We had a lovely suite on the second floor overlooking the main drag of town. Everything about this place was classy. The front door opens up to a big lovely common area with couches and chairs and lots of natural light flooding in. Our room had big deep windows with lots of obviously very happy plants sitting in the sills. The bathroom was beautifully tiled and had a very nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and had really comfy sheets as well. Everything is spotlessly clean, and we would highly recommend this place to anybody thinking of visiting Hudson .

Hudson itself has great shops and impressive restaurants, but the breakfast at the Inn (pastries, granola, yogurt- all homemade- and fresh pressed juices) is also not to be missed. Our stay was wonderful and something she remembered with fondness for (sadly) the rest of her life. The handmade breakfasts felt to us like they were made exclusively for us and all were excellent. The suggestions for visiting the area homes of Frederick Church and Norman Rockwell was especially welcome to me as an artist as were a couple of other highlights of the trip. The Inn itself was immaculate, well appointed and felt period correct. I wish I had luggage large enough to take the purloin the Jacobean chest from my room and smuggle it back to Texas. If I lived in NYC, which I am glad I don't, I would figure out a way to spend many weekends here. I have traveled extensively through all 50 states in the last 50 years, stayed in cheap hotels and spectacular resorts so I think I know a thing or two about quality and The Inn at 34 is at the top of my list. I acknowledge that satisfaction is a relative thing depending on two things, the facility and you. I can only state that I give The Inn at 34 five very large stars. Given only five stars to choose from I cannot recommend it any higher.

We're frequent IHG guests and have stayed at several of their brands over the years. Hotel Indigo is usually our favorite, and we'd previously stayed at a Voco in St. Augustine, so we already had high expectations. This property somehow managed to surpass them. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot, we were impressed. The landscaping is beautiful, with colorful flowers everywhere, and the hotel sits right along the river with a lovely park directly behind it. The setting immediately felt peaceful and inviting. We arrived several hours before the normal check-in time and, because of our IHG status, called to see if an early check-in might be possible. The front desk was incredibly accommodating and had a room ready for us right away, which was a wonderful start to our stay. Although we weren't able to get a river-view room, our room overlooked the trees and was still beautiful. It was spotless, exceptionally spacious, and featured high ceilings that made it feel even larger. The bathroom was equally impressive, with upscale finishes and plenty of space. It was one of those hotel rooms that actually makes you want to spend time relaxing instead of rushing out the door. The location is another huge plus. The surrounding town is small, historic, and very walkable. The riverside park behind the hotel offers kayak and canoe rentals, a fantastic playground for kids, and Adirondack chairs and fire pits that make for a perfect evening by the water. One of my favorite moments of the trip was waking up early to watch the sunrise over the river. The view was absolutely beautiful and well worth getting up for. We also had breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, and it ended up being one of the best meals we had during our visit. The coffee was excellent, and I loved sitting in the modern lobby with my morning coffee while looking out over the beautifully landscaped courtyard. It was such a relaxing way to start the day. This is the kind of hotel that makes you want to extend your stay. Between the beautiful property, comfortable rooms, excellent service, and ideal location, it's a place we'd happily return to. We highly recommend it and can't wait for our next visit.

Furniture was comfortable in public spaces, banquettes for meals in bar/restaurant area were great and the coffee in the morning was good. Breakfast was really good - not included but really nice to have. Rooms were a good size and beds were comfortable. The loft room (which I had the first night) was a little odd. Cool but not really practical at all. I switched rooms the second day and they couldn't have been more accommodating. I really liked that they texted after check in to make sure we were comfortable and responded right away. I would definitely stay here again if visiting the Hudson/Albany area. It's a walkable tiny town with some nice restaurants and shops very conveniently located with a minute or two of the hotel, and a whole lot more in the region. No food service at the hotel, but there is a coffee station in the common area and a shared mini fridge as well. The bagel shop located literally across the street is open nice and early, though, and the tokens for the fancier coffee shop nearby are a nice touch. The setup for traveling with kids is also great - my kid loved the crib and the cozy lounge room with toys and books was a much-appreciated play space.

I liked that it was closer…read moreto shops, galleries, and restaurants on the west side of Warren St that I had missed during a previous visit. The Nautical Nest is the second property of the owners of Nest Hudson. Of the four units, I booked a second floor room with a balcony after researching details on several third party websites. As the name suggests, the room had a nautical theme with a well-chosen decor and nice finishes. It included a king-sized bed (very comfortable mattress), chest of drawers topped with a beverage station, and a desk. The bathroom was bright, with great quality towels and strong shower pressure. Nest Hudson shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner were provided. My favorite feature, however, was the Nespresso coffeemaker in the room! This was very convenient, and I was happy to have a high quality coffee everyday. I also enjoyed the balcony for morning coffee and to relax later in the day. An outdoor patio is next to the building. There is also a communal kitchen with a small fridge, microwave, and tea kettle that some guests seemed to use quite often. Individually wrapped snacks and tea are located there, and replenished every few days. A few tips: 1. The Nautical Nest listings on multiple third party websites state that there is "free parking." In reality, it is free STREET parking. Fortunately, I visited during a less busy week, so I was able to secure parking on the same street as the hotel, City Hall Pl, most days. However, parking is not allowed there from 9pm Wednesday to 8am Thursday, so I moved my car to the nearby Union St. Unfortunately, Union St is subject to alternate street parking rules. There is no signage to indicate which is an "even" vs "odd" side of the street, so a ticket will be issued if you park on the wrong side of the street. I was unaware of this parking issue prior to booking my reservation. I notified the owners to update their third party website listings. They may also want to arrange parking for guests in a nearby municipal lot as some other hotels on Warren St have done. 2. The Nautical Nest is an older building, so floors and stairs are creaky. You will hear anyone who is up and about early, including housekeeping. If your room has a window A/C unit, street noise will be quite audible (road construction, back up truck alarms, etc). I purchased ear plugs after waking up to the sound of a jack hammer the first morning of my stay. Prior to my arrival, I also received two requests to "keep noise at a minimum" and "be mindful of other guests" in informational emails from management. I also received an additional reminder when notified that my room was ready for check in. Although I understand the intent, I thought this was a bit much. Overall, the Nautical Nest is a quality boutique hotel. I enjoyed my room as it was quite spacious and comfortable. Although I was stressed about the parking situation, other guests may be less concerned. If you are a "morning person," the sounds inside and outside of the building may not be bothersome.

Tim was a friendly host who provided a nice breakfast and great stories. Eating on the patio with other guests while enjoying the birds and river was memorable! The 1847 house is full of wonderful character right down to the creaky floors and steep stairs. But the apartment was very dirty: large dust clumps, pill under table, food bits in and around sink with bugs flying around, very dusty/grimy. Two windows didn't have privacy curtains making our daughters uncomfortable sleeping in the living room. And viewed from those windows was clutter in the adjoining indoor patio and crutches leaning against a fence. The bathroom was tiny, very tiny dirty shower with used loofa's inside, no TP holder and a plate of mostly used bars of soap. The common rooms were very cluttered. That beautiful long table was too cluttered to visit and the living room was cluttered with laundry and drying laundry. But if you go into it knowing that, it is a great experience because of the interactions with the people, location and this charming home. And it was our most comfy bed of the trip!!
