Of course nothing can replace Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in my life, but I already train regularly where both advanced kickboxing and BJJ are taught. Title is not that gym. However, recently my grown kids have shown an interest in the cardio and training from a boxing class like Title, and honestly there are few places in the Kansas City area that can provide a consistent training experience with plenty of space and bags to handle a mixed class of beginners to advanced boxers. The location is also very convenient to at least half of us. Two of my adult children asked me to take them, so I passed out gear, showed them how to wrap up and stand and hit, and dragged them in for a few intro classes. It was not a disappointing experience! I'm not in the shape I was when I was younger, and I've been down with injuries and unable to train hard at my regular gyms, so the classes we took at Title kicked my butt nicely. My girls both enjoyed the experience as well, and it turned out there was no need for me to help them (they don't want to listen to me anyway) because the friendly staff was prepped with everything from teaching basic stances and foot movement to proper strikes and technique. They even could have provided loaner equipment and they showed them how to wrap their hands. Now... I don't wrap because I'm old and calloused and set in my ways - and in my day we used to punch bare fisted until we bled out our weakness. I don't like that they don't throw out combinations by number (naming the strikes throws me off), and I don't like that there are no kicks. I'm thinking, in my grumpy old man way, that I'm the wrong student to have in class. However, I'll tell you that treating the class like a 45 or 60 minute boot camp (time depends on which class), you can push yourself pretty hard. For me it takes getting past calling out the strike names instead of numbers, overcoming my old deaf ears trying to follow the instructions over the music, and then I got a great sweat on! Lots of ab work! Burpees rock! Lots of time to focus on basic technique! And I got to do something fun with my grown kids! I'm just gonna give this place 5 stars, because *yes*, I signed up for the unlimited plan so I can keep dropping in with my oldest two kids for some bonding, and a hard workout tailored to where my body is. If I was going to take away a star it would be because the Title membership does not transfer between locations. That's disappointing. One of my girls lives right next to another location, and she decided not to make it a regular thing because she couldn't go to the closer place without asking me to add a second membership.

I do not like working out. Like at all. In any way…read more BUT, TITLE Boxing Club showed me a workout that I was absolutely shocked to say I enjoyed. In fact, I think it's the only workout I would actually willingly and almost joyfully subject myself to. I first got to have a full hour long boxing workout via a Yelp event. At the event they offered a coupon for a free week of classes. Knowing I shouldn't pass up an opportunity for a free workout, I decided to go all in. I went every single day in the early morning for seven days in a row. At first the early hours and hard workout were brutal, but when it was over, I was genuinely sad to not be going back the next day. All of the trainers were excellent and helpful with their training and advice, that most people in their classes don't usually need. Probably the saddest part is that I can't currently afford the actual membership. It's something like $59/month for a once a week class. It just feels a bit excessive. Some gyms charge $90/month for unlimited classes and access to all facilities. Maybe one day i'll be able to swing it, but for now, I will just keep my memories of the great workouts and the feeling of accomplishment!

When I first tried their free class, I was amazed with the motivation they encouraged, the friendliness of their staff, and their excitement to work with you. The trainers I experienced were Mike, Shawn, and Will. They were all incredible and motivated the class in different ways. I 100% recommend all three of them. While I didn't attend a class with Jason, he was always happy to help with putting on the wraps and gloves, and improving techniques. This is definitely the place to be at.

Having moved from CA and not knowing anything about Overland Park, all I knew was I wanted to get…read moreback into shape. So I looked up the closest gym with the best schedule for me. I started at E3 August 2022 with the intent to just do personal strength training for the accountability. But out of pure curiosity about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), I signed up for an athletes challenge that included both strength training and once a week private BJJ lessons. The athletes challenge got me down over 15 pounds which I have kept off to this day. More importantly I gained more confidence and a sense of control over my body again. It surprised me how much I began enjoying the challenges of jiu jitsu and decided at the start of 2023 to commit to coming almost everyday to do both gi and Nogi classes. (Both those terms, amongst many others will start making sense when you start training). I started with the small group essentials BJJ foundation class, which helped build my confidence to do the regular classes. My concerns with starting a very physical sport in my 30s and coming from no previous martial arts experience quickly went away after adjusting over the course of a couple weeks. Everyone here at E3, from the techniques learned from my coaches to those I had the opportunity to roll with, all prepared me to compete in my first BJJ competition in May this year. The opportunity to train with top athletes from Brazil, to meet and grow with other members of the gym, and to really be part of a community that empowers individuals to feel more in tune with their body - I feel fortunate to have come across this gym. With the support of everyone at E3, you get a chance to see what you can be capable of. I truly cannot recommend it enough for anyone to try BJJ, especially with everyone here. I admit it, I'm inherently lazy and spoiled but I had to do something. I'm only 5' 7" and was 200 pounds at 53 years old, not good. So I started to workout with Charlie. Best decision ever! I struggle to find the words of how wonderful Charlie is as a person and personal trainer. I've been working with Charlie 3 times a week for over a year now. When we started I was 50 pounds overweight and 30+% body fat. Now I'm down 40 pounds and my body fat is hovering around 21 - 18%. Yes, I had to modify my drinking, not eating, slightly. So close to my goal! Our workouts are tough but always fun and full of laughs! I wear a heart monitor that reports to an app called iCardio, so I can track my progress. We started with burning 300 calories per workout, now we're up to 450 calories. It's amazing how quickly your body responds. One of the many things that makes Charlie a great personal trainer is he listens to you. If I sleep on my shoulder weird and it hurts, we'll do different exercises that won't stress out my shoulder. I have lower back and hamstring issues, if they are bothering me we'll do something that doesn't aggravate it. There's always an alternative exercise to get your heart pumping. Charlie has helped me change my life and I'm so grateful. If you need that extra push, you need Charlie. And if you think he's going to be too expensive, most other places are the same price for half the time. A nice way of saying they're twice as expensive. Invest in your health, Charlie is worth every penny!

She works personally with you one on one and ensures you have proper form/technique/everything. She even goes into detail about why you're using the parts of the body you're using and where you're drawing power from (which helped me tremendously). I found out with Iasha that I was punching and kicking wrong my whole life lol. Cons: None. I could say a con is she kicks your potootie in the sessions but hey - that's what she's there for! All in all, I would recommend Fit for the Crowne to anyone - beginner or advanced. Though her resume can be intimidating she is truly the "King" of kickboxing.
