We made reservations at least 2 wks in advance of the day for 5:15pm as we also had tickets for a play in town at 7:30pm. Plenty of time you would think for dinner and dessert. After our guest of honour arrived at 5:10pm, we saw other guests trickle in, so I urged everyone to make their selections quickly and we ordered. We had explained to our server beforehand, on our arrival, that we had tickets for a play at 7:30pm. We were confident that placing our orders by 5:30 would give us plenty of time. We were mistaken. We kept looking around the room as almost every table that ordered after us were being served their food. My sister mentioned to the server that we had a play to get to and were becoming concerned as it was getting late. She offered no apology other than to say that they weren't expecting this many tables, so they weren't prepared booking staff in. By the time our food arrived it was just before 7pm. The food was good but we knew we weren't going to have time for dessert and we all wanted dessert but their want even time to ask. The bill was not brought to the table, as we didn't have time to wait I went up to the counter actually apologized for rushing her but explained that we were risking being late for the play. There was no offer of a comp for anything for making us wait so long when we had reservations (and apparently were their only reservation that night, all other tables being walk ins). I paid the bill at 7:02pm according to my receipt. My instinct was to leave a very small or no tip at all but as the food was good I instead left one of 15%, which is less than what I would leave for excellent food and service. The service certainly did not deserve a $25.00 tip even if she is sharing with the kitchen.

If you're looking for a great new place for date night, Olives would make a fine choice. Now,…read more Olives has been there for as long as I can remember so it's not technically new. However, the recent subtle renovations and the addition of Chef Ben definitely transformed this restaurant from an Octogenarian hot spot for lunch to a contender for top New spot among Sarnia's casual fine dining establishments. If you're looking for a nice quiet and intimate spot for a wonderful dinner with great friendly service, I urge you to give Olives a try again for the first time.

Very time-consuming and very expensive, but it was heaven from start to finish. No alcohol is served, but you are allowed to bring wine, which can then be served at the table Do not miss it !

There were 4 courses during the Royal Tea luncheon. I selected the Blackberry Bellini tea offering. Each participant received their own unique teapot and tea leaves. We started with soup, topped with beet sprouts. Next, we were given 6 different tea sandwiches. Some were sweet, others savory, and fresh! The Chicken Paprika with side salad was delicious. Everything was seasoned well. Finally, there were two desserts. One scone and a mini bundt chocolate dessert that was to LIVE for. Service was wonderful, thanks Bianca! There was one server, so patience was a must. Don't miss this experience!

The restaurant vibes were really nice. We were seated at a booth next to the window where you can see into the back kitchen. Our server was super nice and brought out bread for us. We ordered a spicy margarita and the lychee guava martini. The margarita was way too spicy for me but my friend tolerated it. I loved the martini!! It was so good I actually ended up having 3 of them. We originally planned on entrees but ended up just ordering all kinds of apps and got full off of those. It was really satisfying and we had fun trying all the different things they had. I don't think there was anything we didn't like. We got oysters, beef carpaccio, whipped ricotta, and beef tips. Towards the end of our meal the DJ started setting up and the restaurant was rearranging the furniture to make room. We were told our booth was sold but were welcome to continue in another booth until anything changes. The atmosphere transitioned really smoothly and we enjoyed ourselves. It was fun mingling and dancing and ended up staying until close. I would definitely come here again!

I ordered the steak frites and I imagine that the steak would have been great if prepared to medium or medium well. However it was medium well to well done. I was here for a work dinner so I wasn't going to make a scene in front of a business partner. But it was disappointing. I'm sure the staff would have been responsive if I complained that my medium order was grey in the middle. The presentation was great but you'll see in the second picture it was overcooked

Mya was our server and she went above and beyond. One of our kids ordered french toast, and somehow we missed that it was topped with a fruit compote. When Mya stopped by the table she immediately saw that my daughter was not happy and asked if she should put a new order in. We declined because we wanted our daughter to try it before she made up her mind, and learn from the experience. Mya came back again and could tell that there was no way this kid was going to eat the french toast. She insisted on putting another order in, saying "I just want her to be happy", and it was clear that she truly meant it. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast - we will be back frequently!

I was a little disappointed initially to be seated at the short bar as it makes me feel like I'm in elementary school due to the height, but this was a busy Saturday morning so I understood as it seems there are limited 2-tops, etc and this visit was at peak hours. It was nice to see the daylight coming through the windows which also made this a relaxing venue. While I was sitting there I was able to observe a lot as the short bar is next to the case displaying many delicious treats. I really laughed to myself as I noticed a couple of future Yelper's (one was 2-year toddler and his probably 4-5 year old sister (possibly celebrating a birthday) make a prompt trip to checkout the dessert offerings first! They were obviously "regulars". I was greeted by one of the wait staff, Mya, who was friendly, served me a coffee and indicated my server would be with me soon. I appreciated seeing the teamwork among the staff. I was eventually served by Owen who was helpful and I ordered an egg white frittata which came with a side of mixed fresh fruit. While I was waiting on my food, I had a vantage point where I could see several entrees come out. I also witnessed one of the two Chefs smiling as he was looking at and preparing the orders which I found interesting. The frittata included spinach, tomatoes, goat cheese, apple chicken sausage, and was delicious. I was still a little hungry, so I realized the future Yelpers mentioned earlier had it right, and I ordered a carrot cake cupcake which Owen mentioned was a good choice. The frosting was delicious and the moist carrot cake was tasty as well. The overall restaurant was hustling and bustling on this morning, I had my coffee cup refilled multiple times and even noticed additional children observing the case with the desserts. I enjoyed the overall experience and did not feel rushed at all, but more like a customer!
