options. Ok went here for Breakfast. YES BREAKFAST. I remember them having breakfast years ago. It was completely amazing. Truthfully the best breakfast I have had in years. Their dinner well it's the little nugget. You will see the richest to the poorest all sitting together eating. It is that good. The waitress this morning was wonderful. You think you've had bad customer service? I promise I win. So at the Nugget (shocker, I know) we were expecting more and got two tables. After about 45 minutes our waitress asked if they could take the other table and said it was up to us. So we declined. We had six and would've been scrunched. The owner came over, him and I have a few words, I said fine take the table. He left. Five minutes later, a different waitress Cash Me Ousside, came over being very rude and said she's taking the table and proceeds to move it while people are still sitting at it. After a few more words outta her, I told her she was rude. She said "I can be". This led to more words. I told her go get the owner and we will see. So she left, they both came back. He said stuff the he left and Cash Me Ousside called me a "name" and then said "meet me outside" and took off walking. I jumped up and promptly took off after her. The owner was at the grill and told me to get my bill and get out. After a few minutes he calmed down, practically begging me to just go peacefully away. I told him to do something with his waitress. He told me I called her names (I didn't call her a name, she did that) . I told him she said to meet her outside. He said he didn't hear it, just please go sit down. You can't make this up! The entire time there was an empty table behind us that was NEVER seated the whole time we were there . To sum it up, if you go to the Nugget the help might offer to beat you up and the owner will tell he didn't hear it. read more

Stopped by this place while road tripping through IL. While we were first wondering if we made a good choice, due to the lack of anything else in the area but corn fields, we were wonderfully surprised by the food quality and service. When ordering the Kabobs we expected the standard steak, onion, mushroom concoction on a stick. Ummm HELLOOOO big juice steak and deconstructed veggies - grilled and seasoned to perfection! BLT's are my go to and I've had some pretty bad ones but this was delicious. The quality of the ingredients made everything top notch. I'm glad we stopped! What a fun little place! It has a vintage-y biker feel on the outside and a bar atmosphere inside. I had the popcorn chicken special. A nice size handful of popcorn chicken and some very tasty potato wedges with cheese sauce and honey mustard on the side. Both dipping sauces were good on the chicken and the potato wedges. Their claim to fame is the fact that you can cook your own meat on their grill if you order steaks and such. The grill looked a bit like the grills at hibacho restaurants. We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend as we were traveling west. The dining room area of the place was closed for the day so we sat in the bar and that would have been okay if it wasn't for the three or four loud redneck guys drinking beer and being somewhat off color in their conversation. That was not the kind of ambiance I had been looking for. The coffee tasted allright but it was warm, not hot. The soup of the day was French onion and I thought I'd give it a try, a mistake. Like the coffee, it was lukewarm and rather greasy tasting with no gruyere heese and/or bread on top. My husband ordered the special of the day which was chicken fried steak which came with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn and a random slice of plain white sandwich bread. He proclaimed it "good" with a shrug of his shoulders. My entree was the patty melt which came with a side of potato wedges. The potato wedges were the best thing about the meal especially since they came with a little cup of cheese sauce for dipping. Well, I've been coming here for 50 years. The new owner put a little money back into the place. The last remodel was painting the ceiling. This time they put in some new flooring and sheet tin panels in the bar area. Made it better, but they also significantly increased the prices. Still good food, cold beer, sometimes slow service. It's a gold mine. The 5 for $5 beers are now 5 for $8.50 on Thursday. Service is very slow tonight. read more

Ehhh... definitely wouldn't agree with the "finest hand cut steaks" ribeye steak looked like one you'd picked out of the supermarket packaged meat section. While yes, those can be great cooked steaks they aren't the "finest" and definitely not worth the $28!! Secondly I ordered the onion straw and jalapeños and couldn't tell the taste different. The batter was very overpowering taste of just bread. No seasoning or anything. Salad bar was a eat at your own risk kinda place. Constantly dirty, food and spoons mixed in other cups plates where hot just not very appealing. Our waitress was not very impressive either. Paid way to much attention to the tables with men out on a binge. That table was ordering beverages left and right and they came up promptly delivered by her but she couldn't find the time to get us refills or ask if we needed anything after our food was dropped off. For the $65 we paid for our meal we could've went to an actual steak house and got better service, food and atmosphere!
