What a great find, being conveniently located near our USC destination! I came across The Live after seeing eligible hotels using my credit card points and the reviews convinced me to book a room. My best friend and I agreed the room space and amenities are perfect. For example, not all hotel rooms with fridges have freezers. The fridge in our booked room has a freezer, making it especially convenient for our travel cooler ice packs! Parking for $16.50/night is a steal and what's great is if their covered parking garage is full, you can park across the street in a gated parking lot, which helps customers to feel safe. Salvador took good care of us as soon as we arrived. There is a hotel agent live through the brutal kiosk also then staff aren't scheduled in-person. Since we were staying on a weekend, Salvador explained that's why we had in-person service. In the morning when we checked out, staff assisted us promptly and answered my question about the deposit refund timeline. Checkout was extremely fast! Horrible hotel! COCKROACH INFESTATION! Stay away! Horrible experience from check in to the end. - wrong room (gave us smoking room when we requested non smoking). - second room was filled with cockroaches (see photos and videos) in all of the rooms. Disgusting! - plumbing problems causing sewerage and gunk to flow back up into the bath and shower anytime the toilet flushed. And they didn't even reimburse us for all these mistakes and disgusting situations. Do not stay here. Choose elsewhere. read more

The Live Hotels was wonderful! The staff were extremely helpful (we used the virtual agent to check-in and she was great!) Quick and efficient! The Hotel itself is definitely a gem in that area. I'll be honest. I was a little nervous when we pulled up because the area surrounding the hotel is slightly questionable but as soon as we pulled into the secure underground lot and walked into the lobby all my concerns melted away. The lobby was pristine. I mean absolutely perfect! Decorated cute and quaint, kind of gives you a Parisian feel. They have the cutest Cafe that serves breakfast and a few other snacks, people were noshing away on lite bites when we checked in around 3pm. There's an elevator that took us to the 2nd floor (it only holds two people at a time though so just be forewarned) there's also a cute spiral staircase that we used for the rest of our stay instead. Our room was immaculate, simple and modern. The air was cool and strong (just what this Mama needs) and our bathroom was fully stocked with everything we needed. There's a mini fridge and coffee maker, no microwave in the room but one in the lobby that we used. We had Uber Eats deliver us an early dinner from a local Italian restaurant that was wonderful and the driver delivered to our room with no issue. All in all we were in town to see a show at The Belasco and would absolutely recommend it if you're planning a trip to do anything in Downtown LA! We will definitely stay there again! I was in the area for business and one night. The check-in process was smooth and the staff at the counter were very nice. They said I was upgraded to a junior suite. The room was very small, loud AC, stained carpet, stained head rest and smelled like water damage or a dog possibly was there previously. Every towel had some hair on it and some of the pillows had stains. The smell of the room was difficult to deal with. The parking lot was very tiny and limited. The elevator was small and dated. Not sure about the photos but those appear to be specific renovated rooms while the rest is super old. I was in the area for business and would not recommend it for business travelers because of the area, limited parking and no guarantee you will get a newer room vs extremely old room. read more

I will start with the staff because I would have likely given a 2 star rating. The staff was very customer service oriented and check in and out was very smooth. The rooms do not look anything like previous pictures on yelp. Not sure if those are remodeled rooms or not. Our room looked old and was pretty dark. The carpet was also very dingy and had stains. The beds were also not comfortable at all. Was a very restless night! The area around the hotel was not great either. For the price of $182.70 for one night, I would not stay here again. read more

There is also a swimming pool on the first floor and laundry room on the second floor! Don't do it! You get what you pay for. Or in my case, waste your money. The pictures are deceiving. There was no where to park in the structure attached to the hotel. We had to park across the street in a sketchy area. The moment I stepped into the hotel I was hit with an unpleasant smell. It is an older hotel so I hoped the smell was limited to the lobby. I was greeted by a kiosk, a live person on a screen. Not bad but strange. It was late about 11pm and my young daughter and I were exhausted from a long day. The room was hot and humid! It was warmer inside the room than it was outside. There is a remote to start the air. It didn't seem to be working. Big spider in the bathroom. No big deal, I killed it. Then I looked at the bed. The foot of the bed was a bench and it was dirty. Like a brown smear and white splotches. I didn't even want to pull back the sheets at that point. I just wanted to get out of there. It felt like a nightmare. I went to the front desk and asked for a refund. I didn't care at this point that I had to drive 2 hours home in the middle of the night. I just knew I couldn't stay there. The receptionist was nice but didn't seem to know what to do or could do. I was not offered a new room, a discount, nothing. Just apologies. We booked within the 24hour window, so they won't refund me. It was a spontaneous decision to stay the night after a concert. I trusted the pictures. I'm out $200 for a bad experience. This hotel served its purpose and felt safe inside. PROS: It's got a good amount of amenities. It does have a pool (we did not use during our visit) although I believe it is open from 10-7/8 for summer hours. The AC took a while to kick in but it did its job. The room we got was on the 4th floor and it was at the very end of the building we had to turn right 3 times lol. Farthest away from the elevator but was a good way to get our steps in lol. The water pressure for the toilet, shower and sink were good. Clean bathrooms, linen and furniture. Every appliance was in a good working condition. Beds were a little bit firm but comfortable enough to sleep in. No noisy spring noises when turning in bed. The service was quick especially with the virtual assistant in a machine at the front lobby. The front lobby is nice and big and well lit. Nice seats available for waiting. Early check in for luggages are available. I'm not sure if there's a charge but it is available. Walkable to a couple of restaurants and fast food spots. 7-11 is close by as well. Great and quick service by staff. Theres a tom n toms cafe/coffee shop within the hotel if the ones provided by the hotel is not enough. There is also a vending machine in the lobby. There's a microwave and a toaster available in the common area of the lobby. There's also a pool table in level 1 of the building for guests to use and a bunch of couches to sit and lounge on. CONS: Not a lot of parking available for the guests, I'm not sure if there is another designated parking lot for more guests because it's a pretty big hotel but only very few parking spaces. Walking around this hotel did not feel as safe. There are tents by the hotel and trash everywhere by the street, very misleading but the inside of the hotel is a whole different ambiance and we did feel safe inside. Another con is that there's not a lot of walkable areas around it to see or explore but thankfully there was a Shabuya next to it so you can easily walk to the restaurant instead of paying for valet. The elevator only holds 4 people and it is absolutely humid in that thing. I was sweating before even getting out of the hotel lol. Overall, not a bad stay. I think without my discount it is a pretty pricey stay but it does have a pool and other amenities. I'd stay here again but it would not be my first choice. Great service though and love having a cafe right downstairs. Easy check in and out. Would recommend for quick trips on a budget. read more

Do not go here. Maybe if the room was $100 instead of $200 I would feel differently. We checked in (the staff was nice) and went to the room (a "junior suite"). I've never seen anything so bizarre and I've stayed in some bad hotels. On the good side? It was clean. On the bad side? Oh dear. 1. The bathroom had a weird entryway/additional ROOM between the toilet/vanity (why wasn't the vanity in this space?) and the shower. Inexplicable space that was used for nothing. Just empty. It could've had a dressing table, and a chair and looked stylish. But nope. It just left you wondering...WTF? 2. The room had NO color except a stained gray couch. There was nowhere else to sit except two uncomfortable chairs and a small round table (which was all scratched up and had seen better days) under the TV (which was on the wall). There was no lamp next to the sofa. The only light in the living room was an overhead next to the door. Again....WTF? I had to ask for one and the maintenance guy brought it, but it was a table lamp. Is there an end table on which to place this lamp? Nope. How hard is a floor lamp? 3. There was no artwork at all, not even bad hotel art. Just blank white walls. 4. Almost the entire room had hideous fluorescent tone, very harsh lights. WHO DOES THAT in a hotel? 5. Bathroom fan was absurdly loud. 6. The AC (only in the bedroom) made a high pitched whining noise. 7. The floor in the living room was weirdly uneven as if someone left something under the pergo floor. 8. Room did NOT look like any of the rooms in the photos. Not remotely. I complained about the AC and was shown two other rooms. Both made the same noise. They both looked a little more like the photos. I'm not a normally picky person but this room was so sad and unpleasant. We cancelled on the spot and were given a refund. To be fair, the staff was very nice about the whole thing but it was not a good way to start a vacation. We stayed elsewhere. Do not stay here. read more

This is one of the worst places for customer service I've ever seen. I made a reservation for one night through Priceline which I'm a Platinum member. I haven't had a physical ID since it burned in the PALISADES FIRES. I haven't had a permanent address in close to a year and the only way to receive my new license is if I have a permanent address. So this hotel refuses to take the ID I have on my phone and will not let me change the reservation to my husbands name who has a physical ID. So here I am at 3:30am with nowhere to stay besides my car. The best part is that the hotel will not refund the money I paid for the room. They want to keep my money and I am now out The $212 I paid to just lay down for a few hours. That's the service that they give to victims of the California fires. Great job Live Hotel thank you for treating your guests like sh..!!!! Good looking out. Hopefully your hotel looses a lot of business do to this review and your ridiculous treatment you provide to your guests. This place is really not the cleanest and would recommend bringing your own sanitizer to sterilize your room prior sitting on any furniture and definitely ask them to change the sheets to make sure they are fresh. We reserved a room for a weekend stay to see our kid compete in Los Angeles. (we're from Vegas) We were driving to Los Angeles to the Live Hotel and unfortunately our car broke down in Barstow. We called Live Hotel about our situation to see if they would remove the cancelation fee or move our reservations to another date because our kid played in Los Angeles the following week. Unfortuantely the manager said, "No, Policy is Policy". I get it, but the way he said it, it felt that he didn't believe us. I mentioned that we have the invoice of the tow and wouldn't be able to go to Los Angeles. But didn't show at least the slightest compassion about our situation. After looking everywhere for hotels for a good price and and in a good area this hotel is that. Everytime we come to LA we will be staying here. Although our AC was loud we didn't mind because the convenience of the area and affordability is what matters. We ended up extending our stay after we checked out and upgraded to the 2 queen bed rooms and that one is way better than the double beds because it came with a tub for our baby and the AC unit in there is quiet. For the price you aren't getting the four seasons but you are going to be comfortable. Bring your own pillows if you don't like yours thick. I booked a remodel room with a double bed and they gave me the hardest time to get what I PAID for. They have the worst customer service who will get loud with you and talk back because they're not meeting their standards. After they gave me a "remodeled" room they put me in the room with the worst air conditioning ever. Telling me to wait 10-15 in a hot humid room. They're just taking advantage of me at this point. I just wanted to shower and be cool. I have a broken toe so it's inconvenient that I'm walking up and down to get a decent room. Honestly they made me cry, I don't know what I've done to get this horrible service.... Maintenance literally just walked in without knocking. I got here at 3:30 it's now 5:49 waste of my time and money... and they tried to steal my deposit when I checked out before my time was up.. and the tub water comes out rusty too. read more

First time staying here. I liked that there was a virtual assistant in the front desk. Introvert friendly hehe. She was nice too. The room is clean and put together. Has a coffee maker,microwave and fridge. Pretty set up. Reasonable price. Pretty good price to park there which is hard to get in other hotels. But there were some annoyances I had... The pillows were small. Like half size, way too fluffy for my taste. You can see it on the pic I took. The fridge was too loud. The light sensors turn on every time you get near. When you walk in the restroom the lights and fan turn on. So if you get up at night it will wake your partner. And it's really loud. The heater is really loud too. Oh also the fridge. My husband and I agreed that it needs more mirrors and art work to make room better. The breakfast was free but it was very minimal. I had the most wonderful healing experience staying @ The Live Hotel after a devastating fire in my apartment where the overhead sprinklers came on an ruined all my belongings. I was traumatized & afraid. This all happened the week of Thanksgiving so I was sad to have my holidays ruined. The staff there welcomed me with open arms & on Thanksgiving day the lady @ the front desk brought me complimentary breakfast room service I can't tell you how much that meant to me. The staff here were friendly, kind & supportive. They always said hello & goodbye & acknowledged me. I felt seen, supported & heard. My room was always immaculate. My stay was two months while renovations to my apartment took place. I spent Christmas & NYE here. I was in a suite complete with a kitchen, refrigerator, and housewares. Daily maid service would come and clean the kitchen as well as living quarters. This was a huge help to me. Maid service paid close attention to detail and made me feel very comfortable & safe. When I say this place is immaculate I mean it. The front desk staff is very accommodating, welcoming, knowledgeable, and kind. They run like a well oiled machine. I can't say enough about them, truly class acts, especially Moses, who went out of his way to help me on several occasions. During my stay, the LA fires began and we received an emergency alert to evacuate. I was really afraid because I had already dealt with losing all my things to my apartment catching on fire and being relocated, the last thing I wanted to do was have to evacuate. I was thinking, where would I even go at this point. when I arrive to the hotel I spoke with Moses about the evacuation alert and he put my mind at ease. Meant the world to me & made me feel safe. I really appreciate all the staff here. I'm so grateful for the kindness and generosity that I received here at the live hotel and I completely and and totally recommend them 100% especially for people who have lost their homes to the Los Angeles fires . Other great features are the virtual check in & reservation staff who also greet & interact with guests. There parking, laundry service and a pool. It's walking distance to LA Live, Crypto Center, Ralph's, Whole Foods, Target & everything else DTLA has to offer. 711 is a block away as well as public transportation is very close & accessible. This is our first time staying here. I believe this hotel was Ramada before because I saw a laundry bag and parking ticket that had Ramada printed on it. After I checked in, went to the room assigned, and the key didn't work. I could hear someone coughing inside the room. I went back to the lobby and told the front desk guy. He didn't believe me so he went to the room and tried the key himself, didn't work He told me to wait for him, he went downstairs to get another room for me. I waited and I could hear him talking to 2 different guests. One needed help with buying sodas and the other one getting a Doordash order. He forgot me waiting for him. I went downstairs and he said oh no I almost forgot. After half an hour finally I got a key for a new room How could he not know that the room he assigned me was already taken? What if I opened the door and that guest got upset and would do something to me in order to protect himself. Just think a stranger open the door from your hotel room with the same key to access? The air conditioning unit was so loud I couldn't sleep but I thought LG products were good but this particular unit really needed maintenance. The toilet appeared to have someone using it and forgot to flush previously. Shower stall was visibly dirty. I chose this hotel is based on the pictures from the website. The pictures look so good and I believed it, what a big mistake. Don't fall for the glorified pictures of this place on Expedia or TripAdvisor. Safety and cleanliness and unprofessional service were major issues. read more
