I had another great stay here. The staff are always super helpful and kind. I usually stay on the 3rd or 4th/top floor and am amazed that 6th street outside can rarely be heard. The daily wine hour between 6-7:30 usually offers and an assortment of good wines and interesting conversations, The crowd is often a lot of hip Koreans and Korean Americans, and other global minded tasteful travelers. The beds and pillows are great and the water pressure from the shower is nice. I always stop for a lunch burger from Cassel's downstairs. It is known at the best burger in L.A. Normandie club has great cocktails in the building as well. I guess they now have a 1 star Michelin joint in here too, Places nearby I like are Umaya for Japanese, and Brothers and kBBQ AYCE for Korean. The Donut King across the street on 6th has been run by the same Cambodian Chinese family for 20 years. I like supporting their business as well. Overall it's a great spot for me as I'm usually back at the USC campus once a year and I like heading quickly to DTLA from here as well. I'll continue to stay here! read more

Not the best hotel in Ktown but you get what you paid for. It's in a good location that's within walking distance to some good shops (conveniently located close to hmart). There's not much room in the standard room but the water pressure from the shower was really strong and they have a texting service that makes it easy to communicate with the staff. They allowed us to check in early (around 11-12ish) without having to pay extra. Our room was at the very end of a hall and there was a lingering smell of cigarettes coming from somewhere (but the staff fixed that) and we did see one (dead) cockroach in the middle of the hall. read more

Hotel Normandy ticks all the boxes for my perfect hotel stay. It's in a very walkable area of LA for food and entertainment. Plus it's a block from one of he city's subway lines. The hotel itself is gorgeous inside and my room was the relaxing escape I needed, including plenty of hot water and pressure for a shower. That might seem small but when you've stayed places that don't have it, you learn to check on such details. The staff was always accommodating and helpful. The room was nice and so was front desk staff but I called ahead to ask if they had valet before I booked my stay and they said yes. I showed up and there was a security guard out front so I asked if this is where I valet and he said yes then disappeared. So I left my car in the loading zone and went inside to ask the front desk. We also had a few heavy gift boxes plus suitcases and no one offered us a luggage cart. When I asked the Check in desk who I can give my keys to for valet they told me I had to drive the car to a valet parking lot around the corner. So we put our bags in the room, came back outside to drive our car to the other location. It's just an open parking lot, not covered or gated so I didn't quite feel comfortable leaving it there overnight but had no other choice. The valet guy also didn't park the car for us we still did that part and he did not want to take our keys. The next morning we were trying to leave and so was another person. Both of our cars were blocked in and we had to wait for the attendant to repeatedly run over to the hotel to get car keys from their guests. I would have chosen a different hotel with real valet if I was informed of all this when I called ahead to ask. Or at least they should have hotel employee drive your car over to the lot for you so you don't have to walk your luggage across multiple crosswalks read more

Beautiful old hotel from 1926 in Korea town. Some halls and rooms feel a bit creepy but very tidy and clean. Nice staff. Parking is at a lot across the street. Don't use the scan to pay for parking go to the hotel and pay through them. It's cheaper. We found out the hard way and overpaid on the scanner. Nice restaurant on the corner of the hotel. Would have been nice for the hotel to offer a discount incentive for this. They didn't. The hotel offers wine but it was much later than we were there and not offered when we got back. This is 1/2 mile from the Wiltern theater. It was ok to walk but wouldn't do it alone. I do recommend this beautiful hotel. read more

My first time at this hotel and I would say it's a solid place to sleep at. The room does give you more of an old school style vibe. They don't have smart TV but I'm ok with regular TV. Checking in was easy but I came in at 12am. Kevin did an amazing helping me. I love the face that they offer purified water in each floors and the of course they have ice right next to it. Another thing I like about this hotel is they have staffs that will send you text msg to check up on my needs and also asked if I needed a wake up call or cab the day before I checked out the place. I ended up msging them to that I want to checkout by 1pm. It is just that easy to communicate with them. CJ and Frankie were very helpful. Checking out is 12:00pm but they offered until 1pm free of charge. I will definitely recommend this spot since the price is reasonable and it's in Koreatown. There's alot of things you can eat and do there. Too bad I didn't think about taking pictures. read more

For $45, would have been nice to have valet bring car to the hotel vs having to walk. Building is old and outdated. Rooms very small for family of 4. Bathroom was very dated and felt and looked dirty. Walkways down hallways creaked. Felt like old hotels in NYC. Low key a bit creepy. Overall though, location and staff was very nice. read more

This is such a cute, vintage, and SAFE hotel! My girl friends and I visited Koreatown for a weekend trip; this hotel was the perfect spot to stay. The staff is very attentive and welcoming. We were able to leave our luggage after checking out and come back before our flight. Another plus is that this hotel has many places that you walk to or rideshare! For wine lovers or those who want to try wine, the hotel provides complimentary wine from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM in the lobby! The only con of this hotel is that it is vintage/old. The rooms had a smell, but I think it's because the hotel is very old. The bathroom had no air vent, so the steam from the shower made it feel like a sauna. A lot of positives here. Great location in the heart of Koreatown. Helpful staff with a high attention to detail. Charming vintage rooms. However, there were also a few big negatives that kept our stay from being a great one. The first night, we discovered that our room was situated on the side of the hotel next to a nightclub. It was loud in our room until the wee hours of the morning. Earplugs in the room would have been a nice touch here. The morning, unfortunately was not better. I woke just after 9am to the crashing sound of what I believe was the cleaning staff's cart arriving on our floor of the hotel. The walls are thin here, so we could clearly hear the staff knocking on the doors of other rooms. Given that the noises that woke me were all outside of our room, the do not disturb sign doesn't help much here. Unfortunately, with how hard it was to get a good night's sleep on the weekend here, I can't say I'd want to return. read more

The only reason it gets three is because of the customer service of the young gentleman working at the front desk. Otherwise its a two star for me. The location and price are good but it needs an update. I understand the appeal to some of old, rustic hotels in LA but its not my cup of tea. This was 2nd stay here and I was fairly sure I didnt like it the first time but I took a chance. Our room was an upgrade and still not comfortable. There were flies from I dont know where because the windows were closed. So many, dings, dents, scuffs, and scratches on the walls and carpet. I mean it was fairly clean minus the flies but its hard to overlook the visible toll that this hotel has endured. The bathroom is so small. You can sit on the toilet and open the door or touch the sink. Not comfortable at all. No place to put hair accessories or toiletries.... The wine hour is a nice touch but I have to write this review to remind myself not to stay here again. read more

Want to be racially profiled and stay in a hotel that smells like urine with no working AC? Visit Hotel Normandie LA! I want to start off by avoiding all curse words so that you take my review seriously and not dismiss this as a Karen-esque rant. This is by far the worst hotel I have stayed at this past year (over 20+ trips in 2025). My partner and I genuinely could not believe how in the world this property received a 4 star rating. We had a horrible experience over New Years and want to detail the issues so that you make an informed decision: -the hallways literally smell like urine. I spoke with a manager today and he told me that was a common complaint and it was the "historic" wood of the building -AC was not working and it was the days LA was hit with a rain storm. Spoke to staff but no one came up to assist. -Television was not working, no assistance from staff. Had to plug in my laptop -Incredibly loud construction noise (video attached) -I was asked to ID myself when asking for a gym guest pass and was then told to come back later EVEN AFTER I ID'd myself. We wanted to speak to manager on Friday 1/2 but apparently he, Adam, was not in until Monday 1/5. Staff told me they'd forward my info to him and he'd call back. I spoke with him today 2:20pm. He comped me $80 parking and said that was all he could do. His responses: -Urine smell: Common complaint and part of the property -AC and TV: No comment, staff "should have" gone -Being ID'd for a gym pass: He admitted that THAT IS NOT the policy for guests (but I guess it's ok that it happened to me??) -Incredibly loud noise: Didn't bother to view the video before saying "all I can do is the free parking". All pettiness and grievances aside, view that video and really ask yourself if "free parking" is an acceptable responses to that. So if you're a person of color like me and want to go to a hotel where the staff assume you don't belong there, want to stay in a room that smells like urine, and struggle with the AC during a storm then Hotel Normandie is your place. If not, and maybe you don' t like to be profiled there's a lot of other hotels nearby you should give a try. read more

We had an overall great experience. I had read parking was a bit annoying but in a city setting I am lucky that this hotel has a reserved lot at all! In trying to locate it, I called the hotel where Adam answered right away and gave me easy directions. The lot had valet available and they were quick to always meet our needs. I would say don't listen to the phone text or app in trying to let them know ahead of time to check out your car. Check-in didn't take too much time and I was waiting in line, another attendant came right away to avoid too much of a wait. Same for check-out. The room was small but clean. We don't need anything too fancy. There was a small fridge which was perfect for leftovers and holding our liquor and mixers. You know, I absolutely HATE leaving bad reviews but this experience was just not good which sucks because I've stayed at Hotel Normandie once before this & there were no issues. This time it was like they went out of their way to piss me off . I landed at LAX at 10am so I thought I wouldn't be able to check in until at least 1pm but luckily they were kind enough to get me into my room at 11am which was perfect. That is the ONLY good thing about this trip. Let's start with the elevator. Every single time I was on it I swear it felt like it was STRUGGLING to get to the next floor. I'm like ummmm this doesn't feel right, let me take the stairs. It's an old hotel but it didn't feel like that on my 1st stay. I get to my room & it looked fine but the A/C was acting up, I'm like ok I'll deal with this later since I have errands to run. I go out to run my errands & then get back so I can shower before going out. While I'm in the shower I noticed that the water wasn't going down.......... If it's one thing I absolutely HATE it's when the water doesn't go down fast enough in the shower. I dealt with that in my childhood so I'm NOT dealing with it as a PAYING Adult I was SOOOOOOO mad about the shower but what can you do, I was already rushing to meet up with friends so I had to go. I completely forgot to address the A/C problem which was my fault but I was checking out the next day so I just brushed it off. I got back to my hotel at like 5 or 6am so you KNOW I'm not waking up for a noon checkout. I asked the guy at the front how much was it for a late checkout & he's like it's free up until 1pm & I'm like nahhhh I'll need at least until 3. He tells me it's a 100 dollar charge up until 4pm & then I'm charged for another night. This is completely fine with me & I tell him let's do that. I said I'll be out before 4 and he said ok that's fine & then wrote it down. What do you think happened at noon? If you guessed that I was CONSTANTLY woken up than you guessed right. I had constant knocks on the door to check out, then I had constant phone calls to the room, then I had someone actually enter the room. I'm like what is EVEN going on. I fall back asleep & notice they even called my cell phone I'm like dude COME ON, I already spoke to the guy at the front about this. I just got up cranky as hell & checked out & paid the 100 dollar fee. After all of that I think I'm done with Normandie, I'll just pay the extra dollars to stay at the Line Hotel whenever I need to be in K-Town. read more

It was my fault that I didn't look at the room photos before I booked but the high rating on the Agoda booking app is what prompted me to make this last minute booking. I've stayed in Koreatown multiple times and wanted to try a new hotel. BAD IDEA. The elevator at this hotel took foreverrr and when I hastily got off at the wrong floor, I didn't wanna wait any longer so had to carry my 50lb luggage up one more floor. I guess the upside is that I got in more steps and activity but if you're looking for a no fuss, relaxing stay, then avoid this hotel. This hotel is smelly and it's even worse in the room. Imagine coming back to your hotel room and being greeted by an old stench of musty carpet! Furthermore, I stayed on a Saturday night in the heart of Koreatown so this is not the place to stay for peace and quiet, especially on the weekends. Folks were partying until the wee hours of the night and I didn't get great sleep. Positives: Everyone from the front desk staff to the housekeeping folks were excellent, the lobby's cute, there's a burger join next door, there's a wine happy hour 6-7:30pm, and it's walkable to eateries (Egg Tuck is a block away) & Alfred's coffee shop (inside The Line). I'm going back to my tried-and-true next time I visit Koreatown: The Line hotel. read more

A lovely historical property. Beyond the gorgeous lobby, the building very obviously does show its age but never felt as though it wasn't clean enough as the property is clearly well maintained all throughout. The rooms are nice and quaint, albeit decor seems a bit sparse for a place that markets itself as a slice of the "golden age" of the 1920's. I had personally reserved a suite and found the beds comfy and the pull-out sofa bed about as good as any other. I was also very pleased to see that there was no additional fee for using the provided mini fridge that other hotels tend to do these days. Water pressure was quite good for a building of this age, mind you, this was on the third floor as well. The AC unit worked fine as well but seemed to have a very slight ringing noise to it, slept soundly regardless. The only sour aspect of my stay was the discovery that the outer shower curtain had a bit of deterioration and yellowing. All things aside, the greatest thing I feel this hotel has is service. All staff I encountered answered my questions and followed through on my requests with great efficiency and carried themselves with the etiquette of true luxury. Should you find yourself greeted by the concierge named CJ, rest well knowing you are in excellent, capable hands. read more

Cute boutique hotel in K town area . This looks like an office building converted to rooms. There is only one small elevator or you can take the staircase. Staff are friendly and helpful. Room has wood floors and a small bathroom. The bed was a little too soft for our liking, and I think ours in Room 401 sunk in the middle. Walks are paper thin, we could hear next door, but thankfully we easily fell asleep. The nearby hotel options also have thin walls so honestly I like staying here. I had an ok stay at the hotel, it would have been a 4star review, although the keycards did not work so we had to get them redone at reception every time we wanted to get back into the room, and the WiFi coverage on the 4th floor was basically non existent. I was ok with all of this though as the location was good and to be honest I'm not too fussy. The big big problem with this hotel is they charged me incorrectly for smoking in the room when I did no such thing. They were not able to offer any proof that I had violated the smoking policy, other than a photo of an unsmoked cigarette left on the side table. This does not constitute smoking in the room. I think because I am a tourist they believed they could get some extra cash off my credit card when I left the hotel. I also left a small silver piece of jewellery in the room which went missing. Who knows if this was to do with the hotel or not Regardless, they have refused to remove the smoking charge despite providing no proof. I wouldn't recommend staying here as the vibe I get from them is very opportunistic. As in they will charge you for anything they can get away with to make some extra cash. The staff were of course friendly and although we planned to stay another night at another location, we decided to stay. We appreciated how centered the hotel was from our events throughout the weekend in Koreatown neighborhood. We parked across the way from the hotel where they did have 24 hour valet service parking to accommodate. Stayed here for a night, loved it! Super cute place. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The wine tasting was an added bonus and the server was quite pleasant and knowledgeable. Parking is valet only unless you can find a place on the street (we did three blocks away). The elevator is quite slow and I'm impatient so... we took the stairs almost every time. The bed & pillows were super comfy and the bath towels, great, as were the toiletries. The free breakfast was good. We're on a plant based diet so most breakfasts are slim pickings but this one had plenty of fruit, oatmeal, cereal and almond milk. Considering my guy proposed here, we will definitely be back for future stays so we did sign up for the reward system which I'm glad they offer.. I like earning rewards for things I enjoy doing! I would certainly recommend staying here, and here are a few things to consider. First, you are in a great area. Plenty of good bars, restaurants and coffee shops in the area. Also relatively close to a lot of spots you might want to visit in LA. The room was also very comfortable with an adjustable thermostat and top notch room keeping. They have a coffee bar in the morning and wine tasting in the evening, so you'll just need to make sure you aren't counting on them for a quick breakfast like you can with other hotels. One drawback is the parking; their valet is very expensive and you are charged by the night. Beggars can't be choosers though and there is very little parking in the area. While they don't have a gym on site, there is a 24 Hour Fitness a few (some have said a couple, it's more than that) blocks away. The gym is better than most hotel gyms but pretty rundown and gross by regular gym standards so take that for what you will. Overall, the quality of the actual hotel is worth it but there are some caveats to consider. read more

I found this hotel through hotels.com after painful nights of analyzing per-friendly hotels with no ripoff pet fees and daily resort fees. Service was too notch, and being VIP Gold I got free room upgrade and parking ($22 per night). The only thing I commented at checkout was how housekeeping was unaware of higher quality towels in our suite, and our replacement was standard. The front desk took the comment seriously and I totally appreciate it. We missed the nightly wine reception which was a little sad but we didn't stay here long enough. We were enjoying LA too much, I guess. I have to comment that CJ was so accommodating and kept asking us if we need anything. It was Ritz level if you know what I'm talking about. Thank you! Our window in our king suite faced other hotel rooms in some sense... More quiet than facing the street. Love the suite! The sofa bed is more comfortable than most other sofa beds. But I had to change out the linen, because I can tell it was dirty. Housekeeping didn't check probably because precious guest folded the sofa bed back. We left ours open so they change out the linen. The hotel itself is very historic and beautiful when you enter the lobby. They have a little fountain with gold fishes that live in the little tank. The books in the shelves are old and beautiful. There's even an antique typewriter we were able to type on in the lobby. The location is so central that we were able to walk to cafes. We ordered most foods in but didn't realize how close all these restaurants were. Location is awesome, but this is Koreatown so there are sticky sidewalks outside. Haha. read more

This stay in particular reminded me why Hotel Normandie is always our "home" in LA. Of course the upgraded room to a junior suite certainly helped but it was the personalized care that really put it over the top. They stayed in constant touch via text and responded right away. The room was super cozy & clean, the bed & pillows felt like sleeping on clouds, plushiest towels ever, and we really loved the complimentary slippers. The lavender & peppermint toiletries were super soothing!. Staff courteous & professional. Best of all, located in Koreatown and near all our fave places! Cassells was a bonus as well. I got a deal on hopper! And I would say the deal was on par with the hotel, I looked at the regular prices and I was pretty shocked. It's definitely a good center point for all of LA but the rooms are pretty rubbed down. The building is old, nothing is dirty it's just not what I expected. The rooms are plain and standard, I think the downstairs lobby and bar give a much different impression than what you actually stay in. Parking is also $40 and across the street. Ive stayed at this hotel multiple times. It's very vintage old hollywood. The staff has always gone above and beyond to accommodate me. Couple of times I got an upgrade, with a little extra fee of course. Parking is difficult but you are in the heart of ktown. They do have valet but give yourself some time for parking and check in. They have a cute and outside restaurant nearby for brunch. The LINE hotel is nearby and they have openaire. This review is also for the manager Beymar. I've stayed at this hotel for couple of years now, and I have to say one of the strongest reasons I've been back again and again is because of Beymar. Always professional and polite, he really takes exceptional care of his guests. I don't think I've ever seen a manager as dedicated, as caring, and professional on such a level. I spent two nights there. I'm a big germaphobe in hotels, because I always end up finding something weird. Well can't use "always"anymore! There was one stain on the pillowcase but once I inspected it, I think the wash just didn't get this specific stains, staff took care of it instantly. Check in was super easy, took the least amount of time unlike most places. They let me know about their free happy hour (I didn't attend, or really drink, but the people that did participate seems to enjoy themselves and content over the choices). It is a little noisy but I think it's more the area than the actual Hotel, I didn't have any issues falling sleep/ staying asleep. Bed was super comfy, the decor, wallpaper was trendy. The restroom was clean, the shower head has great pressure. I loved the text message feature, you're able to contact them/ communicate without having to call. I asked for decaf. There's a a restaurant Caselle's next door great coffee/ ambiance. There was plenty of places to eat around the hotel walking distance, and even late. If you're traveling from LAX without a rental, this is one shuttle, and one bus away. I found it super easy to get to. read more

If you are lucky, you hear moaning at midnight and yes I was the lucky one :( Their 20 bucks daily services fee included access to the gym, continental breakfast, free water and complimentary wine tasty in the evening. A vintage hotel revival, by famed LA developer Jingbou Lou, in the heart of K-Town, that is truer to its 1920's roots, just in time for the hipster love affair with the past. The plush lobby has floors that appear to be original. They're replete with the scars of remodels past, when the hotel passed through the darker days of the area's urban decay, in the 1960's. Wall art, themed around the Hollywood writer, even sports a workhorse 1920's Underwood typewriter. The brand was a symbol of defiance of that Hollywood's most powerful mogul, Paramount Pictures' Adolph Zukor, who abused writers and called them "Schmucks with Underwood's. A dime a dozen." In the late afternoon, guests gather, in parts of the massive lobby, for complimentary wine. Anchoring a corner of the building is the revival of Cassell's Burgers, a landmark eatery of authenticity before authenticity was a thing. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it also sports a small, but very legit bar with very allocated American whiskeys. Their coffee bar was top grade, but is about to take an automation knock down soon, I was told. Upstairs, the hallway floors are still wood, with carpet runners. The doors are vintage. The rooms, other than the flat screen TV atop a dresser, are vintage in look. They have an entry, with a dark wood desk/refrigerator and a cozy bedroom. The bathrooms are honeycomb white tile and vintage fixtures. A block walk to the Metro subway station on Wilshire, and well positioned for Uber/Lyft rides that don't sap the wallet, I've found it pretty easy to get around a big chunk of LA. Day renting cars here is far better than getting clipped for the huge taxes imposed at the airports, LAX, or Burbank. They have a valet that's $40 per day, about in keeping with LA hotel parking prices. It's also between the major freeways and big boulevards, so getting anywhere is convenient, in LA's congested corridors. If you like authentic Korean food, or great ramen, hot wings, steak, some of Los Angeles' best restaurants are in walking distance. It's a great hotel, that's had a bit of fading from COVID. Maintenance has been lacking. Our doors didn't close well. There was a lot of wear that, for a hotel that charges what it does, shouldn't be there. The elevator is looking beaten up, and squeaks. Housekeeping staff working rooms masks down, even after repeated management warnings. That, thankfully, got rectified before we needed our room serviced. Service is by request, at this time. Cassell's keeps odd hours, opening at 10:00 on weekends, 11:00a on weekdays, killing their breakfasts. It has also gone from table service to order at the counter, another disease created by the virus, and staffing issues. A manager said that the owner was investing more in upgrading the affected rooms. I have stayed here many times. Three of my friends and I booked Hotel Normandie last minute. And by last minute, I mean we checked into our Airbnb at 3 am the night before, found ants lining the tub, and decided we couldn't stay there the rest of the weekend, last minute. It was the best deal we could find on such a short notice, and it was also one of the hotels I had been looking into before we booked the Airbnb. Here are some of the pros/cons: Pros: 1. Located right in K-Town (didn't seem like it was the sketchy part), so there are lots of restaurants nearby. THere's a burger place right in the hotel. I didn't get to try it but it had pretty good reviews 2. When we arrived in the room, there was one bottle of water. Housekeeping must have noticed that four people were staying there because the next day, there were four bottles 3. They let us check in early at around 10 am 4. The sink in the room is located outside of the bathroom, which was convenient and efficient for four girls staying in one room 5. Breakfast is included. It's your basic bagels, toast, muffins, cereal, fruit yogurt, but they also have Clif bars! No hot breakfast but it was decent and there were quite a few options Cons: 1. Hotel Normandie is a boutique hotel that has been around the Wilshire District since the late '20s. There are standard guest rooms, and junior and king suites, all that has been carefully restored. Please also note that this is a dog-friendly hotel as well!
