The bar

The Lobby Lounge, as it is so ingeniously called, is the main bar in the Ritz. Cocktails are overpriced and somewhat gimmicky. However, there are a couple decent specials listed in the menu. One has to do with discounted Medella Light during a certain hour (final cost is still overpriced, if you ask me). The other is buy one get one Bacardi cocktails from 5-6pm. We took advantage of this one evening and the pours were heavy and seemed to get heavier as we powered through the hour. The Lobby Lounge isn't bad for a nightcap but it's not a destination.

Yummy snacks

We enjoyed the the Lobby Lounge. Didn't matter what time of the evening we showed up, we were always able to get a great table. Service was friendly and we always had more than one server spot by our table to offer service. Favorite dishes included pulled pork flat bread and empandas. We loved the free snack tray, which included olives, nut snacks and plantain chips. A big miss was the wings. Reminded us of wings pulled from the freezer. Another plus, they had live music on Valentine's Day and passed out roses to the ladies.

This is a casual food option for guests staying here. Good option to sit, relax, grab a drink before or after your last destination. Not recommended for people not staying at the ritz. There are nicer dinning options available inside this hotel. This place is literally located in the lobby by the entrance, bar style seats. You could also dine outside and ask the waiter to assist you, which I prefer, for a bit more privacy and less noise. Food is not bad, just not memorable.

Beautiful lobby lounge with stunning view and remodeled ceiling light sculpture. Comfortable seating around small tables set for 2, 4 or 8 folks, a regular bar/stools setup and a small sushi area. Sushi was first rate - two sushi chefs do a great job with variety of fresh fish and many fun rolls to chose from with your sushi/sashmi order. Signature cocktails are quite fun. We stayed here before a cruise and when we left the hotel the main bellman invited us back (gave us Ritz luggage tags) since we had a few hours to kill between when the cruise ship arrived and our plane left. It was great to come back here for another sushi / cocktail combo.

Since I last went to The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan two years ago, they have renovated some places around the resort and this lobby lounge being one of them. I am so happy they did! Before at night time if I didn't want a fancy meal they only offered the beach side food which I already had for lunch. It's nice now to have another option of food as well as the relaxed environment. We went for small snacks a few days and choose from the sushi and tapas. My favorite dish was the mini tacos! FYI if you know me well, you know I love my Grey Goose and grapefruit juice for my choice of drink. I loved that they put a fresh wedge of grapefruit in to top it off. My favorite little touch.

Churrasco marinated in papaya.

I had the churrasco for dinner at the Lobby Lounge. The steak was marinated in papaya and came with a side of rice and beans. The steak tasted great, but the rice and beans were just above average. The service as expected is great. Ritz-Carlton trains their staff very well. Our waitress took our order soon after we sat down. Our food arrived at a reasonable time frame. The Lobby Lounge over looks the swimming pool.

Kumo has a sexy inside but who's sitting inside while in PR and they have a cool outdoor rooftop.. Ahhh, not us!! It was pretty full but we were able to be seated immediately at a hightop table, even though we were 45min early. The food was awesome. We had the Branzino, beef skewers, BBQ salmon skewers, and the giant prawn skewers. I have to agree, she said, they can leave the damn sticks, just cook the food..lol The skewer sticks were a pain in the azz to pull out.. Jus sayin! Our server was about business and not overly friendly I'd say. There weren't many servers so she didn't have time for any unnecessary chatter.. Lol There were a few items missed that I'd normally see at Asian Fusion restaurants. For instance, Rock Shrimp and some form of sushi, should definitely be added to the menu. All and all, it was an outstanding experience and I'd definitely come back because the views can't be beat and the food is pretty damn good!
