Tantanmen Ramen bowl.
Brian W.

The entrance to Kaiju is very discrete. You enter through side alley door with a small neon sign. You know you're in the spot when you see a Godzilla movie playing on the tv over the stairs. The space is very dark with red neon. Seating is a combination of tables and vintage living room furniture. Kailua has a curated drink list that is a must try. Their special bourbon drink is amazing and is smoked, which creates a cool effect in the dark neon lit space. The frozen Buddha is another must try if your preference is a sweeter rum based drink. Lastly, the food. We started with the bao buns that were soft pillows filled with crispy pork belly. We moved on to the Ramen and each was amazing. If your into spice try the tantanmen but of the three we tried there wasn't a noodle left in the bowls.

Seating and bar

Great Bau buns, wontons, dumplings, extremely good air conditioning. Dark lit with lots of neon, sofa and sushi bar style seating areas, be careful on the way down the stairs! Good service, and a really good meal. We will return when we come back to PR. Countertop was kind of sticky but this was a minor issue and the only one to be honest. Recommend a try, as well as the Pad Tai and the Lo mien.

Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of the food here. The Bao Buns and Lo Mein was amazing! I had to have the bao buns 3x over my 5 day trip to PR. It was perfect and a great light snack before a concert or night out. I highly recommend. This is a late night spot and they do delivery as well! Highly recommend I can't wait to go back!

The food was amazing. It was just way too cold to enjoy it. The air condition was on 60 degrees. I had to take a shot to get warm. lol. We had ramen, dumplings, bao and sushi rolls Again food was amazing. Take a coat !

The food was really delicious and fresh, service was great and accommodating and it was a really cool unique place with neon lighting, decoration and bgm. Only critic is drinks didn't feel the alcohol as much. But were very tasty mixology.

The bar continues with the atmosphere and you see how the drinks are prepared.

As soon as we entered, we were able to observe the magical and mysterious atmosphere. The waiter greeted us with the warmest welcome, offering us two shots of a Japanese liquor to start. I ordered some noodles With a peanut butter sauce, they were absolutely delicious. Most of these dishes can be shared with two people since they're quite large. I will definitely be coming back

Cool bar- it's kind of a speakeasy hole in the wall and a bit hard to find the door. Inside is pretty dark and neon but overall pretty good decor. Drinks were great! Got a Tokyo mule and a Japanese old fashioned. There's also an option to make the Tokyo mule a mocktail, which my sober friends enjoyed. Food was phenomenal. We were an all vegetarian group and there were plenty of options. We got vegan sushi, dumplings, and ramen. Service- minus 1 star just because it took a hot minute. Took over 45 min for our ramen to come out and it wasn't super packed. But the food was good and I wasn't in a rush for plans after so I wasn't terribly mad.

Who loves ramen?!? This girl right here! My finance found this place for us and it was probably one of the best places we ate in Puerto Rico. The door is a little unsuspecting when you're walking up to it. It's covered in graffiti and blends in with the outer exterior. If you didn't know it was there, you'd could totally walk right by and not notice. When you go inside it's dark! Like dark dark! Give your eyes some time to adjust from the bright Puerto Rican sun if you're coming during the day time because it's all black lights. At the bottom of the stairs, there is a small step up into the actual restaurant. I tripped going in and coming out could be user error, but I'm not taking credit for that. Inside is really chill! Lots of comfortable seating. There are also formal tables. We sat at a formal table, but if you like a more "at home comfy" feel, take a seat on a couch. Staff is so nice! They are talkative and attentive. We ordered pork boa buns and the tonkotsu ramen. Both were perfect! They do have vegan options! So cheers to that. Price was decent especially for the area. I would come back a million times

La comida riquísima y sushi bien fresco. ambiente bien agradable y cool. Buen servicio también !

Shoyu Ramen, motharita drink

10/10 volveria!

Halloween roll.... Not on the menu... recommend by our server!!! Exquisite!

Unexpectedly great! Great service and even better food! The ambiance is modern and appropriately decorated. A great experience! Recommended.

Inside: very small and intimate

We are in town for a short getaway and we're recommended to stop by and eat here by friends. Upon entering, you see glow in the dark paintings and a tv screen playing Godzilla. It was unexpected and a cool entry! Inside we were greeted by the bartender who also happened to be our server. He was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Best service we've received since being in PR. We started with the pulled pork bao buns and they were so soft and yummy! I recommend these as a starter, two come in an order. We then ordered a Pad Thai and the Godzilla roll. The server recommended this roll to me since I didn't know which one to get! This one is off the menu and it was different and freshly made. I love the wontons on top of the roll such a cute garnish. Overall, we had a great experience and we absolutely recommend people to come here! I do recommend to make reservations! We got lucky and came on a slow Monday night. So beware that is it a small place and only a couple of tables.

Very cool bar esthetic. Our server was great and the vegan tantanmen was delicious. Our only issue was undercooked rice in the eel roll.

The bartender was spectacular! Kept good conversation going with all of us at the bar, but not too much that you can't enjoy your time. (I was solo dining for context). For the food, a lot of it was very yummy, but I do think I was missing something with each dish. Whether it was salt, more umami, or just spice. The methods of everything being made was executed well, it just could have been better in overall flavor which is why I gave it 3 stars. On top of the bartender having a great personality & service, the cocktails were equally delicious. Now the flavor is absolutely in the bar so although I may not come back for all of the food, I would willingly try more dishes and eagerly order a drink!

The place is small but cute inside. The staff is very attentive and friendly. If you like sake, we had a very unique and delicious sake bottle called the Moonstone. Is unfiltered sake with a coconut lemongrass flavor. We tasted the sake flight and that one was the winner flavor. As appetizer we had the pan fried mixed dumplings, veggie and pork. Both good. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen which was decent but not as tasty as I would like it to be. The broth wasn't rich enough. The meat and noodles were great. The amount was plentiful. It fulfilled its purpose. We finished our meal in a sweet note with two scoops of ice cream, sesame and caramel flavors. They were creamy, really good.

My parents had eaten here before and said it was really good, so we were excited to see if it lived up to the hype. The restaurant had a lively, bustling atmosphere, with a steady stream of customers dining in and picking up takeout orders. Even though it was busy, the staff kept things moving efficiently. Even for a large order, the wait was only about 30 minutes. They have a separate pickup area for to-go orders, which made the process organized and easy despite how busy they were. We ordered the beef fried rice, house fried rice, churrasco steak, house lo mein, sesame beef, jumbo shrimp, chicken wings, fried pork, pork ramen, and three sushi rolls. The kids in our family chose the Philly Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, and Red Dragon Roll, and they really enjoyed them. I had originally planned to order a different sushi roll from the menu, but it wasn't available that day. It wasn't a big deal, though, because the rolls we did get were fresh and delicious. Everything was flavorful and well prepared. The churrasco steak was my personal favorite--the meat was incredibly tender and already well seasoned on its own. My husband wasn't a fan of the accompanying sauce, but he agreed the steak itself was excellent. We also really enjoyed the fried rice, and the portions were generous. They were also generous with the condiments and included a variety of sauces with our order, which we appreciated. The only thing we missed was chili oil, since it's a condiment we usually expect to have available at Chinese restaurants. If you're staying nearby or looking for a restaurant that offers both Chinese and Japanese cuisine, Tayzan is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared for a crowd--it seems to be popular for a reason!

The base was delicious, I wish they had accomplished the spicyness through a vehicle/mechanism other than red pepper flakes. That said it delivered on flavor. It included thinlysliced fish cakes, corn, chopped green onions and an egg. The soup was temperature hot, the noodles were wonderfully chewy. The menu options were plentiful, including sushi. At the Noodle Merchant, I tried their chicken wings and dumplings. The wings were fried nicely but I didn't like the filling inside of the dumplings. It tasted too mushy for my liking. At Himalaya's, I had their seafood hot pot. All of the seafood was not fresh, but that may be because of the hurricane. I didn't like how the hot pot was just full of sauce. If it were some kind of broth (like it's supposed to be) I would have enjoyed it more. But the "hot pot" ($22) was more like a giant stir fry swimming in soy sauce mixture. I did like the presentation though and the rice was nice. I'm glad there's an Asian stall but seeing them boil ramen packages like I do at home and then charge $15 is not what I call good eats. Again, not sure what's normal and what's changed due to the hurricane. I would like to come back and give it another shot.
