The grounds of venue - gorgeous, the owner and her entire family/team - most amazing people you can find, decor and supplies - everything we wanted and needed, overall experience - exactly what you would expect when you think of a small piece of paradise/heaven! And this also includes the fact that our beloved pups were allowed to be on the grounds and partake in our special day! The owner of the venue, who was also our wedding coordinator, went above and beyond to help us arrange everything we needed to make it wedding perfect. Even going as far to come back on site for our rehearsal dinner during her own wedding anniversary! How many people would be willing to do that? Her passion for ensuring every couple out there sees their vision fulfilled is truly one that is undeniable and unique. We could not have pulled this off, let alone reduce our wedding planning stress significantly, without her help. My now wife, our current (and future pups) and myself now have found a place we don't just refer to as a hidden gem, but a small place we can call another home. We knew we needed a place for 150 people and we knew we wanted it to be drivable for both family and friends in upstate New York and Boston.   We stumbled upon The Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires after months of searching, but the only wedding we had seen hosted there was inside the main cottage. Reluctantly, we decided it was probably too small for us.   Fast forward another month.  Randomly one night, my wife and I both separately pulled up the venue again and I said, "We need to just call them. Maybe they have some grass we can put a tent on." After a couple of email exchanges, Eric, the owner, and Cory, the grounds keeper, invited us out to see the space and were instantly sold. The beautiful grounds, the stunning cottages (or as we like to call them, "mini mansions"), THE VIEW.   Not only did they have four cottages on site where guests could stay, but they also had a field where they had placed a tent for previous weddings that could hold up to 150 guests. We soon found out that over the winter months they would be adding three additional cottages for guests to stay and a seasonal tent to be used for weddings throughout the summer and fall. Needless to say, we booked it.   A couple months into planning, LHGC added a wedding coordinator to their awesome team.  We connected with Kelsey instantly, discussing plans we had made and things we had coming down the line. She was always available if we had a question or concern. Come time to do our walk through before the wedding, we laid out the entire day with the help of Kelsey and our caterer.  We walked away knowing we had the dream team on board.   When our weekend approached, all the new additions were complete and the space was more beautiful than ever. We had our rehearsal brunch Friday morning and welcome party Friday night, both of which allowed for the caterers to take full advantage of the catering kitchen in the main cottage. Kelsey and Cory were completely accommodating and there from start to finish to help with anything we needed.   Our guests arrived sporadically from Friday morning through the evening and spent time playing lawn games, kayaking and paddleboarding on the lake, and enjoying each other's company.  It was so nice to have the entire grounds at our disposal.   On our wedding day, it was just the same. Everything went off seamlessly. Kelsey and Cory were both there if something came up, made sure that set up was perfect, ran the ceremony and reception smoothly and effortlessly.   Our wedding was perfect. Guests couldn't stop talking about the cows, which ended up being such a unique and fun highlight for everyone. He met with the future couple several times, recommended his choices for catering and floral arrangements but also explained she could use anyone she wanted. She went with his suggestions and hired from his short list and all did great, no, fantastic jobs. The grounds themselves are stunning and pristine. This place is on three hundred acres and far enough from the road and neighbors that there is no concern about how loud you might get while celebrating. During the cocktail hour there were two corn hole games set up which a lot of us had fun trying out. The staff was really attentive and friendly. Everything went off without a hitch. I cannot say enough about the owner Ricky and the simple things he did to be one step above the rest. He had them leave one of their trucks there and had the staff pack up all the gifts and belongings of theirs so they could leave and continue the party without needing to worry about it. The next day when my wife and I took out new daughter back to pick up her truck, he showed up and spent time asking her if she was happy with how things went, and was just friendly and engaging with her, who, was ecstatic with the event and venue and just wanted to talk to him. He hung out and help us pack up the last few items too. His staff also climbed up the ladders into the rafters to take down the flower boxes she built so we did not have to go up there ourselves. All in all, our experience here was great. I have seen some of the photos that were taken and this location as the background was perfect. If you are looking for a venue you could not do any better. There are plenty of hotels withing a short driving distance and he mentioned to us he is planning to put in Glam camping tents as well as buying trailer homes so people could rent and stay right on the grounds. We arrived on Friday night and kicked things off with a barbecue on the terrace. Everything you need for an easy and fun cook up is on hand. Most of the group were new to BOTP and the Catskills and were in awe of both. The accommodations are more fabulous than they look in the already great photography on the website, and so comfortable. Everyone was happy and we spread out across the barn, airstream and cabin. I slept in the solarium with hubby. Now he wants us to upgrade to king size bed at home. Propped up on all the fluffy pillows and bolsters for my morning read surrounded by the verdant scenery was a balm for this New Yorker's psyche. Hubby also took an instant liking to one of the armchairs. This one room is so versatile. One of the writers in our group used the desk during the day. When you close the doors it is very very quiet. The couples in kitchen and master bedrooms respectively slept soundly, while the mezzanine crew were equally happy and at ease. The cabin peeps, a father and son, were thrilled to have their own separate digs and absolutely loved it. Two gal pals had the airstream and they too rested well . In short we were all in our happy place and were all able to really relax. Everything through out the property sings inspired human. As a group we felt so blessed and connected, free and flowing. When our Saturday morning attempt to leave and go swimming was thwarted by a deluge we just danced and practiced yoga in the rain. This was just happy sober. When the skies did clear in the afternoon some of us went swimming at a nearby lake, some went for a scenic drive and checked out a whiskey distillery and some just lounged. Barn on the Pond is amazing, a luxury immersion in nature, the service from the Team incredible, we will be back next year for another birthday and to host a meditation retreat.
