We had to fill out a credit check form for the rental program. They presented us with both a used and new violin option with reasonable pricing for renting and insurance. Their program is great where we can rent-to-own if we decide later to purchase it. All the rental payments are put towards the purchase which is awesome. They also allow you to switch it out if our child outgrows the size. It was a super easy process to pick up a rental instrument and seems like the store has quite the variety of supplies for both wind and string instruments.

After pulling out the saxophone 30 years, unused, the cork was decaying, crumbling, and dry . We called around a few places, and these guys were fast efficient and a good price. Around $30. I went in with my wife to pick it up, told the guy I was doing some classical guitar and I got an on the spot private tutor lesson lol. It was pretty awesome. All of the suggestions The guy had for me as a new guitar player were perfect. He recommended me a good book to start with. How to properly hold a guitar, etc.. I know things are cheaper on the Internet, and the two things that he recommended to me were definitely cheaper, however, you can't get this type of service from Amazon .

This past weekend I was going to breakfast down the way, and had some time to kill with the wait so wondered on down. This is a GREAT local music shop with small venue in the back. So many instruments and a very cozy/warm atmosphere. The converted house is the perfect building for this type of business. The owner (or one of them?) was quick to greet us and show us around the place. I tried out a couple of vintage instruments when I was there and he was very knowledgeable and informative about what I was playing. Looking forward to coming back for a live performance at sometime. They seem to have routine jam sessions as well as touring musicians stopping by the place.

We rang the doorbell and were greeted by one of the owners, Don, and his dog LadyBug. Don informed us that if we were looking for records, we were in the wrong place but told us to come check out what they DID have. Mountain Music Parlor is a cute little shop filled with all sorts of instruments. So many that you'll have to go see for yourself including endless ukuleles, cricket violins, guitars, and more. The most amazing thing about Don was that no matter what obscure musical instrument or accessory we asked about, Don had it! From cajons to violin mutes. He also showed us the performance room where they have different jam sessions including Celtic nights, Old Time, Cowboy, Aloha Ukulele, Open Mic, and Bluegrass. They also have music lessons available for various instruments. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon Mountain Music Parlor and will definitely be getting all of my musical knick knacks from them for the foreseeable future. Always excited when I can support great local businesses like this!

She has been a part of several amazing bands through Jampro, playing both at their awesome on-site stage and at festivals and businesses here in town. The improvement in her musical talents has been a beautiful and impressive journey that continues to leave me in awe. All of the teachers have been excellent and top caliber musicians themselves. Jampro often served as a safe space for my daughter during some difficult times through the years. They treated her like family and I will forever be grateful. The facility is top notch and every thing you'd expect from a high end studio and more. They even have courses to learn audio production and DJ. I invite anyone to take a tour as you will be wowed by all they offer. The programs are not cheap, but I've found them to be worth every penny and a truly worthy investment in my daughter.

I met Benz in 2008 at a guitar festival and played an instrument he made at that time. I asked him…read moreto build one for me because I was interested in some new features including a double-top, elevated fingerboard and a sound port. I expected the guitar he built to feel basically the same as my others, but to sound louder because of the double-top. And louder it is!! But it is so much more than that! There is richness and purity in the tone that I have not experienced before. It projects very well with clarity in both the treble and bass. And it hasn't even 'opened up' yet! When it does, it will be even more amazing. In addition to the excellent tonal qualities, it is also easier and more comfortable to play. I requested a Hauser body style because they are a little smaller. Benz had the idea to try a wedge design that would make the guitar smaller on the lower bout where my arm crosses over it, but wider in other areas allowing for more projection. In addition, I requested an arm rest and a custom made rosette. These two features of the guitar are particularly eye-catching and evidence of the high level of craftsmanship of this instrument. In short, I just have to say that I love this guitar! - Andrea Cannon www.AndreaCannon.com

I first played a Benz Tschannen at GSP in San Francisco and was blown away by the volume. Benz has shifted to making double-tops exclusively now, incorporating new design features such as adjustable truss rods, soundports, and elevated fingerboards. And they are loud! Still, very well balanced. He's been a joy to work with, very accomodating on my choice of woods and designs, and I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of my custom guitar. I'll update when I receive it but based on the other Benz Tschannen concert guitars I've played, I'll be keeping his review at 5 stars. For $6,200, it's a great deal when you consider other top quality double-tops from luthiers like Redgate and Dammann go for $10-$15k. Don't expect his guitars to stay this cheap for long.... ******************************** UPDATE: I received my guitar in late 2010 after a ~9month build time. Kudos to Benz for taking the time to drive out to San Francisco and hand-deliver my new guitar, and spending time with me setting it up and fine tuning to my playing. You can feel the passion for his craft just radiating from this guy! I'm obsessed! I've been playing it for 2 years now and it's starting to open up a little more. Regardless, it was fantastic on day 1. Benz has crafted a stunning instrument with amazing volume and tone. The range of timbre I can achieve with this guitar is fantastic, from muted to sharp in a just a minimal RH shift. The volume is incredible. Lots more I could say about his work, but I'll leave it at that. As promised, I'm leaving his review at 5 stars for both the incredible artistry and workmanship he delivered, and for the attention to details and service he provided in making sure my new guitar was truly 'MY' guitar. Awesome!
