This massage place was truly surreal. Was it a relaxing serenity of tranquility? Call it heaven. Did poof tailed squirrels cross my path on the way to my massage room? I feel oddly like Sleeping Beauty. Were there adorable fluffy deer with twin fawns like in the yelp pictures? I was pretty sure they were photoshopped, but apparently not. My massage therapist Naomi was incredible. I wish I could say that I fell asleep during the massage but actually I left more sore than when I came in.. which. was. perfect! I didn't even tell her what my profession was and she was able to tell the areas that cause me discomfort throughout the week. She targeted the areas of concern and intensely concentrated on them. I loved that she offered essential oils and there was no additional charge for them. The hot stone addition was relaxing and made me feel like a pat of butter on freshly made toast. The setting was exquisite, the massage expertise unbeatable, and the price incredibly competitive and worth every dime. This place is an absolute gem and I was so happy I found it on Yelp. Being seven months pregnant, and completely uncomfortable, I splurged on a pregnancy massage from Naomi. She was super friendly and accommodating and I felt very comfortable with her style. She knew exactly how to position me for safety and I seriously wanted to hug her when she worked out the kinks in my calves without me pointing anything out. She rocks. The back area of the place is like a small animal sanctuary. My massage was in one of the back cottages and it felt so serene and relaxing just walking out there and being greeted by all these fat little squirrels, rabbits and even a deer. The small house holds everything I imagine a massage studio should have, beautifully nestled into a patch of woods conveniently located on the westside of Oly. Lately, I feel like my life is completely disorganized. As a result, I'm totally stressed out with knots in my back and neck, as well as incapable of planning anything beyond a few hours notice. The Massage Place offers convenient online booking, and I was able to book an 11am appointment just a few hours before. I was greeted by the beautiful Ingrid, who gave me the quick interview before we got started. The massage itself was fantastic. It was as if Ingrid had some pain radar and could tell exactly the spots that were bugging me in my back, neck and arms. She used warm towels and essential oils that made the experience much more special than the average massage. The music was soothing piano accompanied by the birds chirping right outside the open windows. I want everyone I love to be able to have the experience I just had at The Massage Place. The property is actually a certified wildlife sanctuary, and during the summer months there is a flurry of activity going on! There are three outdoor studios where you can have a massage, one of which is basically an open air cabana. There seven different practitioners working there covering basically every modality you could need; herbalists, flower essences, soma-neuromuscular integration, deep tissue, structural bodywork, myofascial release, sweedish, MET, sports massage and others. I typically see Lynn whose work is a mix of structural bodywork, myofascial and deep tissue. How many places have you patronized lately that have you feeling refreshed and relaxed BEFORE your massage? That's just what happened to me. The Massage Place is easy to find, very clean and their attention to making you feel welcome from the start is very apparent. They are nestled in a cozy area replete with fruit trees, flowers, comfortable chairs, and twittering wildlife. All in all a very pleasing atmosphere. The fact they are a registered sanctuary is an added bonus. The birds and wildlife go about their business as if your very presence was as natural as their habitat; very Disney-like. I highly recommend their service. The actual massage was very well done and Tracey (as stated in another review) is amazing. She got right to the tricky spots and her fingers just knew how to get those stubborn muscle knots out. Oxymoron, I know, until you've had it happen. Tracy is absolutely AMAZING! Not only does she listen to what is going on with my body, but she also listens to what stressors I have going on in my life. I feel completely cared for and heard every time I visit her. Her massage work is some of the best I have ever had. I walk out of there feeling so much relief and it lasts! The location is beautiful! The setting of this establishment resembles a cottage nestled in the woods. When entering I immediately settled into the cozy atmosphere. There were nodes of essential oils & I was greeted promptly by my masseuse. I scheduled an appointment online earlier that day. Set up my own time and selected a therapist based on their profile. When left to change I was pleasantly surprised by the view from the room. There were birds and a squirrel perched on a bird bath. Enveloped in the protection of lush trees and bushes. The massage was firm and preformed gracefully. Sarah was a goddess! She felt out my tension and knots and tended to them. (I am sore.) But, it's a relief I know she manipulated the knots to the surface. I was appreciative of the hot towels and heated blanket to soothe the loosened muscles. Throughout the session soft music filled the room. The only complaint I have is that the window let it a significant amount of sunlight. I scheduled a massage using their online program 5 hours before my appointment time. When I showed up the only workers were giving others massages. Found out later they didn't check for updates. I ended up getting a free massage. But after the massage I scheduled another appointment and showed up but the door was locked. Their communication and scheduling procedures need updating! Gabe is amazing! I started coming here soon after I began a stressful job and I was trying to do some self care. The strain from work really takes a toll on my posture and my neck starts cramping so bad my fingers go numb from it. Gabe works on fasciae relief and really breaks up the tension in my body. He does a great job. I walk out of there a completely different person and people definitely notice it on how I walk. Gabe can apply the pressure if you need it but unlike other massages he can really ease the knots and provide relief without peeling you off the ceiling if you know what I mean. He really knows how stress takes a toll on your body and how to relieve it. Naomi was kind and professional and took care to ensure that I was comfortable throughout- not an easy feat at 25 weeks pregnant! I received my massage in one of the back cabins which made it feel even more private! The massage was mostly laying on my side but involved some sitting on this really neat table that adjusted to support me being upright but still relaxed. The smell of the cabin was lovely and she used a cocoa butter based lotion/oil to massage so I felt ultra moisturized and kinda chocolatey! Remember that scene? Yeah, well a deep tissue massage with Rebecca is nothing like that. Unlike the point karate good old Danielson was engaged in it's more of a series of MMA style submission holds along with that Vulcan neck pinch Spock used to put someone out. She has hands stronger than most brick masons, is a wonderful conversationalist (which helps a lot), very knowledgeable and has invaluable advise on care and prevention of injury. The place itself is really peaceful and cozy. They have rooms inside and cabanas in the back if you want to enjoy the fresh air and listen to birds while you get a massage. Last time I was there a doe was eating fallen apples accompanied by two of her offspring. Unlike having Pat Morita's hands kissing your boo boo the deep tissue massage is actually healing and helpful. Also you don't have to paint a fence or wax a bunch of classic cars in some esoteric way to get it. read more

I went here based on reviews, and wow! Best massage experience thus far! I treated myself to a birthday massage, but I also have a sports injury that flared up when i made the mistake of doing sprints this week, so I wanted a combination of full body and localized. Ingrid was fantastic at her job. She was friendly, down to earth, very attentive, and seemed to know just what my body needed. I feel great. Very relaxed, and the stress of just moving to Olympia and into a house has worn off so I can enjoy the rest of my birthday! This place is also ridiculously pretty and calming. I went to The Massage Place for the first time this weekend. I have a lower back issue which flares up 3-4 times a year and even when it is stable I am incredibly tight and tense both in my lower back and buttocks. I have been receiving regular massage, about once a week for a few years in Eastern Washington before moving to Olympia. I saw Ingrid Abbott, LMP and had the most successful massage in reducing tension and tightness. I must admit that at times I was close to tears as Ingrid worked on my legs but I'm still feeling more lose and relaxed today than I can remember in years. I will most certainly be going back - I encourage the collective to apply to be covered by more insurance companies. Group Health doesn't have any TMP therapists listed yet. read more

I love the building and the backyard, the nature. There are tons of squirrels and sometimes families of deer. It is very relaxing. I love everything about this place. It's in an old house. The rooms are beautiful and tranquil. I love that the window is open and I can hear the birds playing in a bath outside. This is the third time I've been here. The first time I came I had a woman who was awesome (I don't remember her name. Sorry!) Then I had an appointment with Dawnovin. He is ah-maze-ing!! Just the perfect amount of pressure and he seems to intuitively know where I most need him. I've had him twice and I like that I can't predict where he will go next.
