Hidden little gem of a hotel. What can I say? After a terrible night sleeping at another hotel, we decided to try to find our piece of happiness here in Key West before we were to return home. Little did we know, we'd stumble onto this place. We checked out of our previous hotel, so we were technically homeless. However, I found a last minute deal at The Marquesa Hotel and I was rewarded! Please, go! Visit!!! From the quaintness of the hotel itself, the perfectly acquainted rooms, you are transformed when you walk out to the pool deck. You can either warm yourself in the heated pool or take a quick dip in their cooling pool. You will immediately find yourself basking in the peace and tranquillity of this place as this is an adult-only place. I can't wait to return, I think this time, it will be a girls only trip. Have been going to key west for over 20 years and had never stayed here before. Booked through Susie at Key West Key Inc. who I usually use for my accommodations, especially when it's last minute or finding something is tricky. Paid for the standard room but because they weren't sold out, Alex, who checked us in, upgraded us to a poolside room upstairs. It was lovely. Immaculate, high end, but cozy. Had a gorgeous bathroom that was super modern while still feeling "historical". Outside deck Sitting area that was shared with neighbor, although we got lucky because no one was in that room. Pools were beautiful...one really cold, which was nice for the heat, and the other was heated. Grounds are gorgeous.

One of my favorite hotels in the country! We had a lovely pool side room with a patio. Alex helped us to our room and answered every question we had. A lovely and private property on a busy island. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

I stayed at the hotel several nights and it was a lovely experience, the staff was very friendly and helpful very accommodating, there was also a fat cat that hangs around there super cute. Also only a block or two away from Duval st. The dinner experience was fantastic as well while the price is steep it is definitely worth every penny the flavor palate was excellent you can tell the waiters and the chef/ kitchen are well trained and caring. Overall great experience very calming and relaxing will be returning!

Amazing experience. From the ambience of the hotel to the exceptional service. The Marquesa had a quiet and relaxing atmosphere which was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Duval Street. We got to know the staff very well. Bryan was amazing. He gave us perfect recommendations and was above and beyond accommodating with everything. The room service continental breakfast is a must. They serve it right to your patio where you can sit out in a robe and enjoy your morning coffee. We will definitely be returning next time in Key West.

Hubs and I stayed here for a week, while in Key West! We get one vacay a year, so we want luxury and a 5 star experience. All of the reviews and research allowed the choice for The Marquesa to be the most obvious one. Hands down, best place to stay in Key West, if you are wanting privacy, quiet, and no kids. Everything was top notch, from our check in, arranging of reservations and services, as well as housekeeping. The place is immaculate! The surroundings are very quaint, shut off from the craze of Duval, but close enough to it should you want to partake. The premises has private, sheltered parking, bike rentals, two pools (one heated, one not), water and tea available pool side all day, along with fresh towels. Not worth the deduction of a star, but it should be noted that the walls are pretty thin. Luckily, nothing crazy was going on with our neighbor patrons while we were in our room, but we did have to call the concierge to ask them to tell the folks to turn their TV down in the middle of the night. They took care of it, with no prob! We will definitely be coming back on our next stay in Key West!

My partner and I recently spent three nights at The Marquesa Hotel. This was our second stay at the hotel. We stayed at their newer 4-1-4 property the first time and we stayed at the original hotel the second time. The hotel is traditional and 4-1-4 is more modern. While the original hotel has its charms, we greatly prefer the 4-1-4 property. During this visit, we stayed in a standard room. While the room was small, we did have a large balcony overlooking Fleming Street (which was noisy during the day, but perfect for a happy hour cocktail). We stayed in a balcony deluxe room during our first visit and it was much larger (and had a better assortment of snacks!). If we stay again, we'll make a point of reserving a room at the 4-1-4 property. The complimentary coffee is nice in the morning. The wall of orchids near one of the swimming pools is lovely. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant (which we dined at during our first visit) is classic and good (but not good enough to justify entrees over $50). The Marquesa Hotel is a very nice hotel, but I had an epiphany during this visit. I will no longer stay in a room if the bathroom isn't at least as nice as our master bathroom.

Huge fan. Everything was perfect and very casual. The staff was great, and the location was exceptional; we never used our car.

Dinner was blah. Pistachio encrusted snapper was like cardboard. Wouldn't return. New chef? Not like the Marquesa I remember.,

They said basically it is what it is and we have to deal with it. One night they moved us to another room and they were acting like they were doing us a favor. It was major problem for us. second night they moved us to our room which has broken AC And gave us boxed fan to cool off. Front desk manager is clueless and don't know how to handle issues and he has kids working for him who do not know how to handle anything. They are like teenagers. We wish we had checked out and stayed at Marquesa hotel instead. But everyone was at the same hotel for the weekend so we stuck it out. For the price point, ones expectations are commensurate and this place was not even in the same universe as other hotels charging the same rate. The hotel is right on the water but in key west, the same can also be said for a gas station. Right away you know there's a problem because the elevator to reception smells like rotting seaweed (sargassum). The reception area seems like a guest room that was adapted and its small and dark and doesn't work. Then you get to the guest rooms from the year 1985 with chair railing and crown molding that has never seen a magic eraser in its life. Covered in 40 years of dust and who knows what else. The blinds have never been dusted or replaced in 40 years. Are you getting the picture? The head board had mystery smears on it. Floors were filthy with 40 years of accumulated dust. We dared not step one toe into the murky pool. We watched as guests sat there for hours, drink after drink, and never got out. Not even to use the bathroom? Ewwww. Every day the streets flood with high tide and poor civil planning so coming and going from the hotel means wading in ankle deep water and probably sewage, which is probably why the elevator smells so terribly. No wonder all the associates there seem so sad. I would be too if I worked there. I was sad for the resources and time spent here that I wont get back.

On top of that the room is almost closet sized with an exposed shower and sink which makes it feel very humid in the room. Theres barely enough space between the bed and wall to walking into the room. The shower also hadn't been cleaned with a piece of old soap stuck to the floor and bug crawling under the pillow when i moved it.. I brought it to the attention of the man working the front desk who first told me it was a queen. The GM came on later that evening and admitted that it wasn't a queen and offered us a slightly larger rom but same size bed. Again the sink was in the room and it was stuffy and humid which made it hard to sleep more than four hours. I canceled the room after one night and tried to get my money back, but they've refused. Do not stay at this hotel. The "queen room" is basically just a hostel at hotel prices. $260 a night in my case.
