I love the idea of a marshmallow cart! There is a selection of marshmallow flavors, belgian waffles (+toppings), smores, AND all of this comes toasted to your liking. I'm not certain if the marshmallow flavors rotate, but I highly recommend the coconut! The maple comes in a close second. Next time I want to get a s'mores with one coconut and one maple marshmallow. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. It's a relatively new truck/cart so the lines weren't long so go over and try it before everyone else does! I can't wait to go back to try all the marshmallow-themed treats (though I'm certain the s'mores will be my favorite). Be sure to check the website to know where they'll be!

Considering Portland has some amazing food, and food trucks, I'm surprised someone didn't think of this sooner. The Marshmallow Cart is every dessert lover's dream, especially if you like things prepared right in front of you. Waffles, Rice Krispy Treats, Nutella...the list goes on and on for what you can get here. Be prepared for it to be a little bit sticky, but oh so yummy. I recommend: the waffle on a stick. I got mine with a vanilla marshmallow (homemade of course and perfectly golden brown and ooey gooey to boot) and Nutella. Try it for yourself if you don't believe me. Or just try it in general, because it's good, and just right for warm summer nights.

Gross Confection recently announced on social media they would be shutting down the bar/desserts service while remaining open as a bakery. My wife and I came here many a times for an end cap to the night for one last drink and delicious and beautifully made desserts. From times in their dimly lit space that gave off romantic vibes or even enjoying our desserts in the summer sun outside people watching, every time will be remembered. Timing worked out well and we were doing a staycation in Portland and knew we needed to add a stop here one last time. Thankfully we got our names in on the waiting list early enough Friday and got sat as one of the last tables. We each had one last phenomenal drink; my wife and Apricot 75 that had a great tart kick of apricot and lemon. While I enjoyed their Chai Fashioned which spelt like a chai but had that boozy bourbon warming you'd expect. Dessert wise everything sounded good as always but we settled on two. The Goat Cheesecake and Pineapple Cake. The cheesecake was the perfect sweetness without being cloying and the blueberry sorbet on top paired so well. The pineapple cake was moist and tasted so good we needed to scrap the plate clean. I'm sad that Portland is losing this amazing dessert space but glad it's not a complete goodbye since they'll operate the bakery still! If you somehow read this today and have the chance make it in for one last visit tonight before they close their doors!

Do not come here expecting to sit at a cafe and eat indoors. There are only a few outdoor tables. This is more of a take out spot. There was a preorder area which had no line seemed like a good option if you want to just drive up and grab your goods without waiting in a long line. The drinks (iced tea/cold brew/hot coffee/tea) are premade and I would say are above average. The pastries we had were unbelievable! Flakey, buttery croissants with simple but punchy flavors. This spot is worth the wait!

After having some of the bread prior to our meals at a few restaurants, we found out the bread is locally sourced at a sister business right around the corner from where ate the night before. There is parking avail for customers in the lot for 30 mins, we prob waited about 20 mins and crossed the threshold into baked goods heaven. There was so much to select from - we got pastries, cookies, pizza and bread - and we pretty much liked everything. Our least favorite was the morning bun with walnuts - we didn't have it right away so that might've been part of the issue. Just note that the bread served at the restaurants aren't available until 2pm - we were leaving that morning so we weren't going wait for it. We opted for other loaves instead and they didn't disappoint. If you want something yummy and fresh - make sure to stop by here before heading out of Portland. I do wish the setup was a bit more conducive to the big crowds as there isn't much space from the front door to the counter but still a fantastic find!

When I got in, I saw the flavors listed on the board and tried a few samples served on a metal spoon. Since I was in Maine, I had to try the two blueberry flavors. I immediately fell in love with the Maine Wild Blueberry Crisp Gelato and asked for a small cup with that flavor. The Maine Wild Blueberry Crisp Gelato is comprised of wild blueberries intersected with a sweet and crunchy oat streusel covering and kissed by a scoop of vanilla. It was so yummy! My husband had the Netflix & Chill Gelato which is caramel gelato with brownie bits, peanut butter cups, and kisses. The small dish was $6.35 each and it includes a Maine restaurant tax. The next day, during the Portland: Old Port Culinary Walking Tour on Sunday, June 14, 2026, our last stop was The Gelato Fiasco. Funny enough, I was just here the night before. At The Gelato Fiasco, our group of 13 were able to each choose two flavors. Since I already had the Maine Wild Blueberry Crisp Gelato last night, I wanted to try some other flavors. This time I got the Ripe Mango and Thai Iced Tea. WOW! The Ripe Mango and Thai Iced Tea really tasted like how you would expect it to taste, all the flavors were there, but imagine it in a denser, silkier texture and a more intense flavor. I highly recommend checking out The Gelato Fiasco, you will not regret the smooth and creamy texture of the gelato. There are plenty of seating inside and outside.

Ambiance rate 5/10. The staff is nice, and the service is quick. Service/staff rate: 6.5/10. This place offers a wide variety of gelato flavors! I ordered a small dish consisting of a scoop of "Big Ole Peanut Butter" and a scoop of "Cookie Therapy." Both flavors were very bold which I enjoyed because I was able to really taste it. In addition, the cup size is a generous portion. Food rate: 8/10 Overall, this gelato place is a nice place to stop by for a quick dessert!
