We walked coming from the CBD (it was a far walk...) and not up from the river, so it was a surprise to see a restaurant among car sales lots and business buildings. They offer us still, sparkling or filtered tap water. Extra charge for still and sparkling water. We didn't end up pairing the meal with any wine, but did get drinks (also very good). 6 courses (not including the bread starter) were: 1. salmon tartare: Fantastic. Don't know how the tartare was juicy without being fishy or having a strong flavor, but it was. Frozen yuzu was cool. 2. baby corn: Salty, but fun texture-wise. Hollandaise sauce was so good. I think it would have been fun to eat with the bread as well. 3. bbq prawns: Flavorful and delicious. Personally didn't understand the flavors of the apple tabouleh with it. 4. lamb rack: Someone said Australians really know how to cook lamb. This was my first taste of lamb in Australia. Not sure how to describe other than perfect. 5. lychee sorbet: Fine, but not memorable. I like lychee. 6. black sesame crepe: I thought it was a surprisingly heavy and filling dessert to end on, but my partner loved it. Even though I love black sesame, my favorite was actually the pandan gelato. It made me seriously hope that pandan-flavored foods are a thing in Australia, because they aren't a flavor trend in the US. I'm not sure if the bread was unlimited, but I did get to at least have two slices. If it were unlimited...my stomach would be in danger. Service was great and I left full and happy. Would definitely come again if I'm ever back in Brisbane, hopefully to try their regular menu.

Given that the hotel is located amongst bushland there is not much choice for hotel guests - that said it is a memorable restaurant. The view from the balconies is picturesque- looking out from Clear Mountain to Lake Samsonvale. There is a bar and lounge with fire place - it's roomy but has a cost space. It's full table service - the menu covers GF and vegan options. We ordered a range of dishes - wait staff were polite and friendly, efficient - as you would expect. The food was excellent - had the risotto and it was cooked just right, soft but firm. The Ragu was delicious. If you went for the steak best remember to get sides because the plate doers not include fries, greens or potatoes. The only down side is the price - it's really good food but should not be that expensive.

What's good about this joint besides the decor? My personal favourite (they do them particularly well here) the curly fries. They are so yum! Shouldn't they keep a loaded supply of what they are actually popular for in the fridge or something? I can't remember when the last time a Hogs Breath Cafe actually had some in stock. We were there at 7:30pm too, so it wasn't like it was the last steak shift of the day. One of the good things about the Indooroopilly Hogs Breath Cafe, is that it has awesome lunch specials, so if you're on a budget, come here for lunch on a Monday to Thursday and get a meal for under $10 - bit of a bargain, they have curly fries yes they do. I ordered a 'Chicken Ceasar Wrap' which was accompanied with curly fries. Pretty good value for less than $10 if you ask me. The serving portion was very generous with the amount of chicken, bacon and lettuce it offered. Since my friends were not after a meal, the waitress suggested they share the 'Banoffee pie' which was their dessert special for the day. Oh my goodness, this was delicious (I managed to steal a few bites)! We left the place with smiles on our faces and nothing to complain about. The service was great and the food was good. Everyone knows that Hog's Breath make good steak. What my last experience revealed is that steak is not the only thing they are good at.

Basically it seems to be one of those pubs where you stop by to grab a beer before jumping on the train to head off home, and that is pretty much it. Okay, it is pretty nice inside, but it really didn't have an atmosphere that I could comfortably call as fantastic. Actually it was rather dull. Okay, it does get points for convenience, but that is really about it. Oh, they do have seats outside which affords a nice view of Anzac Square, so I have to give it credit for that as well.
