Great salon. Talented stylists. The salon is beautiful. I wish it was closer to where I live.

I booked an appt for a pedicure. Just wanted a basic pedicure but had to pay extra to have gel polished removed from toes first. No big deal as I know that is extra. I was told to pic a color, but, I have to be honest here, there was really no choice to make for me. They had very dull color choices and not very many which totally surprised me. I kept saying that nothing was interesting to me. Anyhow, finally decided (all the while being not happy with color). Might I add that this was the most expensive pedicure that I ever paid for and I have traveled all over the world. It was so basic, they don't even trim up the cuticles around the nail, they do nothing to the areas around the nails. NEVER had that happen before. They look horrible to me. She had to keep polishing one of the nails, or should I say half of my nail, over and over to try and get it right. (never did) Just a VERY TERRIBLE experience. Lesson learned. I have very difficult thick wavy curly frizzy hair and have hardly ever left a salon happy . MJ gave me a wash cut blow dry and curl that exactly matched the picture I showed her one time . I am so happy with the staff the cleanliness the overall relaxed feel of this salon that I will be a repeat customer and would highly recommend this salon at Walmart way Greenbrier area to anyone who asks for referral !! read more

I really wanted to like this place because the staff was super nice, including the hair stylist. The prices are reasonable. I went for partial highlights and ended up with horrible results! I didn't really noticed until the day after. I had to have my hair corrected after my visit to this salon. I wanted to have lighter hair for the summer but to correct my hair color, I had it darkened. No wonder she seemed nervous towards the end and told me several times that if she needed to tweak anything, just come back. Also, I have curly hair and my blow out was terrible! Sadly, with these places, I lose trust the first time they don't get it right. I will not be coming back. read more

THE MESSAGES!!! Brrrroooo! Wow! Amy is the TRUTH!!! I've never tried this place before but gave it a chance and booked an appointment for myself and the wife for an hour long massage. She had the Swedish, I had the Deep Tissue. Dude, believe me when I tell you how I'm floored at the quality of this massage. I've never had one like it. Me and the wife walked out of there walking on cloud 9. Were making it a point to do this at least once every two months. It's worth the time and mental health in relaxation. If you're in the Chesapeake area you need to check this place out! Amy was AMAZING!!! The rest of the staff was really nice also. We will be back, that's for sure! Used to be awesome. Up until recently this was my favorite place to get a pedicure, but unfortunately almost all the employees have stopped wearing face masks and my most recent pedicure included my skin being cut to the point of bleeding on one toe. Before, everyone wore masks and nobody ever cut into my skin. I'm heartbroken because now I have to find a new salon due to wholly fixable problems. Previously I also tried getting my hair cut and my eyelashes lifted and tinted at Look, but those services were awful even back in 2019. I was kept waiting for nearly an hour past my appointment time for the haircut, and then the cut was unflattering because the stylist was overly aggressive when cutting my bangs despite careful, experienced instructions from me. (I'm not one of those clients who doesn't know what they want or is bad at communicating my expectations. I pointed to exactly where I wanted my bangs to end.) For the lash lift and tint, the lady got chemicals in my eyes; thankfully there was no permanent damage, but it really hurt. Worse still, my lashes were barely lifted and the color was uneven. I would return to Look if they reinstated their 100% mask wearing policy and raised their standards for employee training and performance. Maybe they should pare down the vast number of services they offer, because I very much get a "jack of all trades, master of none" vibe from their skill levels. I hope they fix these issues because they really do have a lot of promise and a very friendly culture. read more

I got a massage for 90 minutes, because someone gave me a gift card for $45, so I just paid the difference. The massage itself was literally the best massage I've ever had. This place is slightly more expensive than I would normally pay, but having a gift card- it made it not so bad. However, the massage was really so good. I could see myself coming here more frequently. (I saw Susannah). The receptionist was so sweet from the moment I walked in. I waited only a few minutes, and I was in my room right at my appointment time. So I get my glorious massage, rest for a few minutes on the bed, and then head out to pay. My gift card didn't work, and the receptionist couldn't pull up anything about it. I was ready to just pay out pocket, which would've sucked, but also they have a business to run, and I could've been scamming them for all they know. The receptionist went to talk to the manager, and they honored it. I was legit blown away at that, and didn't believe it at first. That is above & beyond of a business to do that, in my opinion. So, as if the massage wasn't reason enough to return, that was the cherry on top. The way they treat their customers is over what I ever expect these days. Omg... So I had the worst color and cut a week ago from another salon down the street. I thought I would like the color that the stylist gave me but after a week, I just hated even the more! I called The Look based on reviews and friend's recommendation to see if I can get it corrected. I was able to get in the same day for consultation with Nathan to see what can be done. He advised with other stylists for their opinions and suggestion and we came up with a game plan and I'm ready to go!! I originally wanted a balayage and what I got from the other salon was basically an ombré with a brassy ugly grandma wig color brown. You know that ugly brown color that's at the Chinese wig store? Or that brown on the Barbie doll? Well...That was my color! Nathan did AWSOME in fixing my hair color to exactly what it was supposed to look like in the first place, balayage 'sunkissed look' !! I loved the fact the stylists worked together to help each other out for the best interest of the customers. Before you walk out the door, I noticed the stylist asking their clients did they like their hair and if they wanted it to be cut more, or styled a different way, etc. I felt they were not hurrying clients out the door for their next person. You're paying for a service and you will get your money's worth here. Nathan is talented stylist and he took his time to fix my hair because it required 2 different colors and a toner to fix my hair, it was not an easy process at all. I went to this salon for a trim and balayage and it was an good experience overall. The front desk staff were polite, professional, and attentive. Brittany did a great job and she was so nice and personable! She listened to what I wanted and was able to thin out my hair as requested. Not all stylists do a good job at that, but Brittany removed the bulk and cleaned up the ends without sacrificing much of the length. It's exactly what I wanted. My balayage is very subtle (as I requested). It lightened up my dark brown hair and added some dimension. I will probably go a little bit lighter next time. I was able to easily book an appointment with the receptionist and she was very nice! I was able to get an all over color, cut, style, and hair treatment for $200 (that's without tip) which I think is amazing for the price. There is a good amount of parking and was assisted as soon as I checked in. They even offer a beverage when you walk in which I appreciated. Beautiful spot, very clean & relaxing! The bed/table is very comfortable when you're on your back but my breasts were hurting when I was on my stomach. I've been coming to this salon for YEARS! I love Heather; she's awesome and always does a great job with my hair-- she's amazing. Typically, if she's booked I'll leave a message and she'll call me back to let me know if she can fit me in or not (and no big deal if she can't). Today when I called I was hung up on by the receptionist because I wanted to leave a message for Heather. She refused, was extremely rude, and spoke to me like I was a moron -- repeating over and over that Heather was booked that day even speaking slowly telling me "He a th er is bo oked Sa tu rday" -- like I understand what you're saying.. I'm not stupid -- all of that was completely out of line an unnecessary. I just wanted to leave a dang message. Typically this salon is awesome, but wow does that woman need a lesson in customer service. Yesterday was my first experience with the salon. I went in for a cut and left one very satisfied customer.  After an extensive Google/ Yelp search I came across Michael. To say he is incredible is an understatement. He asked me what I wanted and executed perfectly. Most times than not, in the past, a stylist would cut my hair to their choosing. Not Michael!!!! This was my first visit and I wanted to love this place as much as everyone else but unfortunately I can't. The staff is VERY friendly, and I mean everyone, from the front desk, to my nail tech, to the other customers too. My services were done very quick, and upon walking out, my nails looked awesome. I think my favorite part is that the place smelled so nice. There were no chemical smells in the air, from nails or hair. The bad part is that, despite having such a great time, my nails haven't lasted. I got them done last Friday, with shellac. They started peeling Tuesday, and today they just look bad. I guess it's the product that they use, but I know that I shouldn't have to pay $50 ($32 for manicure, 5 for French, and then the rest for tip) for my nails to not even last a week, with a product that starts on the website is guaranteed to last 14 days. I don't garden, wash dishes by hand, do hair or anything like that. I also have gone to other places and my shellac has lasted as it should. While I love the atmosphere, I can't write a good review about a nail salon if my nails aren't great :-/ read more

I really tried to give my haircut some time to see if it would work out but wow...I asked for a simple right below the shoulder cut with long layers (I had a picture of what I wanted) and got the complete opposite Brittany cut my hair right at my shoulder and short layers that make me look like a boy with longer hair. I am so mortified that I have yet to wear my hair down because I am so embarrassed. The salon itself is great, the lady next to me and behind me had fabulous hair! I got my hair permed here and it looks great. The atmosphere was amazing and my hair stylists was very sweet. It took about 4 hours but my hair is pretty long. My biggest problem with this place and the reason why I gave four stars is because when I went to pay it was 80 dollars more than I expected. The prices did say 95+ for perms for long hair but I would have liked to get an estimate at least. Other than that, great spot if you're okay with splurging. She made me look like the Dutch boy on the can of paint. The color was "ok". The haircut was awful and it's not okay to not listen to the customer. I mostly pull back half of my hair. Stumbled on this place after going to an unnamed salon 2x that did a great job, however, when you have to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for a root touch up, something is wrong. The staff here is friendly and the prices are reasonable considering Virginia Beach and it's surrounding areas are kinda high compared to where I came from. Update: I thought I got exactly what I asked for until I got home and noticed more closely that she had cut my hair so jagged that it was hard for me to even put it up in a pony tail or braid it. Experience is always exceptional! The wait can be a little long even with an appointment but over all I love being pampered here. They offer you a drink, everyone is so friendly and makes you feel great. I definitely recommend Alyssa she does an amazing job and is super sweet. I just moved to the area from Los Angeles a couple months ago, so I was looking for my new "place." I had a quick wash, cut and blow-dry with Carlinn a couple weeks ago. For me, it's just my bi-yearly trim. My hair is really long, and I don't like to cut it often (even though I know I should) so I'm really careful on who I trust with it. The reviews on this place was pretty promising. This was the QUICKEST service I've ever had, and thats not a bad thing. My hair is LONG, and usually takes a LONG time, but I was pleasantly surprised that I was in this place less than 45 minutes, so that was great. I told my stylist that I usually straighten my hair, so she said she would straighten it for me after my blow-dry. Every other place I've gone to would just run a flat iron through it to get it mostly straight. No no no, not Carlinn, she STRAIGHTENED it. Like.... she put in my Saturday night straightening efforts, and my hair looked FABULOUS. It was soft, and shiny (I seriously need to find out what kind of shampoo she used). I was kinda bummed it was just a Tuesday and I had nowhere to go afterwards, lol. After I paid, I was given a booklet with their full list of services and I was BLOWN AWAY at all of the things I can get done at this salon. Hair, nails, massages?? In ONE PLACE?? No doubt in my mind I'll be back to take advantage of most of this services list, lol. Highly recommended by someone who is VERY PICKY with anyone who touches her hair!! read more

As a military spouse, I can assure you that one of the things we fear most after moving to a new area is finding our "go-to" salon. It is downright terrifying trying to find someone you can trust with your hair. My fears were immediately put aside from the minute I called to make my appointment. The receptionist was very warm and friendly and carefully placed me with a stylist that would meet my needs. I needed heavy highlighting and root coverage and a much needed haircut for this mess of head of hair that I've got. She explained that they work off of a level system and would place me with one of their master stylists, Natalia. My daughter who just wanted a trim and an eyebrow wax was placed with Michael. We arrived and were immediately greeted by the staff and asked if we would like anything to drink (soda, water, teas, wine etc). We didn't have to wait and our stylists came out to greet us and take us to our chairs. My daughter loved her cut, wax, shampoo and blow out that Michael did and told me "Mom, I like this place can you bring me back?" Scored points in the cool mom status today! Natalia was AMAZING! I appreciate that she took her time and was patient with me. She carefully explained the options she had to color my hair, take it to the level that I wanted, and best for root grow out. She is very knowledgeable about color processing and formulating. Her personality is very warm and she will keep you laughing in her chair. After several hours, my transformation was complete and I couldn't be happier. My cut and color is on point. But what really matters is that I left there feeling like I had made a friend. Such a rip-off! Misleading pricing on their website. Poor service. I booked a 'haircut' service on their website that shows $35. I just wanted a trim and even-out the length of my hair that had short layers at the end. Just a straight trim all around. I got there on my appointment day/time with a clean, washed, shampoo'd hair (like I always did). A younger guy approached me & lead me to where hairs are getting washed & shampoo'd, & he asked me what was getting done on me that day. I said "just a haircut, I've washed & shampoo'd my hair already." So he then lead me to the hair-cutting area. Waited for a couple more minutes. Then JennJ came to do my hair. I told her what I wanted done... trim, even out the ends, straight cut all around. She even showed me what will be cut... which is about 2 inches, and I saiid 'yes'. She started cutting. straightened all around. And was done in not even 7 minutes max. Didn't even spray wet it. Didnt even spray wet it for easy accurate trimming, like other stylists usually do. So she then lead me to the checkout... the girl said... $50. And in my mind I'm like $50, for that???!!!. I booked for a $35 haircut. My cut surely didn't cost even $35 even. I didn't question why it cost $50 for my haircut. I even gave JennJ a tip... just the person that I am. I've been to Salon Day Spa for massages, facials, & haircuts before... leaving reasonably happy every time. I tip fairly well. But this last time, though... I left really disappointed, and felt like robbed... which is what you shouldn't feel after leaving a place where you should've felt pampered & relaxed. Although the Look Salon is tucked away into a little corner of a very busy shopping center, they are definitely a salon worth looking into. The salon itself is huge and is separated into three different sections - the spa, the salon chairs, and then another section with sinks, dryers, and nail stations. They offer everything your heart desires...literally! From massages to hair cuts and everything in between, the staff at the Look can satisfy all of your pampering needs. I recently went and got my haircut by Natalia. She's amazing and so professional! She was quite the perfectionist and made sure I was absolutely in love with my hair before I left. You can tell she is really passionate about her job and strives to make every client happy. All of the staff at the Look were so nice and knowledgeable. I'm not sure if every salon honors this, but the Look allows you to come in within two weeks of your initial appointment for any tweaks to your hair. I thought that was pretty awesome and it shows their dedication to making sure their customers are 100% satisfied. I was new to this salon. I had a 3 pm for a mani pedi with Heather. I arrived 5 min early, was kindly greeted then waited over 15 min to be seen. No one said she was late -actually someone told her I was here at 5 min past, and she got up and walked away and didn't come back. Customers should be seen on time or given a good reason why they're running late. So I explained this to the receptionist and left. It's all about the customer service and this place doesn't have it! Update: the manager called to apologize, and offered to comp my service if I ever choose to come back. That was kind of her, but still doesn't make up for the issue with the nail tech and her customer service. read more

My hair stylist was great and has a nice personality, but took a while for a shampoo, cut, style, texture, and blow dry (1.5 hours). On my second appointment I was taken 20-30 minutes late :/. He has plenty of clients, so I doubt I'll be missed lol. My primary reason for leaving was the receptionist. She needs to work on not coming across as fake. Nothing is more annoying then being cut off when speaking. I cancelled an appointment, and was trying to explain why I would be calling back later, once my personal schedule was more solid. She cut me off saying "okay beautiful well you have a good day, uh huh, okay now, bub bye" all while IM TALKING. And then she hung up. When I paid my bill, she was busy talking on the phone with someone making an appointment rather than giving me that 2 minutes to ask how my appointment was and when would I like my next appointment. Just felt like I was on a conveyor belt. A little attention to a customer goes a lon way. I will say this, they don't try and shove products on you, and it was nice to be in a salon where the stylists are talking with you and not each other about another stylist. I have naturally curly brunette hair with natural blonde highlights throughout. I wanted a blonde dye job but unsure how I wanted to go about it. I set an early appointment, which is best here, and they set me up with Orlando. He listened to me and we went about creating a bayalage look. He painted my hair carefully and only using foils when necessary. He was very patient and meticulous. My end result is gorgeous and exactly what I wanted. I have a natural blonde color with beautiful highlights throughout. So many people loved my natural brunette before and they are shocked how much they love the blonde now.
