The tater tots were good but this is symbolic of the overall experience - it's basically dive-bar quality dressed up as a fancy wine bar. Beyond that, the price of the wines are outrageous. He became the first American to live off of intellectual property income.

Stevenson's "wine is bottled poetry" quote is a common sight in the Napa Valley, yet this museum is small... and relatively uncrowded. Quotes from Stevenson adorn the walls, along with a pirate mannequin and a treasure chest for the Treasure Island display, as well as the toy soldiers who inspired him in "Children's Garden of Verses." Stevenson's adventures in California&Samoa are described&depicted with artifacts. Stevenson didn't confine his quests to his swashbuckling novels. Much is devoted to his romance with Fanny Osbourne, his wife, and their eventual honeymoon in the Napa Valley. For many people, their introductions to Stevenson are his poetry, or movies based on his novels (like Disney's 1960 version of "Kidnapped" with its dueling bagpipes&Rob Roy's son) This museum shows Stevenson's human side. Fascinating and insightful.

The tour itself was beautiful and informative, but our guide talked way too much at times, which made the experience feel a bit drawn out. There also seemed to be some noticeable favoritism toward guests who came from Toronto, which was a little odd and made the tour feel less welcoming for everyone else. That said, Inglenook itself is absolutely beautiful. We really enjoyed the little café and the museum, which reminded us of the experience at Francis Coppola Winery. The property alone is worth visiting and makes for a lovely setting. One other thing that stood out to us was the late-arrival policy. The website specifically states that guests cannot be late or they won't be able to join the tour. However, people who arrived more than 15 minutes late were still allowed to join our tour. We have no issue with accommodating late guests, but if that's the actual policy being followed, it would be better to update the website so guests aren't unnecessarily stressed about arriving on time. As for the wine... I'm still not a fan of red wine. We did, however, find some white wines we really enjoyed and ended up purchasing a few bottles to take home. Overall, Inglenook is a gorgeous property with some nice touches, but our tour experience could have been much better. We've enjoyed other Coppola winery experiences more.

The wine they make you can only buy at the winery and most of it is good and a few bottles are really good. For the tasting you pick 5 from a much larger list and with all tastings at pretty much all wineries we have been to there are always extra splashes of a few other wines as well, typically with the verbage along the lines of, "This one was opened by accident so may as well pour it" or "The new guy thought it was on the list today", or "We just found these in the back and thought it would be a treat". Funny how the extra pours always seem to be on sale by the bottle, Today Only!!! Need to get that FOMO in. Speaking of by the bottle. After the tasting we grabbed a bottle of champs and headed over to the deli for a baguette, cheese and some grapes and onward to the grass. I was eyeballing some tasty looking prosciutto, salami and other assorted meat goodies but opted out since I would be the only one devouring them. Pro tip....if going to buy a bottle for an onsite bring your own wine glasses to avoid the small plastice tumblers. We usually carry double walled stemless aluminum champs and wine glasses with us if not for picknicking for use in hotel rooms and by the hot tub. We did walk in which was nice so if you need somewhere to do a last minute or unplanned tasting this is a great place!
