There will never be enough words to write for the gratitude my family has for this staff of incredible people. My grand mother was here for the better part of 4 years, and in that time each individual person from the front desk, kitchen , service staff, house keeping, hair dresser and nurses became her extended family. The Personal care was so unique to each person living there. The sound vista family learns everything about the resident and works every minuet to making their life as happy and for filled as possible. They have activities weekly, workouts, games, movie nights, you name it they do it. Wonderful day trips and so much more! This is Not the stigma of assisted living. This is a safe, clean, beautiful, comfortable, warm and caring home. **Most importantly is the staff. The people who work there are so kind, friendly and accommodating. **The nursing staff literally are ANGELS. How one place got such a talented, warm hearted, compassionate group of nurses is beyond belief. My grandmother was loved, cherished, RESPECTED, and cared for until the day she passed. The staff has always treated our family like one of their own and welcomed us with open arms. My grandma lived 4 extra beautiful years ( until 98 years old) because of this incredible staff of people. Thank you Sound Vista Village and everyone of you who were so important and special to my Grandma and our family's lives. We will be eternally grateful. My grandmother the last time I saw her was very thirsty and hungry- the one staff member in the building she was in was busy with other residents. My grandmother has one sippy cup of water placed out of her reach, when she was unable to sit up and reach it. The only food she had available was a few bags of empty chocolate kisses. I was shocked. Why was my grandmother so incredibly thirsty that she was literally gulping down water? And hungry? For a place that costs over 11k per month, this is unacceptable. The individual employees are nice but sadly, overworked and understaffed. My grandmother was put on hospice a few days later for her "refusal to eat". She was also heavily medicated because attending to her was becoming difficult, at least according to that staff member I talked to. This is all unacceptable and my sweet grandmother deserved better.

One perk is probably the only perk. That's a free meal with your shift, but the food is awful. It's the same thing every week, no variety. Icky icky place. Head for the hills!

My friend was in memory care there. The care was not great as the place is chronically…read moreunderstaffed. The bills do come on time. I was my friend's POA and she was charged $8500 before move-in. This was to get $750 off her bill every-month. The problem is that my friend had a brain bleed and was only there not quite 4 months. The facility kept the entire amount and further charged a 30 day notice, so an additional $4800 was charged. This place will nickel and dime seniors to death. Also and more importantly, when my friend suffered her brain bleed the LPN (no RN's there) failed to realize how traumatic an injury she had suffered despite she had symptoms which she hadn't had before..confusion, incontinence, and a severe headache. They let her lay for HOURS and never called me. Luckily I happened to come in at 1pm to see how she was and the LPN then informed me that they would be "watching" her now. As a former RN BSN this is completely unacceptable. My friend ended up in the ER and then ICU. Not one person was at her bedside when I came. The facility just let her lay there in her bed. WORST CARE EVER!!

I also made the move because I had zero confidence in the current administrator and his ability to keep the needs of my loved one. In the short time he has been in place, I have seen morale go down, resident families complain and complaints filed. In my opinion this person is misplaced and not qualified for this position. I voiced my concerns to the ownership group, it's up to them how to address them. In my dealings with the administrator, I found him to be rude, arrogant and condescending. He does not interact with family members, rarely interacts with resident and his follow up is horrendous. He will give you all the right buzz words and corporate talking point, but does nothing to back them up. I would not recommend, at this time, placing a loved one in this facility.

Because of its size and the small staff-to-resident ratio, Hearthside Manor provides an intimate, homelike setting with generous amounts of individual attention from the caregivers and communication based on a resident's current needs. When my mother moved in, the staff and caregivers worked together to understand what would make her comfortable in her new surroundings, physically, emotionally, and socially, and input from the family in this process was sought out and valued. When she returned to Hearthside from a recent hospital stay, everyone had to work through that process once again--but they did, and she has settled back in to a little different routine. There's no one-size-fits-all agenda at Hearthside--each person is treated with individual consideration and respect. While there is a routine in place which creates order and calm, there is also flexibility for individual needs and tastes. For example, those with dementia often don't have typical sleeping patterns, and while this can disrupt the average household, it is graciously accommodated in this setting. One of the caregivers often will simply sit on the couch with a wakeful resident after everyone else is in bed and share a cup of hot chocolate and stories until sleep comes. The confusion and emotions that surface from time to time are always met with reassurance and kindness. Family and friends are encouraged to stop in at any time and are made to feel at home with their loved one and the "family" that is made up of all the residents and staff. There's always a story to tell--what's been going on and how the family member has been doing since you were there last--and there's lots of laughter! It's so heartwarming to watch the genuinely gentle care from the staff as well as interactions that occur between the residents from time to time. I never walk out the front door without a smile on my face and a grateful heart for the people who make this a wonderful home for my mom! Hearthside is always clean, the food is good and nourishing and creatively prepared, the grounds and building are well cared for, the facility is safe and secure, the staff are happy and get along well with one another and the residents--it's a wonderful place!
