The lounge is warm and inviting with a wood fire burning and lots of comfortable chairs to relax in. We ate in the bar, there is also a restaurant, great choice of food which was excellent. Again service was very good. Our bedroom was amazing! The king bed was very comfortable, the room spacious and beautifully decorated with an en-suite bathroom. I would absolutely recommend the Bein Inn Hotel. It is charming and welcoming, fabulous service and great food, perfect for everyone! Will definitely be returning. High level of cleanliness and even on a wednesday at 1pm there were a fair few tables full. We were seated and shown the menu, ordered a drink and the specials were explained with enthusiasm. We ordered and mentioned that we had a voucher and this was dealt with without issue. Main course arrived within 15 minutes and was piping hot, well presented and delicious. The location was perfect- walkable from all the sights, quiet, and close to Edinburgh Waverley. Cons: I had checked in on the app. I don't love that they charge progressively more for checking in early. It felt like a money grab if the room was available earlier. We had checked in on the app but when we tried to go down the hall to our room, a staff member rudely told us to check in at the front desk. I felt like I was being scolded, when the app had already provided check in instructions and door code. The bed was not comfortable. The rooms were cold- I tried to turn up the heat but it must have a setting that doesn't allow it to go past a certain temperature. There was no closet or anywhere to unpack belongings for the stay. Everything we needed was there. All bathroom and kitchen necessities were provided. There is a laundry/dryer machine in the apartment. We liked that it was close to a lot of the places that we were going to as a tourist, either walking distance or via bus. It was a very comfortable home away from home. But the cherry on top for us is that the staff there goes above and beyond. They are very kind and helpful. When we needed a taxi, they called one for us. Our last day in Edinburgh was going to be a train ride to London. We checked out and went to the train station. We were at the station when I asked my daughter if she had her laptop with her. She looked in her bag and discovered that it wasn't in her backpack. Just as I was turning to go back to the apartment, one of the staff (Karen), appeared out of nowhere with the computer. The apartment is a little over 1/2 mile from the train station. Karen looked like she ran from the apartment to find us. She tried calling us but we didn't have service. So she took the time to bring it down to us. We are so grateful for Karen and the rest of staff that is caring and kind! We had wonderful stay at the Royal Garden Apartments and in Edinburgh.

The location is relatively convenient, it's less than 10 min walk from Haymarket station and there are plenty of buses and trams that take you to the airport in less than 30 min(£4-£5). Grassmarket is about 10 min walk and there are plenty of restaurants and pubs. The famous Royal Mile is about 15 min walk. You get £1 discount if you book the breakfast at the reception. For £7, you get yogurt of your choice, fruits, bread, pastries, coffee/tea, fruit juice and main dish of your choice. I recommend egg benedict, French toast was mediocre. The £7 breakfast is a good value because nearby Loudons Cafe charges £7 for egg benedict alone. The Italian receptionist and the Spanish receptionist were very helpful and friendly. They gave me good directions for must-see places around the hotel and helped me book a day trip excursion to Highlands. Although there is no air-condition in the room, the weather was cool enough that I didn't really need it as long as I keep the window open. However, it became a problem on weekend night when there were rowdy drunk crowd walking around the neighborhood at midnight making noises. Pros: location, cool wall paper, nice guest lounge, friendly staff, good breakfast Cons: tiny room, no bath tub, no A/C I didn't mind staying here because of the location but I wasn't happy with the room set up.

There is a pleasant bar and cafe called Itchycoo which offers a tapas-style menu. As a guest you have complimentary access to the Leisure Club with swimming pool and gym. You can also book wellness treatments such as massages and facials.

The restaurant for breakfast was full and people were being seated in an over flow function room and service was slow. service was also slow in the bar however this was a very nice setting for an evening drink. The hotel has an indoor pool which was a nice touch and a gym although it was very dated and needs some serious ungrading. Although i was pleased with my stay there is so much choice in Edinburgh that next time i may choose some where else.

The venue itself is gorgeous, it really epitomises all the Georgian glamour of the New Town with the opulent décor and grand high ceilings. The staff are really friendly too - if i worked in a fancy hotel the last thing I'd want to have to do would be to wait on a load of students having their end of year balls, but if the staff here thought that they did an excellent job of hiding it. The other thing that struck me was how nice the food was, considering they were catering for a huge number of people the attention to detail and consistency in the quality of all 3 courses was commented on by several people at our table. The drinks prices at the cash bar were a bit excessive though, although I suppose it's only to be expected oin a nice hotel. And I guess you do have to treat yourself every once in a while! It may not have the same reputation as The Balmoral, but I'd say this place is batter hands down.

The people at the reception area are very polite and not in a snotty way. It is just their lifestyle and I think its rather cool how they speak and treat people. I would come down for breakfast with my jogging sweats and bad hair, and I was treated just as well and courteous as people with suits. THe place overall looks well kept and it is in a good location as well. I like the workout facilities and sauna too. Plus they had the lobby well decorated for Christmas. Yeah the music during breakfast was a bit out of place but no one is perfect. Just want to also mention they do have wi-fi and is fast. And the bathroom had this mirror that lights up and can magnify every cell (or just wrinkle) on your face if you have any. For a backpack traveler like me I found it fun to poke around with it.
