I love The Cookie Jar. I will always make a stop if I'm in the area and it's open. Everything I've ever bought has been good and fresh.

Whenever we are in Maine, this bakery is a must. Delicious donuts, cinnamon rolls (iced or glazed) and this trip mini eclairs. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but call ahead to place an order for pick up. The staff is friendly and responsive. A few blocks from the Portland Headlight.

We were in town visiting from Orange County, California, and we had the best donuts that we had ever had in our lives! We went to the lighthouse to catch sunrise and stopped by on our way to New Hampshire. We also enjoyed some of the fresh dairy from Oakhurst Farms that is just not as accessibly fresh in California!

I tried the raspberry bear claw today. It was very good but isn't going to replace the raspberry cream turnovers in my affections.

I've been going to The Cookie Jar since high school- over 55 years. My favorite thing is their carrot cake- it's just out of this world!

Gross Confection recently announced on social media they would be shutting down the bar/desserts service while remaining open as a bakery. My wife and I came here many a times for an end cap to the night for one last drink and delicious and beautifully made desserts. From times in their dimly lit space that gave off romantic vibes or even enjoying our desserts in the summer sun outside people watching, every time will be remembered. Timing worked out well and we were doing a staycation in Portland and knew we needed to add a stop here one last time. Thankfully we got our names in on the waiting list early enough Friday and got sat as one of the last tables. We each had one last phenomenal drink; my wife and Apricot 75 that had a great tart kick of apricot and lemon. While I enjoyed their Chai Fashioned which spelt like a chai but had that boozy bourbon warming you'd expect. Dessert wise everything sounded good as always but we settled on two. The Goat Cheesecake and Pineapple Cake. The cheesecake was the perfect sweetness without being cloying and the blueberry sorbet on top paired so well. The pineapple cake was moist and tasted so good we needed to scrap the plate clean. I'm sad that Portland is losing this amazing dessert space but glad it's not a complete goodbye since they'll operate the bakery still! If you somehow read this today and have the chance make it in for one last visit tonight before they close their doors!

After having some of the bread prior to our meals at a few restaurants, we found out the bread is locally sourced at a sister business right around the corner from where ate the night before. There is parking avail for customers in the lot for 30 mins, we prob waited about 20 mins and crossed the threshold into baked goods heaven. There was so much to select from - we got pastries, cookies, pizza and bread - and we pretty much liked everything. Our least favorite was the morning bun with walnuts - we didn't have it right away so that might've been part of the issue. Just note that the bread served at the restaurants aren't available until 2pm - we were leaving that morning so we weren't going wait for it. We opted for other loaves instead and they didn't disappoint. If you want something yummy and fresh - make sure to stop by here before heading out of Portland. I do wish the setup was a bit more conducive to the big crowds as there isn't much space from the front door to the counter but still a fantastic find!

This spot had been on our list since moving to Maine, and it felt like the perfect time. We booked same-day reservations for brunch and ended up having one of the best brunches we've ever had in Maine. From the food to the service and the cozy ambiance, everything was perfect; so much so that I bought a gift card before we left because I knew we'd want to come back soon. The brunch menu isn't huge, but it had just the right amount of variety. I ordered the croissant French toast, and my husband went for the burger. Both were incredible. After my first bite, I turned to him and said, "I don't think I've had French toast until now"--it was that good. The cranberry compote on top was *chef's kiss*. My husband's burger was cooked to perfection l. The coffee was amazing, served in the cutest little cup that made me feel like I was at a cabin-themed restaurant tucked in the mountains. The staff kept refilling it without us ever needing to ask. Our Bloody Marys were just as impressive. Everything about the experience; from the warm, attentive service to the inviting, homey vibe of the restaurant; made it feel extra special, especially on a chilly day. I can't believe it took us this long to visit The Good Table. I already can't wait to go back.

Our pizza was delivered to our table in takeout boxes. Premade salads came in plastic containers. We fetched our flimsy plates and plastic cutlery from a water station. The food was average. In short , there's no reason to get pizza here with so many better options available in the greater Portland area. "Dining" at what was once a vibrant hometown restaurant was a depressing experience. I hope the owners have better things in store for this restaurant because it deserves better. On the plus side, the young staff was friendly.

The latte and croissant were great, but even better was the back room with extra seating, giving me and my companion plenty of privacy for our conversation. I am often so daunted by some of the squishy spaces in town to meet someone for coffee when you need to have a real conversation. Yuri's is not like that at all, plenty of space, plenty of sunshine, strong wifi and great food.

Gofres are these smaller, sweeter, denser waffles that taste delicious with either a drizzle of caramel OR a drizzle of vanilla icing (like what you get on top of cinnamon rolls). I had gofres every day walking to Parque Marítimo. I haven't had ANYTHING like it since coming back to the States, and that's been over a decade now. Segue... The Marshmallow Cart is just fun. Good, old fashioned, fun. It's good for kids. It's good for drunken twenty-somethings outside of Fore Street bars. It's good for tourists. It's good for those of us with a sweet tooth who need a fix but don't want to spend a lot of money. And it's good for those of us who like the idea of s'mores, but maybe don't want to purchase all the ingredients to make them ourselves, because... let's face it... there's always half a box of graham crackers leftover (and seriously, what does anyone ever do with those?). It's run by a staff of fun-loving folks. And they've got fire. So, basically, it appeals perfectly to most people's inner child. There's only two things that prevent me from giving The Marshmallow Cart full marks: 1. Marshmallows are typically made with gelatin. Gelatin is typically made from animal by-products (think bones, skin, and tendons). I don't know (but would update this in a heartbeat if I did) if The Marshmallow Cart makes their marshmallow's with gelatin or if they're vegetarian-friendly and use guar gum, agar agar, or pectin. That being said, as a vegetarian, I'm not exactly rushing to get back here for this particular product. 2. THE WAFFLES ARE DELICIOUS. They sooooooo remind me of my Spanish gofres, but... The Marshmallow Cart doesn't have icing for them. I think the only options are marshmallow or nutella. Allow me a Veruca Salt moment, if you will: I WANT ICING. AND I WANT IT NOW. I would come out of my way for this if it was available. Maybe I should just start carrying my own bottle of it around in my purse? The point... if you like marshmallows (and don't have a plant-based diet), s'mores, waffles (sans icing), fire, and smiling... The Marshmallow Cart will not disappoint.
