This is my third trip to Barn on the Pond. Every time it just gets more and more magical. This time…read morewe were 13 people for a three day birthday celebration. We arrived on Friday night and kicked things off with a barbecue on the terrace. Everything you need for an easy and fun cook up is on hand. Most of the group were new to BOTP and the Catskills and were in awe of both. The accommodations are more fabulous than they look in the already great photography on the website, and so comfortable. Everyone was happy and we spread out across the barn, airstream and cabin. I slept in the solarium with hubby. Now he wants us to upgrade to king size bed at home. Propped up on all the fluffy pillows and bolsters for my morning read surrounded by the verdant scenery was a balm for this New Yorker's psyche. Hubby also took an instant liking to one of the armchairs. This one room is so versatile. One of the writers in our group used the desk during the day. When you close the doors it is very very quiet. The couples in kitchen and master bedrooms respectively slept soundly, while the mezzanine crew were equally happy and at ease. The cabin peeps, a father and son, were thrilled to have their own separate digs and absolutely loved it. Two gal pals had the airstream and they too rested well . In short we were all in our happy place and were all able to really relax. Everything through out the property sings inspired human. As a group we felt so blessed and connected, free and flowing. When our Saturday morning attempt to leave and go swimming was thwarted by a deluge we just danced and practiced yoga in the rain. This was just happy sober. When the skies did clear in the afternoon some of us went swimming at a nearby lake, some went for a scenic drive and checked out a whiskey distillery and some just lounged. Barn on the Pond is amazing, a luxury immersion in nature, the service from the Team incredible, we will be back next year for another birthday and to host a meditation retreat.

What a great experience!!! Terrific place for a weekend getaway. Peaceful, excellent, and wonderful.read more

I emailed the owner (Kerry) and we then spent an hour talking on the phone. She was warm and genuine and I felt as if I were listening to a travel essay. I was intoxicated first by the photos and then by her description and her passion. I opted not to spend my 30th at Sanctuary because I took my now Partner of 2.5 years there for our first weekend away. I had told her about Sanctuary on our earliest dates, but surprised her. When we pulled up on the snowy night she said, "Is that your church?" I was so intoxicated by the experience that I blurted out "I'm falling in love with you" when I promised myself I would let the relationship grow organically. When we arrived, the entire church was lit with candles and the fire place was roaring. Kerry met us and showed us the lay of the land. Like I said, I will never have words adequate enough to describe the experience. I can say that I do not ever remember feeling that at peace, or having stayed in such a beautiful, calming place. It was a sanctuary - it was heavenly (I am not religious). We spent the entire weekend sitting by the fire, cooking in the gourmet chefs kitchen, reading books, drinking wine, napping, taking bathes in the clawfoot tub. We left only once the entire weekend to pick up some staples. We returned the next year. We agreed we would return every year that we could. We have stayed in touch with Kerry. We hope she will never sell the place. We look at the photos, but the photos (which are intoxicating) will never do this place any justice. You must sleep and wake up with sunlight pouring through the stain glass windows. You must enjoy every detail. Kerry did not miss anything and restored the place with passion and love. Thank you, Kerry!
