It's what you would expect from a sports bar in the ambience. I would give it five stars but....the parking situation is not really friendly. The parking next to the restaurant is slanted so when you pull out you have to go against traffic and do multiple drive / reverse maneuvers. That being said, the burger we had was the best one I have ever tasted. The burger was super fresh grilled and not at all greasy. It was PERFECT. The fries though unfortunately fell short since the burger was placed on top of them and made them a tad soggy. BUT, it was amazing none the less. Awesome Blue burger! We added bacon, which was high quality and cooked perfectly, and shared the big burger and generous serving of fries. I was stuffed! On a weekend while visiting family who live on the island we went to The Lower Tavern twice. The beer selection was great (and I'm pretty picky about my beer) and the food was better. A month later and I am still talking about how AMAZING the Black and Blue Burger was. I will definitely be returning soon. read more

While the food was great the service was awful! I have never been treated so poorly in all my life. I did not get the waiters name but he did wear a man bun. The female wait staff seemed to be more friendly by far! So if you do visit The Lower Tavern make sure you don't have man bun wait on you! read more

We decided to eat here after having embarked on an unplanned trip to Orcas. Our server Jeff was an amazing host and made the experience 100% the right choice of venue. We had the cod fish & chips and the texture was superbly crunchy and flavorful. Very fresh. Unobtrusive music, clean bar, with excellent cider. And the bathroom was clean too! Really good burgers, and several choices to substitute french fries. Good beers on tap. Service was friendly, but not fast, which was fine for us, although the server got drinks out quickly. Local ingredients were used as much as possible. The server seemed to know many of the other diners, but we felt welcomed without the "sizing up" mentioned by another reviewer. Outdoor seating is limited by there being a smoking area. While we were there no one was smoking, but we didn't want to sit there and have to move. We would have sat outside except for that, it was a beautiful evening. Will definitely come back, wish they would get rid of the smoking area outdoors. read more

What a great place! We were on the island for a little over a week and went to The Lower Tavern 3 different times! They have a lot better hours than many of the other restaurants in Eastsound currently (late in the season plus COVID restrictions, etc.) and the prices were very reasonable! And they had football on the TVs that we wanted to watch. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful explaining the menu items! Highly recommend stopping for a meal and/or a beer! read more

Ordered burger medium. It came well done. It was a chore to eat. Service was great. Wine was nice and our table had a nice view.

Forget this place if you want anything gluten free. Fries are breaded and other items in shared frier. Only serve beer and wine. Don't bother if you are Celiac or wheat allergic. The entire island is understaffed during the 4th of July holiday weekend, but Terry and Jim made us feel like we were locals. (I once was 20 years ago). Sort of a divey ambience, with lots of older folks, including a gang of loudly-serenading carolers complete with guitar accompaniment (though I doubt that's a fixture of the establishment). Was looking for a place to eat on a busy Friday afternoon. Found this place on Yelp and was concerned about some of the 1star reviews regarding service, especially to tourists. Seemed like majority of patrons during this lunchtime were locals. Our server was Kyle and he was one of the most attentive and friendliest servers I've ever encountered. Always smiling and engaging, we felt very welcomed and his suggestions regarding the menu were great. My wife had the blue cheese burger and was extremely happy. I had a bacon/cheddar burger and was equally happy and left with a full belly and smile. Not sure if the people who wrote bad reviews came at an extremely busy time or just had a bad server, but I can guarantee that it wasn't Kyle. He was great. Would definitely go back again. read more
