Immaculate views downtown on the water, quality food, and kind and welcoming service. We had to pay a $100 deposit to hold a table for our group of 5, but so glad we did (you get it back of course). The freshest oysters, quality seafood of all sorts, great fries, good drink options (including non-alcoholic). In particular we really appreciated the service. She heard us talking about ferry times and checked in about our time needs without us asking, allowed my friend to charge her hearing aids since we couldn't at the camp site, didn't judge us for coming in in less than casual biking gear, AND served some bomb eats. I made a reservation here for a Saturday 7pm, so that we could enjoy dinner through golden hour and possibly sunset. There's no way to make a note online lto be seated by the window or outside, which was fine, as the hostess checked us in and asked about our preferences. We opted for a table outside since the weather was fantastic for early May and it is more private of a setting compared to the busier and louder indoors. We tried the prosciutto jalapeño, Dungeness crab cakes, and linguine alle vongole, so 2 starters and 1 entree, and it was enough for 2. The prosciutto jalapeño was quite hearty - stuffed with cheese and served with a side of a ranch/thousand island type of sauce. The crab cakes were decent, with good amount of crab meat but definitely not full of crab that would make the $28 price tag justifiable. There was still quite a bit of flour, but it was served in 2 pieces. The linguine alle vongole was pretty delicious - super flavorful, but also very hearty. We also got 2 cocktails - arugula martini which was quite unique and food based and refreshing (perfect pairing for the linguine dish) and the maple bourbon rosemary which was good but didn't have an apparent rosemary flavor to it. Service could be improved a bit as water refills take a while and there are periods of service gaps where no one was looking at the outdoor seating area if there's anyone that needs to flag someone down for anything. The best restaurant on the island! The service, the food, the vibes, the owners--all completely wonderful. And the view from inside and the outside deck is gorgeous--right over the water and often with a great sunset to boot. Friendly and kind wait staff. They are super accommodating to allergies, gluten and dairy for me. I love their jalapeño poppers, burger with a gf bun, and filet. Everything is absolutely delicious. My family loves the crab cakes, poke bowl, shrimp and rice, and burrito. My toddler adored the butter noodles with grilled chicken. They also had coloring pages for the kids and other kid friendly items! Also--get the La Tourista. Probably one of my favorite cocktails ever. You will be glad you did! read more

We rented out the entire venue for a wedding dinner. Mariah told us not to worry that she would deliver us an experience and boy did she! The food and appetizers were absolutely wonderful. Service was great and friendly. Our family and friends all raved about the ambience, environment and the overall experience. We've been here several times and enjoyed it each time. The last time I was at Haven was a little over 3 years ago... And that is only because this place is literally never open. We come to Lopez so often and constantly look to see if it's open and it never is- although yesterday they had a sign up that said "closed for private event" and there were 8 people on the patio. Incredible party last night hosted by Haven for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary! Mariah and JK put together a truly memorable menu - especially the panko-crusted miso ginger halibut which was so delicious. Ooh and the oysters to start? And the dark chocolate gateau - oof so delicious. Also the cocktails! I loved my spicy mezcalita but if I had known how tasty the arugula martinis were! I might have made a different choice! We had a nice meal & great service. We were seated promptly (had reservations). The food came out in a timely manner. I had the steamer clams and the chicken with mushrooms pasta dish. The steamers came out and for a "pound", we got about 20 clams which made each tiny bite over $1 each. Disappointing. The chicken dish was tasty, though underseasoned . The dessert special of the evening was a rhubarb galette. The crust was nice, but I had a hard time finding the rhubarb. Overall, we had a lovely meal, but each dish I had lacked in some way. Poor experience. We had a reservation here (you had to put a deposit down for each person in order to make a reservation) directly after my engagement and when we arrived nothing was ready. We had to wait awhile for the table and even once that was ready there was no champagne waiting for us as my fiancé had requested since this was supposed to be the celebration. After ordering the food it took a very long time to come out and the chicken was dry. Once they brought our food they did not come back to check on us for a very long time. We completed our meal, paid and were leaving when they stopped us on the way out and let us know they had forgotten to charge us for more items so we had to wait while they re did our bill. Overall a bad experience for a dinner that was supposed to complete one of the most special nights of our lives. I would not recommend. read more

We had the most incredible meal from Haven during our short trip to Lopez! They're currently open for takeout only on select days. Order early! We ordered around 4:30 or so and weren't able to pick up until around 7:45ish. This place is definitely worth giving some extra forethought to! In non-covid times, it looks like they have incredible views from their dining room, which we hope to enjoy sometime in the future. Instead, we took our food to the park across the street so we could eat and watch the sunset. We got the Gamboni Linguine and The Mushroom pizza to share. Both were incredible and loaded with flavor! We were in culinary heaven. To drink, I got the spicy mezcalita (I've been loving a spicy marg lately and this one did not disappoint) and my husband got the maple rosemary bourbon sour, which he also enjoyed. We ate and drank every last bite/sip despite how full we were because of how ridiculously delicious it was. Yum! I love that Lopez is home to this gem. We can't wait to come back one day. read more

I made our reservation on-line and it was easy. Hub and I got there 10 minutes before 7 so we can take pictures of the view. It is right next to the water where you can witness the sunset. We were kindly seated by a window. That was thoughtful. I like that. Hub ordered the Bloody Mary and I ordered a glass of a Rose' The menus is pretty simple-- 4 course meal if you like that but we chose to have just the two for each. We couldn't eat that much for dinner. He ordered the wedge salad and I had the mushrooms with toasts. Then I chose the linguine with prawns smothered with cheese and wine and so on while he opted for the extravagant lamb dish. All were delicious and satisfying. They also gave us some complimentary bread right just before our dinner came. It was nice but again, we couldn't finish all. The whole experience was enjoyable and I recommend if and when you visit the Lopez island. Another good memory in my book. read more

Friends brought us here for dinner during our trip out to Lopez. Reservations appear necessary, at least for a busy summer weekend. The restaurant is right on the water with unobstructed views, so a great spot to take in the sunset. We opted for a patio seat and were sheltered enough that we didn't feel cold after the sun went down. That and maybe the drinks helped a bit... Spicy mezcalita was top notch and really packed some heat. J. and I shared the spicy fried cauliflower wings (absolutely delicious), the beet and goat cheese salad (comprised mainly of mixed greens, we found it sorely lacking in both its namesakes), and the Goat pizza (white sauce, mozzarella, pecorino romano, parmesan, roasted garlic and shallots, artichoke hearts, caramelized onions, kalamata olives, goat cheese -- absolutely delicious thin crust pizza). Service was fine. We'd definitely come back here. read more

So glad we made the reservations to get a seat at Haven. The setting is really nice on the west side of Lopez looking across San Juan Channel. We had the Burrata appetizer followed by salads and our entre's of the Pasta Bolognese and the Gamberoni Linguine were very tasty. I am having a hard time writing this review, because although the food was great and the wait staff did OK, we were treated so poorly by the hostess the night was a disappointment. We had reservations for two outside and were led to our table that was in a weird corner and was in the direct sun. My wife asked if it was possible to sit at another seat that was in the shade. The hostess said yes, but told us (with tone) that we would have to wait which we were fine with. We returned to the front where we waited and were seated at a table under an umbrella that did not work so we sat at the other table that didn't have some shade. Now for the good stuff: What an amazing view! The Beet & Goat Cheese salad which was excellent. It was mostly mixed greens with diced beets & goat cheese. The baja fish tacos were delicious, with lightly battered cod. I was only sad that I hadn't noticed the option to add-on chips & salsa and the black beans came in a separate bowl that looked and tasted like they had been plated earlier in the day. The cedar plank salmon was good, a little over done. The salmon had a great smokey flavor from the cedar plank! For next time I would get a reservation for the inside seating and it probably would have been an amazing night. read more

The daily soup was delish and I had what I think was the best fettuccine of my life. Everything was cooked to perfection...the chicken, mushrooms, pasta and the sauce was the stuff of dreams. Pasta dish perfection. Seriously. Wow. The creme brulee was only ok, probably wouldn't order it again, but who cares?! Next time I sick with a glass of wine and the fettuccine. The only downside is some of the tables and chairs on the patio are super sketchy and not very sturdy. read more

I ate here twice while on Lopez Island for our honeymoon. There really aren't many restaurants on Lopez Island. Finding a vegetarian friendly restaurant is even more difficult. The marge pizza is great and the cauliflower wings were really special. I found the service to be really good both days, even though they seemed like they were short staffed. The restaurant is beautiful. Make a reservation far in advance and get a table and watch the sunset. They have a nice beer and wine list. read more

Pretty disappointed with our meal last night. Only three choices for entrees. We couldn't ordered from the bar menu which would have been nice. It took close to 35 minutes to get out first course. Then it took an hour to get our entrees. All the steaks our party ordered were over cooked. One pasta dish that was ordered was loaded with salami even though it was supposed to be without salami. They did comp the pasta dinner. On a positive note, the wedge salad was delicious, the potatoes were fantastic and the bar fight was entertaining. The staff handled the incident without creating more of scene. read more

Spectacular takeout experience! We ordered online while sitting at Brewvana having beers, then moseyed over from there to the Haven takeout pickup, which has a love view of the water while you wait. We ordered the cauliflower wings, which are served buffalo style with bleu cheese dip that included real bleu cheese crumbles! We each had a Dungeness crab cake, which were LOADED with crab and not overly seasoned or crammed with fillers, so you could actually taste the crab. These were served on a bed of fresh greens and topped with a red pepper jelly that was the perfect touch. The hubs had a Fancypants burger, which he said took the common ingredients of grass-fed ground beef, arugula, gorgonzola crumbles, and caramelized onions and made them into something extra special. No one ingredient overpowered the others, but rather balanced and complimented each other for an amazing whole. Highly recommend. read more

Haven has always been a "must do" for us after many years of coming to Lopez. A lovely dinner in November 2022 reminds us of basking in the sun on the deck years ago, or the take out during COVID and being happy to enjoy a revamped menus when we couldn't dine in. No matter the year or season, we have always prioritized a meal at Haven. The food? Delicious, plentiful, and always makes us wanting more. The drinks? Phenomenal! An entertaining wine list and cocktails that we want to recreate at home. The hosts? Mariah and her team make sure the welcome and hospitality are at the same level as the food = top notch. You would be remiss if you don't include an evening sampling Haven's tasty offerings when you are on Lopez. Simply fantastic! read more

We were defintiely expecting more based on my fellow Yelper reviews. We had dinner on the weekend. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a great location, especially during sunset hours. We were one of the first to arrive when the restaurant opened for dinner, which made it very surprising that it took so long to get a drink order in. The wait staff were acting as bartenders, so it definitely made for a long wait time to get in our order. We ordered mostly seafood dishes. The oysters in the half shell were good, but it would have been nice if they hadn't been sprinkled with seasoning. The scallops were delish, but the cost was $33 for 3 scallops. Seemed a bit steep. The shrimp special was good, but wasn't a good balance of flavors and definitely not worth $30. There is great potential, so we will give them another try. read more

The food was pretty good, but they were out of the first six things I had ordered...They are NOT baby friendly, and the hostess even seemed disgusted that we brought a baby. Service was terrible. Who ever is in charge of wine does not know much about wine, despite living in Washington State... but, again, the food was pretty good in the end, as were the cocktails. Absolutely love Haven from the food to the drinks to the space! The views of the sound are gorgeous. My group of four ordered half a dozen Oysters to start with which were super fresh & delicious. I had the Baja Fish Tacos while my friends had the Crab Cakes, Halibut special & Scallops. The tacos were so pretty & delicious. The Mahi Mahi was lightly fried & added a perfect crispiness.
