We stopped in to find friendly faces in a chill coffeehouse vibe. Francesca the owner was warm and inviting. We also met Eric, the manager who was cool and welcoming as well. We happened to stop in when they were filming a segment for Laugh SF with comedian Larry Beyah, who is hilarious and so fun (ig handle @heishysterical). The space is unique and huge with lots of colorful and eclectic art. The owner emphasized their support for the art community, including Music, dance, comedy! We will be back along with friends and hope to have a Community dance class there! Susan and Kerry aka the Funky Bees

I went to see a show " Italiani Veri "  last night. Fabulous cabaret-type show with performer Arianna. She's a true (veri) Italian from Milan who sang, danced and explained Italian culture as part of the entertainment. She has an amazing voice! She could have been a finalist at the San Remo Music Festival - the most famous singing festival in Italy. She fessed up saying she had been an Italian Mouseketeer! The venue has a bar/lounge to enjoy cocktails then a few steps down further is the theater. You need to be mobile since there are a lot of steps. Seating is first come-first serve. I have to admit that seating is quite tight. You are shoulder to shoulder with your neighbors. Get cozy folks. They typically have magic shows here! If you want to see a historic night club, this would be the venue to come to and enjoy a show. Italiani Veri show was a real treat! Highly recommend it!

Arrived at 5:30 and was surprised when I saw a small but decent amount of folks here. When I approached the bar and got my first drink, I understood why folks were there so early....the drinks were a buck! Such a steal and great way to get folks in. The concept of battle of the decades is great too! Each hour is a different decade of music, starting with the 60's. I spent a few hours dancing from 60's-80's music until about 8pm (perfect for an old millennial like me) until the place filled up. Totally great night at Monroe. Cheap drink specials, great music, and I was able to get in bed by 8:30pm. I'll definitely be back again.

If you are interested in reading authentic reviews for Monroe, I highly recommend sorting the Yelp…read morereviews by the lowest rating. The highest and newest reviews are rarely genuine, as Monroe employees actively try to bury honest negative feedback by offering customers a free entree in exchange for positive reviews. You can verify this by filtering the reviews to "newest first"; you will see multiple high reviews posted immediately after an honest, low rating is left. Also believe what's said about the bearded man at the door (Payam)... He is terrible and he is only nice if it'll benefit his club.

The place offers a good variety of food options and a solid selection of beers and cocktails. There's plenty of seating : bar stools, regular tables, and a few high-tops. The band that night was superb. They played lots of classics, and one of my favorites was "Valerie." I got a cranberry vodka, a bit watered down for my taste, but overall not a big deal. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something fun and easygoing to do in the area.

Right when we walked in, I went to the bar. I asked the bartender if they had Modelo. He said no, so I asked what beers they did have. In my experience, bartenders usually recommend a couple of popular options. Instead, he just pointed to the beer list behind him. I wasn't wearing my glasses or contacts, so I nervously laughed and said " oh sorry i can't read that " His response caught me completely off guard, "Want me to read it for you? Ask your man standing right next to you to do it," while pointing at my boyfriend. The attitude and comment felt unnecessary and rude. I was simply asking for a recommendation, and I've never had a bartender speak to me that way. It was in such an odd tone. The interaction instantly made me feel uncomfortable. We stayed just long enough to finish our beers and listen to the band for a few minutes before leaving. Honestly, I didn't even want to spend money there after that interaction, but I felt awkward enough that I just wanted to leave without causing a scene. After reading other reviews, it seems we're not the only people who've had a negative experience with the bartender. It's a shame because the live music was enjoyable, but based on the service alone, I wouldn't recommend this place. Not worth it.

I had visited once last year for St. Patrick's day and had a lovely time. This time, I left before I even ordered a drink. This bar offers live music which drew an insanely large crowd. They definitely let far too many people into the building. We were tightly packed in there like a bunch of sardines. We finally pushed our way to the bar (which we thought was a tad emptier) in the back. Unfortunately we were wrong. We waited at the bar for about 10 minutes waiting for the bartender to get to us. We believed the bartender was extremely drunk. He was slurring his words and dropping things on the underbar. He completely ignored us (or was too drunk to even realize we were there). Eventually we got fed up and just left. As we were on our way out, the bartender literally waved goodbye to us! Although I would give them bonus points for having The Rookie playing on the TVs, this was all around a bizarre experience and I am not as inclined to revisit.

There was no attempt to communicate or de-escalate, just immediate physical intervention. Regardless of the reason for denying entry, there is no justification for unnecessary physical contact, especially in the absence of any threatening behavior. Situations like this reflect poorly on staff training and raise legitimate concerns about patron safety. I would strongly encourage management to review their security protocols and ensure staff are trained to handle situations professionally and without unnecessary force.
