My biggest complaint (which would have been a deal breaker for me) is the fact that the windows do not open. I've lived in mill buildings before and the windows always opened. After I brought it to their attention, their response to me, after I signed the lease was "well, you already saw a unit exactly like it so you should have known." In the future, they need to say that the windows DO NOT OPEN and don't assume people are aware. It's an assumption that windows typically open. Other windows in apartments in nearby mill buildings do open. I'm stuck in my lease until July, but I plan on closing on a townhouse soon. My son comes home from college in early May and will be unable to tolerate living here due to the window situation/lack of ventilation. He can usually tolerate cats (and I have one), but he cannot in such a small apartment without opening the windows. I will move him into the townhouse until my lease ends in July. Also, it's frustrating that I can't clean the walls. For example, the laundry is in the bathroom. I splashed detergent on the wall accidentally and I can't clean it off! The paint and plaster are so cheap, it can't be cleaned! And the dryer doesn't wash adequately, nor does the dishwasher. If you like fresh air, do not rent here. Also, beware of the thin walls and potential for screaming kids. From December through January, the kid next to me cried ALL through the night. I was on the verge of having a breakdown due to lack of sleep. While that's gotten better, the kid starts at 6 a.m. People smoke both cigarettes and marijuana (which I wouldn't mind if the windows opened!), so you can smell it in the hallways. It's gross. The apartment is beautiful, but I would have elected a not so beautiful apartment for open windows. read more

The people in the office is great but as for the apartments not so great the appliances not good the only appliance that worked well was the microwave othe than that stove was awful washer dryer not so great better off going to laundromat lighting not so great and major problem with ants absolutely no privacy you can hear everything in next apartment definitely not worth the money no windows that you can open people move in and with in a month they move out the amenities are not worth it It's like a maze I would keep looking for an apartment although the office personal is great they do a great job so hands up for them read more

God awful experience living here with my wife and daughter, I advise you not to trust this place at all! But if you do insist on renting here, STEER FAR AWAY FROM ANYTHING IN THE D UNIT AREA! The D units are plagued with leaks in the ceilings, which led to water and potential mold in our apartment the water dripped inches away from our wifi box, printer, and television! Even in the hallway, we would walk around tons of puddles from all of these leaks! I get it this is an old, industrial building but still no excuse for the costly amount to live here. We had to call maintenance multiple times to get the leaks patched up, they were able to patch some of them but the majority of issues we had, maintenance was very slow to resolve our issues or they forgot. The maintenance team has a lot of incompetence going on. Every time we addressed problems to the front desk whether it was with another tenant causing us grief or repairs, they would stare at my wife and I so indifferently and rude. It's almost like our anger was intrusive to them, well sorry.. there was a lot to have angry grievances about. There is no windows in the D unit either meaning no fresh air. If you're paying over $2,250 a month for an apartment you should be entitled to have fresh air. No windows means you're breathing in the same air thus why we had the flu longer and headaches. We truly kept an open mind and remained grateful for unique features like the spiral staircase to the loft, but by the end of our stay here the cons outweighed the pros. It is very hard to get your full deposit even if you left your apartment satisfactory, which we did. We figured the stressors would be over from them until we found out how much was deducted from the deposit. The carpet costing $514 was so unfair when we payed a pet policy that gave us the impression that the pet policy would offer some insurance, most pet policies in apartments do. Our cat did not wreck the whole carpet, they over-exaggerated the damage and could easily find a way to buff out the minor damages its just a few rips the carpet was not destroyed. They said we owed on the laundry machine door which is BS, my wife brought it to their attention multiple times that we needed the laundry door fixed and they said it would be free as long as maintenance took care of it and they never did. Very frustrating they penalize us for that after we gave so much discretion. Thats just one of many promises they broke! Some people complain about the dumpster being too far, I didn't mind the extra calories burned but what I did mind was having to wake up ass early on a day off for them to snow plow the entire parking lot. Thats what they make you do during heavy snowfalls, they force you to wake up 7am and most times this was on my days off when in need of sleep. If you dont move in time to lot B for them to plow, they will tow you! I got into a scuffle with some jerk off tow truck driver, it was a hair away from getting physical because he was towing my car all cause I was a few minutes late to move it, I had to take care of my daughter with special needs. It's rules like that enforced by Lancaster Mills that caused us so much irritation to live here. Nobody should have to wake up in fear their car will be towed on a day off! Paper thin walls you can hear your neighbors argue , it was always loud! We got terrible sleep living here in general, I always knew there was something wrong about this place and knew intuitively we were being ripped off. This place is one big money trap, a dreadful experience that we want to put behind us. My astute observation is all of the disgruntled tenants I spoke to that moved out were all middle/working class struggling like us. You've got to be rich in order to remain here, I noticed most of the people that seemed happy here and stay drive luxury cars and pay over 3 grand a month for a deluxe apartment. Good for them if they want to blow their money stupidly on this place, I am glad I moved on and found a much more affordable place with very fair policies. This company jacked up the rent two years in a row and blamed it on inflation, so they could justify them gouging their tenants. Today (10/18/2023) they emailed all the current tenants offering money off on your rent, if you get a friend or coworker or somebody, you know to sign a lease. Now most of people are moving out because they jacked the rent up $385 in 2022 and now this year they rise it $170 in 2023. Here is a novel idea maybe if you don't jack the rent up so high you'll have tenants that will want to stay. I don't blame the girls in the office or the maintenance men but the bigwigs in the glass tower that don't give a shit besides their bottom line. read more

THE GOOD: Just like every reviewer out there and in yelp, I fell in love with the beautiful vaulted ceilings and staircase. The people that work there are very nice employees. This is why I give it a 2 stars. THE BAD: Breaking the lease is difficult - you must pay 2 months of rents notice and 3 months of "penalty". Then another bill ~$1.2k to $3k for cleaning, administrative and lawyers fees. THE UGLY: The units are poorly built. With this in mind, you can hear when someone takes a shower or using the toilet grunting while taking a massive poop, you can hear sex, conversations (at low voice), TVs, radios and walking steps (with or without shoes), every time the doors are opened and closed, every barking dog and cat meowing, kids yelling and playing, you can hear absolutely everything. The bamboo flooring care is another nightmare, hence included in the lease agreement on how to care and clean. This is NOT an exaggeration. Listen to what everyone is saying, including the 5 stars reviews, they are saying that they can hear everything, hence "quiet time" in the lease agreement. Please take a look at pictures posted from other reviewers. MY ADVICE: go see these units during the weekend around noon time when everyone is active and moving about their apartments. Best time, after 4pm when people are returning from work. You can hear everyone cooking and socializing in front of a TV. While the staff is friendly this is their job to sell you on the location. Do not live here if you have small children or not an avid pot smoker because like any where the smell travels through the duct work and there is no escaping it. The installation was coming out of the walls and the snow removal and laying salt in the winter is lacking. While it is nice to have the amenities of a basketball court, game room and movie theater the apartments themselves need some work. These lofts are over priced for what they "offer". 1. Everyone has a dog and you pay a pet fee.. a long with the pet fee you pay the flea infested price. Yes, my dog had fleas all the time since I moved here. Lancaster also fails to tell you that if your pet pees on the rug it will get replaced at your expense at end of lease. You also have to pay someone to clean the apartment "professionally" and show proof that you paid to get the place cleaned for turn in at end of lease. 2. In the summer the entire outside wreaks like dog urine, especially when it rains and the sun comes out to dry up. 3.Elevator moves as fast as molasses. 4. Washer and dryers are horrible and very small. 5. Your electric and heating bill will be a fortune to heat up these lofts with high ceilings. 6. Always a problem to use the "movie theater" 7. They don't want you moving unless is business hours for them. Bottom line not a great place to live... look elsewhere. read more

We moved here from Arlington Massachusetts. We are into our 3rd lease year and love this place. We have a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. The first thing I fell in love with 3 years ago is the architecture of the building and the uniqueness of the apartment. They have retained as much as possible of some of the original beam work and original brickwork. I love the appliances and all are provided including a washer & dryer. The next thing that impressed me is the shower in the master bathroom. It's a large walk in with a seat in the corner. Everything was freshly cleaned and painted. The building is pet friendly with a reasonable monthly pet deposit. I have met so many friendly people just by seeing them walking their dogs. The staff in the office is awesome. They are friendly and bend over backwards to be of assistance. We've researched rent in other places and this place is much lower in comparison. We've had no problems with noise from neighbors. There's a putting green, theater that I've used with the grandchildren to entertain them. You just need your own dvd. Also there's a game room, basketball court and game room. Maintenance is always available to fix anything that goes wrong, but we've only needed them a couple times to replace ceiling light bulbs. Our utility bills are so reasonable, gas and water runs around $20/ month, electricity less than $200 which is excellent as it is an all electric apartment. We look forward to spending many more years here. We are retired and enjoy this so much. I forgot to add that the area is gorgeous. There are so many places to walk. We are within a 5 minute walk to the Watchusett Dam and reservoir. We can see parts of it during the winter from our windows. I see gorgeous sunsets as well. Beautiful area to live in. read more

I've lived in about 12 apartments (ex-military) and this is by far the worst apartment I have ever dealt with. Their lease break requirements are ridiculous and asinine. I dropped a 60-day notice and they are now charging me for 75 days because I didn't break my lease on the first....on top of a 5k lease break fee. This is the absolute WORST place you could ever consider living. Admittedly, this is for Junction Lofts in Worcester, but still owned by same company, Brady Sullivan out of Manchester New Hampshire, that is horrible to deal with. The below is for Worcester location, however, same issues appear to take place at most of their locations - PLUS - legal issues pending against lack of safety - please feel free to look it up, there are a LOT of them! Main Issues: YOUR SAFETY, Unworldly Utility Bills (Heat), Internal walls of the units cannot be insulated because you can hear your neighbors' TV, Pets, arguing, cooking, pro-creating...I think you get the gist of what i am saying..... When I first moved in two years ago, we were promised Security on site. Well that didn't last long at all. Cars were broken into often. One parking lot didn't even have lights in the lot at night time for at least 9 months, and still didn't when I moved out. Continually, you would walk out to the lot in the morning and see car's windows smashed and cars ransacked. Once the "security gates" were installed, people would leave them open, or somehow people (and I mean people who lived on the streets) would end up within the gates, and would knock on my door at nights. The doors to the Condo's are all so old, and you can see light come through them. Pretty sure someone could easily kick it in, if you weren't there to "shoo" them off. Same goes for the internal hallways to the units. Often you would find "people" trying one door after another, trying to gain access to anyone's unit. Back to the Security Guard that was supposed to be there. Uh, gone after about 6 months...that's when it all started. My daughter was terrified to stay there if i wasn't home with her, and there were enough examples that i brought to "management" onsite, as well as at their Corp Office. The response I got from "management" was "you knew where you were moving to". Really? I travel to Baltimore, Philly, NYC, Detroit, so I am not really scared of Worcester. I was scared that BRADY SULLIVAN doesn't care about their tenants' security (Please refer to the MANY, MANY lawsuits against them now for poisoning their tenants with asbestos). Safety was such an issue that I had no other alternative, but to leave. I gave notice, and properly ensured that my unit was ready for rent, and professionally cleaned. The "manager" at the time, there was about 5 different "managers" onsite in the 10 months i was there, told me that, since i gave notice, and my unit was rented within a week after i had vacated, and I paid for two months rent, PLUS they kept my deposit - my unit was literally in better shape when i left, than when i got there - I would be all set. NOPE!! I was sent a letter a year later from a Collections Agency looking for $3000....over a YEAR after. I disputed it, of course, but I still have to pay it so my credit does not get damaged. So, BRADY SULLIVAN managed to get my rent for the 10 months i lived there, PLUS, two months EXTRA I paid, since i broke the lease early, PLUS kept my deposit, PLUS still came after me for $3000. For those of you that are considering living at Junction Lofts, I cannot encourage you enough to NOT CONSIDER it.....Do yourself a favor and go someplace else.... read more

I, like so many others, were drawn to this place because the impressive look of the apartments with those spiral staircases and industrial aesthetics, but all that shines is not gold and these apartments are the thinnest coat of gold leaf over walls held together by sticks, spit and wishes. Pros: + Impressive when you have friends visit, they will inevitably think the apartment looks cool since they don't have to deal with all its faults. + Near the reservoir - wonderful running trail or a place to take a stroll + The staff were always lovely people to me and I liked them greatly. Cons: - It cannot be UNDERSTATED how THIN these walls are. Get ready to hear every conversation from your neighbors, the constant clatter of dishes being put away, or what was most maddening to me -- the ripcord snoring of a neighbor every night. The walls might as well be made of the cereal that the nearby factory produces for all the noise cancelling it does. I can't impress upon you in any short form how much you will actually be able to hear the other apartments, but trust me it's never going to be peaceful. - Poor door sealing. You can see a solid gap around the door to at least some units and can feel the wind blow in during the winter months. Suffice it to say the units are wonderfully heating inefficient. - The lofts are SCORCHING, the high ceilings look great, but the sensor for the AC is on the bottom floor and you will never cool down the lofts. I tried to use it like an office and simply could not reliably use the space in the spring to summer seasons because of the unabated heat. - The air system brings in your neighbor's smells. I'm a vegetarian and let me tell you the constant smells of roasted meats or greeting every weekend with my entire apartment reeking of bacon was not a great experience. - No ethernet jacks anywhere. One could be mistaken for the seeing the landline port quickly during a tour and thinking it's an ethernet port, but nope -- hope all your electronics are wireless. - Garbage is an absolute pain. The garbage is at the far side of the parking lot in the way back so have fun lugging your piles of trash out in the winter. - Most galling is that they will absolutely nickle and dime you when you move out. They essentially expect the apartment to be in a state of stasis during your stay and will come after you for an exhaustive, nit-picking list of absolutely everything once you do inevitably rotate out. All in all if you ever wish to have a moment's peace in where you stay and want somewhere that's not going to absolutely try to gouge every red cent out of you that they can when you do leave -- DO NOT COME HERE. I didn't take these reviews seriously when I moved in and I frankly regret it. read more

I was looking for apartments and The Lofts at Lancaster Mill caught my eyes. I called and made and appointment to look at one of the apartments. I am a single mother, recently divorced and was looking for a reliable, safe place for my children and I to move to. I also have two cats that I did not want to give up. I had looked at other apartments throughout the area and when I came and looked at the first apartment here I knew this was where I needed to be. The first two were a little out of my price range so I was a little discouraged, but an apartment opened up right in my price range and I went to take a look and just fell love with the apartment!!! I moved in in October. I am so happy here. I truly can not say enough about the staff! They are always polite and so very kind. If there is any concerns I have, they are always willing to help in anyway. The walls are a thin but I do not mind at all. It is a secure area. The police patrol the parking lot on a regular basis so I definitely feel that my children and I are safe. The children (and the cats) love all the space. There is an indoor basketball court that my son loves. There is a pool table that is in great condition. There are so many amenities that add to the great place that it already is. If you are looking for an apartment I would recommend looking here! This review is truly coming from hard working single Mom that needed a good place to "start over again" and I really did find it. read more

We moved to Lancaster Mill from the Chicago area nearly two years ago now and have been very pleased with our choice. The Mill had recently been renovated as loft spaces, and one of the things we liked most was the unique look of the units. The materials used were beautiful and really set off the classic brick of the original building. The appliances are excellent. We found the rent to be very reasonable for the space provided, especially compared to the other properties in the area that we looked at. The office staff are professional and helpful. Compared to utility prices in the Chicago area, our electric and gas bills have been very reasonable, which we did not expect in a move to New England! Management does a much better job of snow removal than our Chicago experience led us to expect, also. (It does entail residents participating in a car "shuffle" the morning after the storm, but the office provides clear instructions and frequent reminders.) The units are not as sound-resistant as the apartments in buildings that began their lives as multi-unit dwellings. As a result, "quiet hours" from 10 pm to 8 am are part of the lease agreement. The location of the Mill means that there is very little background noise, however, such as traffic or sirens. There is a lovely walking path around the reservoir that begins across the street, and the main park in Clinton is directly up the hill in the opposite direction, so the location yields many pleasant walks. Parking is convenient. Maintenance is handled promptly. Storage units are available on the property and very reasonably priced. Bills may be paid online. The office accepts package delivery and does an excellent job of keeping packages secure. I do wish that the renovation had included a backsplash behind the stove in the kitchen. After nearly two years, that is my biggest criticism of the renovation! Also, it took me a while to adjust to the dryer, which is a condensing dryer that works somewhat differently than vented dryers. Drying takes longer. I suggest that you actually read the lease before signing. Quiet hours, parking rules, pet requirements, and the expectations about cleaning before move-out are all covered in detail in the lease. I will give it two stars because I love the maintenance guys and a few of the front office personnel... Expect the run around when first applying, everyone went through it and it seems common practice that once you pick a unit they rent it to someone else causing multiple visits and time wasted looking. The application process is also tedious and not necessary! If you're looking at this type of place you expect some things like rowdy neighbors here and there and children running through the halls. What they don't tell you is how much you can hear in the apartments... you will hear sex, arguments, cooking, dogs crying and kids screaming! There is absolutely no insulation.. we had to move our beds from one wall to another because the people next to us have three small children who get up at 5:30 am and immediately start fighting with each other, crying and then run up and down the spiral staircase over and over.. they also have a treadmill that they run on for over an hour everyday which shakes my whole unit! I have emailed the front office and nothing is done EVER! We have dogs but are very respectful about cleaning up after them , other people here could care less.... there is dog feces everywhere and where dogs pee out front it actually wreaks horrifically in the summer and grows green fungus... the maintenance guys do what they can to maintain this place and it's sad that people do that.. I have sent photos to the front office because they have a policy on not cleaning poop up and nothing was done.. actually none of the policies are enforced at all... once you show a rabies certificate they never ask for it again when resigning your lease. The washer and dryer are very small and can only accommodate five pairs of jeans at a time and maybe four towels... if you decide on a loft be prepared for the extremely high electric bills. Our first summer we called the electric company because we couldn't believe it was 400.00 for the month of air conditioning and to our surprise it was correct! The gym is basically unusable as everything is always broken and outdated.. I'm sure I could write an entire book on our two year stay here but we are finally leaving and I couldn't be happier that we are! Good luck if you decide to live here! read more

We have never been so happy to move out of an apartment! Like everyone else, we were "wowed" by the appearance of high end finishes, exposed beams, brick walls, etc. We decided on a two bedroom one bath apartment. The application process was extremely lengthy and included a 39 page lease agreement (not kidding). We were, however, comforted by the fact that they did background and credit checks and seemed to not let just "anyone" live here. Everything was lovely at first, until we started to notice the cheapness and poor construction of the apartment. The baseboards are made of what feels like cardboard particleboard, are crooked, and don't go all the way down to the hardwood. Dust and dirt gets trapped under the baseboards, making proper cleaning a nightmare. The walls are EXTREMELY thin and uninsulated. They also do not go all the way to the end of the exposed brick leaving huge gaps where you can actually see the other room. *(see pictures) * We could hear our neighbors having a conversation at a regular tone at night very clearly- every word...among other things. In addition to this, the walls are painted with a flat paint so any mark or dirt cannot be washed off. The bamboo flooring is also appealing at first, but scratches and dents so easily. It is not durable at all, so if you have pets and/or small children stay away! Unfortunately, at the end of our first lease we were not in a position to move, so we made the mistake of signing another one-year lease. That's when our residence at the Lofts started to really decline for us. Kelly, the property manager, as well as support staff, would send out aggressive emails to the entire community almost on a weekly basis. They have strict rules in this community, but if you're a "favorable resident" we've noticed, management will let you blatantly skirt around the rules. We have seen the management office go through at least three assistant property managers in under two years and several staff members. A few months into our second lease term, we got new neighbors who are so loud at all hours of the night waking us up out of a deep sleep, blasting music, yelling at their dog, etc. Out of concern for the dog's wellbeing, we submitted several written complaints to Kelly and the office. They basically told us there is nothing they can do and to follow up with the Police. One of these complaints even included a call to the MSPCA because the noises and screaming/cussing led us to believe they were abusing their dog. Horrific! Many of the exposed pipes in our apartment are drain pipes that come from the roof. This is something that was not disclosed to us when we moved in. The pipe in our second bedroom is quite large and extremely loud when it rained, which would be impossible to sleep with for a child's room/nursery. We found in the colder months, the pipes collect so much condensation they drip down creating large puddles on the floor, carpets, even the bed! The second bedroom also had a large cut out in the wall that would let in noise and light from the main living area which made it almost impossible to use as a bedroom unless you use earplugs and an eye mask. Most windows in these apartments do not open, keep this in mind if you decide to look at Lancaster Mills and make sure you find one with windows that open. Our electricity was upwards of $200/month in the winter and $300/month in the summer for a 1000 sq/ft apartment. During our last few months , it seemed like they are letting anyone live there. We started smelling marijuana in the hallways constantly, to the point where management had to send out another one of their emails. (I am all for legalization but this is not the kind of image I want to portray when guests come visit my home)Long story short- I don't recommend anyone move here. Do your due diligence and read the reviews here and on other review sites. These are not disgruntled residents. Take your money elsewhere and avoid the headaches and stress. read more
