Do not discount this place because it's  a winery. If your in the Napa area the delicateasan here is worth the trip on its own. And if you like wine and picknicks under the trees it's a total win, win win. We have been here multiple times over the years. This was our first time actually doing a tasting. Andrea stuck with the rose's and white's and I stayed with the red's. Our host was Lucas and he did a fantastic job handling us and multiple patrons at the same time. I could never do this job even though I love wine and can be mediocrely knowledgeable about it to most tourist, but I don't like people and am not into idle chit chat to entertain the peeps. The wine they make you can only buy at the winery and most of it is good and a few bottles are really good. For the tasting you pick 5 from a much larger list and with all tastings at pretty much all wineries we have been to there are always extra splashes of a few other wines as well, typically with the verbage along the lines of, "This one was opened by accident so may as well pour it" or "The new guy thought it was on the list today", or "We just found these in the back and thought it would be a treat". Funny how the extra pours always seem to be on sale by the bottle, Today Only!!! Need to get that FOMO in. Speaking of by the bottle. After the tasting we grabbed a bottle of champs and headed over to the deli for a baguette, cheese and some grapes and onward to the grass. I was eyeballing some tasty looking prosciutto, salami and other assorted meat goodies but opted out since I would be the only one devouring them. Pro tip....if going to buy a bottle for an onsite bring your own wine glasses to avoid the small plastice tumblers. We usually carry double walled stemless aluminum champs and wine glasses with us if not for picknicking for use in hotel rooms and by the hot tub. I am so behind! We visited this great winery on Tuesday, July 14th this year. When we were looking for a winery that doesn't require reservations this one popped up and it had great reviews. There were five of us in our group and none of us had been wine tasting, ever and 3 of us are over 60. The grounds are beautiful and very clean! While we were paying for our package, we were informed that we would be given some extras like more red wines to taste that didn't count toward our 5 wines along with some handmade chocolates. While it was a little warm out, we decided that we wanted to sit outside as we knew our group could get loud. Thankfully, the patio area was lined with misters We were also thankful that Tuesdays aren't a super busy day! Adam was our sommelier, I had to look this up. Adam chatted with us a little to find out what each of us was looking forward to in our wines. I won't bore you with which wines we tried as they are all very good. While the usual time for group like ours should have taken about 60 minutes, we were there closer to 2 hours. Adam helped us with so many delicious wines, taking time to explain what this wine would pair well with, etc. Something that I discovered that I actually do like a good red wine. I guess the red wines that I tried years prior were not so good. We all ended up purchasing several bottles of the wines that we had tried. When we were leaving, there was a gift store with more of the delicious handmade chocolates that we had tried on the patio. There was only the two piece size available but Adam was able to speak with a manager getting as a great deal as the 5 piece box was available. He worked it out so I was able to purchase 3 boxes of the 2 pieces boxes for the same price as the 5 piece box. I had planned on giving these as gifts so it worked wonderfully for me. Awesome experience overall! Taking 1 star away because it was a bit too crowded but otherwise great. One of the most kid friendly wineries in town. You could either do a tasting or just grab a bottle of wine and sit in the lawn. There was also a food truck outside. Plenty of parking too. There's a full gift shop and grab-and-go food options. Ambiance was decent, although Raymond, Sterling and Castello di Amorosa are way better on ambience at a similar price for tasting. They did honor the priority wine pass and the check in was smooth. We are not new to this winery and my family and I quickly stopped here just to buy a case of wine so much so that hubby and I waited in the car while our fam members went inside to purchase. It was supposed to be quick! Tell me why it took longer than we thought and turned out that one of the staff (a really nice young man) was really helpful and helped my family members out and saw they had some new bottles they were trying out, and he was like have you tried it? and from there, they were given tastings of that wine and others, oh try this, try that one. lol. how could you say no? Needless to say, my family members left very happy and would've stayed longer trying the other wines, the kid was very kind, but we had a dinner reservation to get to! They were waiting for someone to come help them take the case to the car, however it was taking a bit (had a dinner reservation) so my family member just carried out the case herself. We had such a great experience at V. Sattui Winery! We visited on a HOT day and did our tasting outdoors, and the misters in the back made such a difference. It was the perfect setup to sit outside, relax, and enjoy the wine without melting in the Napa heat! Mario Sattui was absolutely amazing and really made our experience. He was welcoming, personable, knowledgeable, and made the tasting so much fun. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does and wants people to have a great experience. We also loved walking through the market inside -- there were SO many good things! Amazing cheeses, meats, snacks, and everything you could possibly want to put together for a picnic with your wine. Review #400! We have visited V Sattui several times over the years, and it was on our itinerary for our current Napa trip, primarily because we wanted to get lunch at their food market. V Sattui is rather unique among the region's wineries, for several reasons: they have a food market, they allow purchased bottles to be consumed on site, they allow picnicking, and they serve as a wedding venue. This is not easy to achieve in Napa's ridiculously restrictive permitting landscape. So first, let's talk about the food market, which is one of the main attractions of this place. The cheese shop alone is worth going out of your way for. Almost every type of cheese you can hope to find. Sorry to my idealistic vegan aspirations, but I don't think I'll be giving up cheese anytime soon. They have a deli with sandwiches, pastas and various side dishes, olives, fruits, etc. Come on an empty stomach and be ready to eat well. When we first arrived at the winery, we were welcomed in by the very nice host, who explained the tasting menu options, if we were interested in a tasting. About 13 wines to choose from, and you get to pick any 5, $45 per tasting. Love the flexibility. Lots of white and rose options, as opposed to many wineries which just pile on the reds. I like a good red, don't get me wrong, usually with a big dinner, but on a hot summer day, I want lighter, refreshing wines. So we were sold, and signed up for an indoor tasting before lunch. During the couple of years we've been away from Napa, the winery has completely rebuilt their tasting room and store, for both structural and cosmetic reasons. It looks fantastic now, featuring a very attractive, modern circular tasting bar. Would have taken pics, but I try to avoid posting pictures of strangers on the internet, and the tasting room was filled with people. We grabbed a seat at the bar, and were greeted by our tasting guide, Lucas. Lucas was amazing. Personable, hospitable, and engaging. He made us feel welcome, got to know us, and ensured we had a great time throughout, even though he was serving multiple other customers at the same time. I could never do his job. I selected all white and rose wines, and RB went with mostly red. My favorites were the off-dry Riesling, and the Sauvignon Blanc. RB's Preston Vineyards cab was also very good, but again, I would need a hearty meal to consume this with. Lucas also treated us to a couple of complimentary pours, and the Madeira was an especially nice treat. We finished up our tasting, bid au revoir to Lucas, and made our way to the deli for lunch. We were hungry and decided to keep it simple with the essentials - cheese (of course), sweet baguette, and grapes. So many enticing cheeses to choose from, but you can't go wrong with French Brie and medium cheddar, so that's what we opted for. As for the beverage selection, RB's and my wine palates do not always align, but we can usually agree on bubbles, so that's what we did. Armed with a bottle of Brut cuvée and the aforementioned goodies, we made our way out to the picnic area. It's lovely out there. Many picnic tables, in the shade or in the sun, or you can picnic on the grass. We found a shaded table in the breeze overlooking Route 29, and settled in for our leisurely lunch. We came in on a Monday around 2:50pm for our 3pm scheduled wine cellar members tasting. The hostess at the first check in station was really nice. Today our sommelier was Adam. He was very matter of fact, but he did check on an expired sale promo for us. Really missed seeing Janet today ) This is always a nice chill tasting. This place is a zoo and very chaotic. Not customer friendly at all. We booked and paid for a tour and tasting and this was our first trip to Napa. We missed our check in time by 30 mins and the team was not accommodating. The tasting was not worth the price since we had a big group and had to find our own seating. We were given a ticket upon check in and when we entered the main store area for the tasting, it was hard to find an employee to direct us where to go or what to do next. One employee told us "Good luck finding seats for your large group". He ended up being our server and had a totally attitude the whole time telling me to "relax"! Very disappointing service and experience and would not recommend it for large groups (over 2 people) and especially if you have a disability. No assistance was provided for our ambulatory friend. Great to see how busy the store and location is. The castle looking decor is cool with a nice picnic area and pretty grounds. Too bad the service put a damper on the whole experience. I stopped by this Winery after a day of wine tasting and enjoying lunch in the area. I always love visiting this winery. I love the outdoor seating. Lots of shade. It was busy, but parking is OK. We found parking towards the back. Love the variety of cheeses, wine, & deli sandwiches & sides. They have dessert too. I wanted to try their Panna cotta, but I came late in the day and it was sold out. There are signs that say no outside food. Staff were friendly. I'll be back here soon again. I might describe this place as a wine compound. There's a vineyard and there's a really large shop/marketplace. There's also lots of space on the grounds for eating and just general sightseeing. The people are friendly and this place is well organized. I didn't actually drink the wine here. I was about to drive over an hour with my parents in the car, but they were really excited for me to see this place. They're a big fans and they wanted to grab some items from the store as well. Inside that store, there are a few stations where you could drink their wines and possibly beverages from other vineyards or producers. You can buy a lot of wine related items and stuff to eat here as well. Aesthetic alone on this place is amazing. Just a really fun place to visit when you're in Napa Valley. read more

A beautiful winery that offers different experiences and gorgeous views. We made a reservation for the premier tasting in the patio which was shaded. Mario and Frida had incredible knowledge of the wines and made us feel at home. The list had a lot of options to pick from so we would tell them what kind of wine we liked and they gave us recommendations. My favorite was the 2022 Preston Cabernet Sauvignon for its dry but velvety full body taste. We also enjoyed the 2024 Gamay Rouge rosé for its sweetness but light tartness from the cranberries. We ended up purchasing bottles of both to take home. Our DD got to enjoy two different types grape juices that were both good. Half way through the tasting we ordered a charcuterie board to accompany our tasting and everything was delicious. Mario made the ordering experience seamless. There is also a marketplace with wine bottles, snacks, a deli, kitchen wear, wine bar needs, and souvenirs. There is a picnic area where people can enjoy what they purchased. V. Came in today solo for a quick Tuesday tasting. I had the best experience of wine but also two wonderfully helpful men; Brian and Dorian. They both had incredible recommendations, great information on the different wines and had great hospitality. I can truly say, I've never been treated so well and like family at any other winery out here. The grounds are beautiful of lush greenery, fountains, vines and buildings. It's beautiful here. Sattui can fit the vibes of upscale and also casual. It's the best blend. I tried a few wonderful tastings and grabbed a glass of the Pinot Noir, it was hands down the best I've ever had. We have visited V Sattui many times before as a group, but went this past Fourth of July weekend after a wine tasting to grab some lunch and have a picnic. They've renovated their market, and it's gorgeous inside. There are many things to choose between from cheeses, crackers, pastas, chocolates, and wine of course. Please note you have to buy from the market in order to picnic there, and the items are slightly pricey. There are also food trucks outside, but I believe only on weekends. We tried a pizza and sandwich, and later on gelato. They have beautiful grounds that make this such a beautiful experience. Highly recommend for a summer activity! read more

5 Stars all day. Booked an outdoor picnic experience but since we got rained in, they had a nice little table for us downstairs in the cellar with the oak barrels. Ash was great in getting our wine out to us, and we did upgrade to the cabernet flights ($45 upgrade) of which the Preston was the crowd faves of the premium reds (All $100+ per bottle). My favorite part of this place is the HUGE marketplace that has gourmet sandwiches, salads, pasta salads, tons of charcuterie boards, a CHEEESE section, and tons of samples all around. It was busy but lines moved along and there was so much to see. We lost track of time since we were enjoying our tasting so much. We had another tasting to go to so didn't get to spend much time browsing but we did enjoy their Focaccia Club Sandwiches (which they can cut in half), their olive-y potato salad, caprese salad, and their crisp and light Churro Cookies. Went to the wine bar and the worker there named Ed was friendly and let me taste a Muscat, moscato, and a late harvest riesling. I haven't tried a late harvest riesling before. Unfortunately for us it was raining, so our outdoor tasting and picnic idea turned into an intro tasting in their barrel room followed by a quick snack to go from the market. Was a bit bummed we couldn't bring food we would have purchased from the market into the barrel room to enjoy during our time there, only charcuterie was permitted I guess. Ash our server was attentive and knowledgable on the wines. Standouts were definitely the more premium cabs. I recently came back from a 4-day stay in Napa with the family and this was the first winery we visited. They accept children and pets which is why we visited it first. The entry to the winery is very cozy with a beautiful fountain, lots of greenery and the architecture is divine. A third of our group of six bought sandwiches at the large marketplace and sat in the picnic area while the rest of us sat out back by the garden and ordered charcuterie board and wine-tasted. They later joined us to wine-taste. Our French server was hospitable, informative and helpful. He explained the wine list in detail and told us the story behind the winery. An outing of wine tastings was on our agenda. We walked into V Sattui Winery for snacks and a break from the drive. It was a glorious decision because even though I wasn't very hungry, I couldn't resist. We were there early Sunday morning and there was no one in the store. I felt like a kid in the Wonka Factory. There were samples and something for everyone. There were more than 200 cheeses on display, cured meats, cold salads, hot sandwiches, various dips, many chips, and a lot of wine...oh my! I opted for a caprese panini, seafood salad, and truffle chips. The sandwich was made to order immediately. Sadly, the portobello sandwich was not available or the crab cakes...bummer. The sandwich came out hot and oozing for an epic cheese pull. Holy cannoli, they had many dessert options as well. I left happy and ready for an epic day of wine tastings. V. sattui is a nice relaxed, family friendly winery. It's also of the more affordable ones in my opinion. I liked stopping by here to relax and enjoy some sunshine. We booked online for a tasting in the grove area (shaded outside area). I think it was around 55 for a tasting, and you get to try out 5 wines. They're really known for their whites. I particularly enjoyed the Gamay Rouge. It's a sweeter rose but the flavor was pleasant. The service was friendly but they seem so busy they don't really get to chat with you about the different wines. The market area is really beautiful. I think next time I would wanna do a tasting inside the market place at the bar area. The also have a grassy area where you can do a picnic from the goodies at the marketplace. Last year they were starting their construction makeover! Moving things and blocking things off. Fast forward, looks like they are one hundred percent done. A few things to tidy up. The outside had a fresh look. They kind of made it look like the sister winery with that castle facade look. Looks good! The interior was a total makeover! It looks AMAZING!!! One giant open look. High beams! It used to have sections. The eatery area where you ordered food was small before. Now, they really made it look like a very high end gourmet shop. Well, it is. Words cannot describe how great it looks. There is aisle of gourmet cheeses, jams, chocolates, fusion olive oil, wines, gifts, and much more!!! Overall, a FANTASTIC place!! Our group stopped in at V.Sattui Winery as part of the Napa Valley Wine Train Experience. We have been to the winery to grab grocery items before as they have a large market and picnic area, but have never tasted their wine so we looked forward to a new experience. They sat our group outdoors, it was chilly but they did provide space heaters so it was comfortable. Our host Jacob made our experience fun as he walked us through the wine tasting. While the wines were not my favorite, the overall experience was enjoyable. Jacob then led us indoors to their newly remodeled market. It was huge. Plenty of options should you wish to grab and go or sit outside in the picnic area. Of course there are plenty of gift options as well. So, in celebrating my birthday week, I decided to spoil myself with a fine dining food and wine paring treat. I am a member of V Sattui for several years, but never had the pleasure to experience the wine and food pairing. It was soooooooooo DELICIOUS. Chef Jeffrey Lloyd presented each dish and explained the ingredients. The Ahi Two Way with a delicious Carpaccio and a scrmptuous Tartare. It was paired with a 2025 Los Carneros Chenin Blanc and a 2024 Mt. Veeder Dry Riesling, which is one of my favorites for white wine. I was then pleasantly surprised with the Asparagus Soup. Who knew? When I say it was good, I wanted to lick the bowl and ask for more, and I don't even like Asparagus. The thought of consuming the poached quail egg made me feel some type of way. It may have been my first time, but it won't be my last time. DELICIOUS. The soup was paired with a 2023 Los Caneros Chardonnay and an aromatic 2021 Grenache. The best was definitely saved for last. The entre was swine on swine but it was not a crime, it was DEVINE. Prosciutto Wrapped Pork Tenderloin. This was so tender and juicy that it melted in my mouth.( I felt like Homer Simpson.) This was paired with a to die for 2022 Collina D'Oro Pinot Noir and my favorite 2022 Vittorio's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. They just remodeled the main building where the deli is and, let me tell you, it is amazingly beautiful! We were sad to see the huge tree in the courtyard gone but it is what it is, the olive trees are pretty. We visited VS winery the year before it closed to remodel and returned to see the result. It's really nice with a huge food-grocery section of items perfect for a lunch at their picnic tables outside. It made the place feel more open. We bought a panini sandwich and $9 bag of Torres brand, egg flavored potato chip imported from Spain. Both were delicious. There's a huge cheese section and it made me want to try so many. . The cashiers at the wine purchasing area were not so helpful but the wine guy was really nice and gave me suggestions on how to store the bottle of Cab I bought which I plan to hold onto for awhile. Aging will diminish the tannins in the bottle, he said. Their bags and boxes might need to be fortified. I saw a woman with a box of 4 bottles where the box started to fall apart on her. The bag I had for the $60 bottle I bought didn't feel that secure so I cradled it with both hands as we left. Prices have clearly gone up for the wines. Hope to be back. read more

Always a great time at this humble winery. Their sommeliers are awesome to talk to. Whether you have millions or a handful of bills in your pocket, they treat everyone alike. Service is an A+ here. They just expanded 40 feet longer and 25 feet wider (going on memory) for a more open space look. I love the food options as well. There is a cheese shop, a deli, and easy to grab-n-go options. They also have chilled beverages if you want to enjoy their picnic area where you will find a barbecue food truck. We opted to crack open a chilled sparkling wine and grab some food. My wife's chicken pesto sandwich was fantastic! I had to steal a bite! I shared a smash burger (that was recommended by the cashier at the food truck who took our order) and a tri-tip sandwich. I would grade the barbecue place as a decent B- BUT the pesto chicken from V Sattui's deli gets a solid A. When I moved to San Francisco, my sister had only one request for her Northern California visit: "We have to go to V. Sattui!" ("What's a V. Sattui?" I innocently asked, lol) We went, we swirled, we sipped and fell in love with their truly lovely Gamay Rouge. I'd visited V. Sattui many times in between my first visit with Heather and now. I joined their VIP list - or my boyfriend did - he liked going to Napa every couple of months. Losing Heather 5 years ago is so heavy lately; she and I were very much alike and finished each other's sentences then fell into a gale of giggles. Her birthday is coming up October 7. She'd triumphantly assert we were the same age for 1 month. Finn and I stopped at V. Sattui on our way back to the city to send wine to my mom and my late sister's husband, leaning heavily into those cases with my sister's favorite, Gamay Rouge. Go to V. Sattui for a tasting and don't miss some of their incredible reds and the light, summery Gamay Rouge that tastes faintly of strawberries. They just remodeled their tasting room which is three times larger and beautifully laid out with an expanded gourmet food section. Service was impeccable. You can only buy V. Sattui wine at the winery in St. Helena. It's worth the trip. read more

I've been to V sattui twice now with two different groups of friends for the indoor tasting experience, and both were excellent! Our sommelier was Justin for both visits, and he's a great person - you'll definitely have an amazing time. I'm not actually a huge wine person, but the wines at V Sattui are very approachable and I found multiple that I enjoyed enough to buy a couple bottles of. Compared to some of the other wineries in the area, V Sattui is relatively affordable and approachable. The new space is open, warm and welcoming, and the grounds are beautiful and nice to relax in after your tasting. There were also many other groups who enjoyed the cheese, wines, breads and many other goods that they sell here outside in the picnic area. V Sattui is an excellent winery with amazing service, and I highly recommend coming here! read more

We stopped at V Sattui on our way out of town for lunch and wine tasting. I had read online somewhere that they had a "new market to rival Eataly" so I wanted to check it out. Meh, I've been to Eataly in a few different cities, and this is no Eataly! We didn't make reservations ahead of time for the wine tasting, but it was easy enough to do so when you walked in the gate. They have options to either taste inside or outside. The concierge was pretty helpful too about timing, since we mentioned we needed to eat something before wine tasting. When you walk in, you can see that they have a large deli area and a cheese counter, plus there are a lot of shelves of products. One thing I did like is that they have a lot of samples out so you don't get stuck buying a $10 jar of mustard you don't like. The deli even had samples of a couple of the pasta salads, and the cheesemonger would let you try the various cheeses. We got a couple of sandwiches and ate at the picnic area outside. Their picnic area is lovely and comfortable. They did have the bbq truck outside, but the prepared sandwiches looked good. I do think they should have single-serving bags of chips - all the bags were in family sizes. I also grabbed one of the pre-made side salads, and it was really good and fresh. I felt like the price for grabbing a lunch was on the average-to-expensive side for something that is prepared ahead of time. Then I looked at how much the prepared cheese plate was, and it was about $50, and I felt like my lunch wasn't that expensive! Our wine tasting was fine. I did feel like the person helping us was either a bit new or clueless, since he often would just be standing around talking when we were ready for another sample, or he would only serve one of us then walk away since we were doing different tastings. Maybe I was spoiled with other wine tasting experiences this weekend with having people who were super knowledgeable and on the ball. Telling him that my friend didn't like reds, then he gets ready to give her some pinot noir, for instance, shows he wasn't really listening. They did have a good selection of wines to try and there were some that were really surprising, like the Gamay Rouge. I liked the Semillion a lot, and loved the Madeira I had at the end. I probably would have gone up to four stars if I had though our wine-tasting helper was better! read more

Whenever we're in Napa Valley with out-of-town guests, V. Sattui Winery is always one of our go-to stops. It's perfect for lunch or a picnic, with a wide variety of food to pair with your wine. They're also very family- and kid-friendly. We once enjoyed an outdoor tasting in one of their shaded garden areas overlooking the vineyards, and unlike some wineries, they welcomed having kids seated with us. Visited V Sattui today on a Tuesday afternoon & it was lovely. No crowds and had the best server Brian. My boyfriend and I booked a wine tasting for our 2 year anniversary and it was the best choice we made. All the wine choices were delicious and caught a good buzz and Brian was very helpful with helping us with what we were steering towards. This winery is family friendly and has a market attached with yummy deli foods, spices, cheeses, and souvenir's. It was definitely a beautiful winery great for events and weddings. Looking for a kid and family place in Napa?? Well this is the right place!! There are NOT many places in Napa that are child and family friendly, but this place is definitely one of them! It is nestled off the main road to Napa and there is a pretty generous parking lot for parking. What's great about it is you don't need to reserve or book a wine tasting event here! They do have tasting available indoors and outdoors but you can't eat while you do the tasting. So that's something to keep in mind. I didn't taste their wine as I was with my kids so I can't say how it is. However we did have lunch here! You can just show up and go have a picnic outside. They have a nice big lot with picnic tables and also local food trucks on the weekends that are pretty great! They also just recently opened up a lovely indoor marketplace run by a French chef. You can go and buy anything you need to have a nice picnic outside! We got sandwiches for the kids, fruit, and they have also an enormous selection of wine and you can go drink wine outside too (we didn't but we saw many people that did!) It's super family friendly, the kids can run around while you basque in the sun and enjoy a new meal. A few things to note: - bring a water bottle! They have water that you can purchase but it comes in small cans and it goes fast especially if it's hot! -the marketplace provides napkins, cups and utensils just NOT plates. They do have some paper plates for purchase the come in a set for a few dollars. - the marketplace has literally 200 type of cheeses!!! I didn't get to try any aside from the samples but that's one thing the are known for is their incredible wide selection of cheese! -being a cooler! If you want to bring things back home bring a cooler with ice so that it can stay cold especially for non perishable items like cheese or meats. - they have a nice selection of desserts too. My kids chose these local gummy bears (one was shaped like a Barbie!) and they loved those Just keep in mind it is a bit touristy but not as much as other places like the Castle vineyard Castello. I wouldn't personally go for the chocolate but definitely for the food truck food, sandwiches and the cheese!! read more
