Classy atmosphere and vibe! They also have a bowling alley. Food prices are on the high end ($12 for brussel spouts) but it matches the upscale atmosphere of the hotel. We were finally given a $50.00 food/beverage credit which seemed insignificant when you have nowhere to land, unpack and relax with an event that evening to get ready for. Most of the staff was nice, some were minimally helpful. No elevator for the Cabana Suite bldg, I've got an 86 year old husband. Take the stairs... Our Cabana Suite upstairs was way different than our friend's suite downstairs, We had a round table in our living room area with bench seating??? No couch to relax on, that is not luxurious! The whole unit was very dark, lighting is atrocious, non existent. The whole bathroom wall running the length into tge bedroom is glass! How strange and inconvenient is that? The bathroom towels were just about thread bare and small. The downstairs cabana suites had a nice patio with seating and a private lounge bed outdoors. There was also a nice seating area inside with a couch, the way it should be. Our upstairs Cabana Suite had a long narrow balcony with two wire chairs and a little round coffee table, but no coffee! No coffee maker provided in the room, I had to go down to the lobby to get a hot beverage. If you can't have caffeine, don't bother, there's no decaf available. This is my third time here, trying out various rooms, but most likely won't be back. I would not consider this a luxury hotel. It felt like they were cutting corners wherever they could. The only restaurant open for breakfast is outside by the pool with plastic to go packages of eating utensils. Luxury? Nope. The servers were nice, but service was painfully slow. On a hot day you'll have to wait for a shady spot or leave the property. Dismal....

Right then I knew I picked the right hotel to stay during the TCM film festival. Alex graciously upgraded me to a spacious studio with the glorious 18th floor view of the Hollywood sign. Loved the extra amenities like coffee/tea, clean, nice smelling robes, single packet makeup removers that we ladies certainly appreciate. Clean, comfortable furniture, especially the oh so cozy king-size bed. Treated myself to a delicious hot breakfast to kick off my stay. Hostesses and wait staff at the on-site restaurant, Preston's, was fantastic. Mentioned I was a little behind schedule so my waitress (sorry I forgot her name) executed my order like within two minutes! I asked her how she pulled that off, and she said she stood by the cook to make sure lol Food was plentiful so I took leftovers to go, which was perfect to nosh on between movies. The fest is a fabulous movie marathon in classic film Heaven so there's not much downtime except to sleep at the hotel, which is a shame since the room and the hotel are definitely A+. Big bonus is from the mezzanine level you walk directly to the TCL theaters under canopies, and through the wonderful array of stores, eateries, lounge areas etc. You bet I will be staying here again next year.

Ended up in a shared room with a family with baby twins and toddler SCREAMING at 6 am after small cry breaks all night. I asked if they are checking out, as I'm staying a couple more days. They assured me yes and sure enough same thing next AM. The staff has an inauthenticity that's hard to even explain. There's an older lady with dark hair and an irritated demeanor was so rude it was unbelievable. Bottom line, this is a Holiday Inn with lipstick on. If you have a young family, this is your place. If you are an adult looking for some peace and some class, go to the Roosevelt. The furniture in the rooms and bathrooms is quite dated.

The front desk has two or three employees depending on the time. Everyone was friendly; Barry, Carlos, Niki, Zena, Tosh, Taylor, Miguel and Oscar. I reserved a room online at: https://walkoffamehostel.com/ I reserved a private room and it's not ready until 3 pm. I wish I would have known that before showing up. There is a luggage room with surveillance and I left my bag. I have an expensive Apple PowerBook and they held this behind the front desk. I left and returned at 5 pm to find all of my things cared for during my absence. First observation is aside from the ratty steps at the entrance this place is incredibly clean. The floors, the bathrooms, the ledges, the lounge area, kitchen; there is no dust and the scent of clean is everywhere. I love the hot and cold filtered water machines located all around the public areas. I literally walk ten feet from my room for this. My private room number 3 has a queen bed, refrigerator, tv, cable box and two remotes. I could not get the cable to work but Carlos at the front desk came in and fixed it. He also explained the remotes. The queen size bed is comfortable; I would prefer if it were higher off the floor. I blame my mother for spoiling me. Huge closet area. It's bigger than my master bedroom closet. I have a European air conditioner that I don't need tonight because my big window has a good evening breeze and there is a ceiling fan above the bed. The tv sound and quality is excellent. WiFi power is excellent; this is very important to me. This WiFi is stronger than my stays at Hilton, Sheraton, Marriott and Holiday Inn Suites. The room has some art and good lighting but there are two wall red lamps and I can't find the light switch for them. Miguel came to my room and showed me how to use. The windows facing south of Sunset have lots of noise from the parking employee conversation and laughter. It just echos in the room. I finally closed the double pane windows and there was no longer any noise. To turn the ac I had to go retrieve a remote from the front desk and return it. These ac units are completely silent and work very well. The temperature and lack of noise in my room was excellent. All I could hear was moving air. A friend came over to deliver food and passed by the front desk. They came to knock on the door and asked for his ID; I love that because it's a younger clientele and it feels right. I'm very impressed. Love the location. Lots of charm. There are $40/beds in shared rooms if I wanted to save bucks. The rate with tax for my private room is $131.00. Everyone receives a free continental breakfast. Jimmy Kimmel live is right next door. If you want the LA experience, stay here. History, action, community and all of it in a safe clean and friendly environment. Location location location.

We had Jacky and she was...terrible. She essentially told us no stories whatsoever. She'd forget details of every story, flat out said she had a script she was ignoring and "winging it" but then proceeded to not remember or say anything of interest. Most stories climax was "and well...you know...anyway." I can't tell you a single thing about any location. She said there were pictures of ghosts but she "couldn't find them". Another member of the group said they paid extra for EVPs that she "forgot" to bring. Absolutely no one in the tour enjoyed the experience and a few of us started telling our own stories just so we didn't feel like we'd completely wasted our time. My group took a couple other people from the tour with us at the end to the Roosevelt, since it was listed as a stop we never went to, and told them stories ourselves and saved the night post tour. Jacky is a lovely girl but the worst tour guide I've ever experienced. It wasn't expensive but I'm angry I spent even $1 on this. I wish we had the experience everyone else seems to have gotten.
