I had a frustrating experience at The Loft Salon and ended up leaving without getting the service I booked. I arrived early for my appointment and was able to get my hair washed after a reasonable delay, 10 minutes or so. I was then directed to my stylist's station and sat there until there was only 15 minutes left in my appointment. At that point I asked another stylist to help remove the towel in my hair as I wasn't comfortable having someone rush to cut and dry my hair in 15 minutes. If their appointments typically last over an hour I could have made that work, but their scheduling tool was clear that it would last 2-3. I used to get my hair done in NJ by my cousin. When I moved to MD, I used to drive back and forth to NJ for my hair appt. After a while, it got harder to do so. I found The Loft and absolutely love it. Casey did my hair recently for the first time and it was perfect! I will definitely keep going back to her! This place was unprofessional and the workers are inexperienced - the Owner is horrible and talked bad about the hair of a little biracial girl. If you are a black woman, this is definitely not the place for you. They will ruin your hair and have the Owner look down on you and laugh - such as my case. THIS PLACE SUCKS! read more

Krystie did a Phenomenal job on my hair. She is also very warm and friendly and easy to talk too. She understood what I wanted and I allowed her to take some liberties that I am happy with. I don't go to the salon that often because of the cost (I have 3 kids in college and saving for my last to go) and I can normally do a decent job cutting my own hair and coloring the gray roots a few times between visits to save money. I have to say, even though a little pricey, it was well worth the money. She got rid of all my grays, lifted my color, gave me a lot of fresh highlights to frame my face, and did a perfect long swoop bang that I can't seem to get right myself. Even after washing it and styling again myself at home, it feels healthy and looks great! I will be back! read more

The Loft Salon in "downtown" LaPlata is hands down the BEST salon in town! Conveniently located on Charles Street with plenty of parking around back. I'm new to the area and a good friend of mine living here have recommended this place. I've made an appointment with Kristi four weeks in advance. I live in Virginia so left my house hour and a half in advance. Half way there traffic got busier so I called the place to let them know I'll be no more than 15 mins late for my appointment. They told me since I'm a new customer and they don't know how much time my haircut would take, they'll have to cancel my appointment. One star because it didn't workout for me :( read more

Very clean, friendly, and classy place. I actually had my hair done by Jenny- who I know through a friend- but I only knew her as a friends wife not a stylist. I saw some of her work on FB and decided she looked like she knew what she was doing- not just with a few clients but every client I saw. I'm glad i followed my instincts- Jenny's the stylist we've all been looking for!! She listens to what you want, and GIVES IT TO YOU! It's like another realm. lol She has a very kind and laid back demeanor which makes the experience all the better. She is not only good at what she does but very knowledgeable as well so ask any questions you have. The salon as a whole was a great experience, my shampoo nearly put me to sleep it was so relaxing. Love this place! I booked my wedding and ALWAYS get my hair cut and colored here. They are flexible and can fill me in on short notices. Doni & her staff does so much for their community too. I asked for some layers that would blend, the stylist ended up razoring my hair dry, now my previously super healthy hair looks frizzy and damaged. She also ended up taking way more off then I asked for. Very disappointed. Will never return. read more

This salon is WONDERFUL. I just moved down from Baltimore and couldn't find someone I trust to cut my hair. Now I've found two!! Jenny and Krystie were SO awesome. I wanted a haircut that was a little on the different side, they not only looked up the cut on their own, but worked together to help me get exactly what I wanted. They were friendly, honest, and sincere. This salon could easily be in downtown DC. I will be getting my hair done here from now on (and recommending my friends). Also, the salon is beautiful. I went to the loft for my first time this morning. Heather S. did a full color and cut. I loved this place so much! First off the decor is adorable!! All the ladies were sweet and made me feel welcome. I have Always felt out of place when I go into hair salons. My stylist will always be kind to me but the other girls tend to give me the cold shoulder. At the loft I didn't feel this way at all! Friendly employees and good vibes all around.
