I was grateful to find a facility to get her into quickly. The staff was nice enough and the residents were what one normally sees at a convalescent home, confused and in pain. My mom was no different. She died 8 days after being placed in the home. Since she had been there only 8 days, we were due a refund of about 1/3 of what we paid to get her into the place. My mom was poor and caring for her all year was an emotional and financial burden on me; I could really have used that money, especially with the cremation still to come. I reached out to the facility to get the $1000 they owed. The staff gave me a number that goes straight to an anonymous voicemail. No body will call me back. I sent a letter and it was returned saying no body was there to receive it. My aunt stopped by, only to be told the staff didn't know anything about it and to call the same, dead end phone number they gave me. As a bereaving daughter, I would have appreciated some integrity and grace from someone in charge.

Looking for a place for family can be stressful, but we left the tour feeling really good about Brentwood and especially the therapy program. When the hospice provider was taking care of her in her apartment, suggested Brentwood on sunset, they suggested it mainly because of Sam. They told me that not only was the facility lovely, but that Sam was so invested in the care he provided for every person. He personally is involved with all his clients, and knows them well. The amount of care that he took and answering all of my questions and reassuring all of my concerns prior to placing my Mother at the facility reinforced everything that Hospice had told me. My mother is not an easy woman to deal with. She's very picky, and opinionated. Sam went out of his way to make sure that her needs are met, even down to making sure that her favorite foods and snacks are on hand for her. He is very involved in the medical care that she receives, and I trust him implicitly, but he always differs to me and involves me in care decisions. He is friendly, forthcoming, and honest. The staff are very caring. The facility is small enough that the caregivers know everyone staying there and it is definitely a Homie environment. My mom has all of her personal items with her that she needs and Sam help coordinate this. He is my eyes and ears for the medical providers and the hospice caregivers, alerting me when there are issues, or if my mom is having a bad or even good day. He frequently sends me messages and videos about her care. Of course I did my due diligence and Red up on the facility before placing my mom there and the reports are stellar. I cannot say enough good things about Sam, his staff, and the facility. It is a huge relief to know that my mother is being cared for in such a clean, caring, and home environment. It was 5 months after discharge for all the insurance claims to be properly submitted (two claims needed to be resubmitted multiple times) and our refund processed. Paradigm did require an amount equal to our Annual Max Out of Pocket up front since the stay included January 1. The care our child received was good. We felt they were safe and well cared for. If the child is willing to do the work, the program can be helpful.
