Kudos to her for having the energy to respond, as the leukemia ate her alive. What do I see in yelp reviews? I see human cruelty. It appears to me that what comes with the age of social media, we evaginate. How remarkable to see people quickly return to the Neanderthal stage of human development. I digress. It was a fab trip and the weather was great. The driveway scared me but it appeared different than it was. Getting there in the dark (after 15 hours of driving) made everything appear difficult. Exhaustion! Wooden Indian was a great home. I slept through the footsteps and doors closing the 1st night. It kept my husband up all night. I am sorry I missed it, and I am sad he did not wake me. I knew my sister would let me know she was there. Every time we mentioned her name the lights blinked. The strangest thing of all, my 3.5lb Pomeranian (who cannot do steps) was found on the leather couch when we returned from dinner out. Four of us left the house, I was the last one out.. keeping the two pups from shooting out the door. I know she was on the floor (barking and spinning as she does) when we left. Jeanette had 10 dogs... such a dog lover. I presume Jeanette was holding her before we got back? It freaked the other 3 people in our group out, not me. Les Hatfield sent an email to me 11/7/2020 telling me my reservation was cancelled because someone had booked it back in august for the same dates. Didn't call, dodged my phone calls until I called him from a number local to them. Guess he expects me to just lose my travel deposits and rearrange mine and my family's vacation 7 days before we were supposed to leave on it. He should be fired immediately. If they want me to stop leaving reviews , they can send me a check and pay for my vacation. Until then, I will continue. Jeanette, he did dodge my phone calls. I called from my personal cell number 8 times, no answer. I called once from a Canoe rental shop in Morgantown, he answered on the second ring. Then he was rude and could care less that he was destroying a vacation that I had planned a month in advance. I sent you an email and got no response as well. I had your email address from one of the 3 other times that my wife and I rented cabins from you. No answer either. We can't believe that your employee is so careless that he didn't realize something was double booked until 6 days before we were set to go on vacation. Your cancellation policy is 14 days or we owe the full amount. Well guess what, if I am held to that policy, so are you.

We took the basement area, my parents took the loft, and my grandma took the room on the main floor. As far as the cabin itself goes, we were very happy. It was beautiful, had a great view, ample parking on the parking pad, a big beautiful fireplace, and all sorts of amenities, like a pool table and hot tub. With that being said, last year we stayed at a different cabin in Blue Ridge with a different company (Sundance Cabin Rentals) and that cabin was just... better. This cabin was beautiful, but it was a bit dirty and had some problems. 1) The door locks were all messed up. On every single outside door, the thumb lock was stuck or a pain to twist. Even the lock on the sliding glass door was broken, leaving only the 2x4 to keep it shut. For the majority of the stay, we ended up just using the key to lock the deadbolts and forgot about the thumb locks. Which brings us to #2. 2) They only gave us one key. So since none of the deadbolts actually had a lock you could turn without a key (they only had a keyhole on each side), this meant either being locked in or leaving the doors unlocked at all times. Or, running all the way up/ down stairs to get the key. 3) There were some holes in the walls. Looked like doors had been opened too hard and pushed all the way into the wall, punching holes in the drywall. 4) There were dead bugs still in the traps under the beds. Why were we looking under the beds? Well, kids drop toys that roll. In the last cabin, they cleaned all the sticky traps before we came. 5) There were live bugs in the cabin. A big spider in the top drawer of the basement dresser. A smaller spider in the shower of the main floor bathroom. A huge spider on the counter in the kitchen. Never saw one bug last year in the same mountains at the same time of year. 6) The accessories were spotty. The DVD player was broken so no kids movies for the toddler during down time. The internet went out regularly and had to be reset. Like, this happened so often that we all have the password memorized because each time it happened we had to then re-enter the password on our iPhones. And this was a random string of letters and numbers, yet I can still recite it with ease. That's how often we had to reset it. 7) There was only one thermostat for the whole cabin. So the basement being colder than the rest of the cabin meant either we froze or the upstairs died of heat stroke. In order to get our room to just 70 degrees, the loft bathroom ended up being 87 degrees. 8) Even the lights were messed up. The light over the kitchen table buzzed and flickered. The bulb in the main light in the basement room was burned out, so no real light, leaving only 3 lamps to light the room. Except, one of those bulbs were burned out. So we were down to two small lamps for the whole room. And we couldn't swap the bulbs out since the main light needed a screwdriver to change the bulb. 9) Some other small things, like the basement bathroom sink coming off of the wall, with the paint/drywall cracked all the way around it, scratched paint on all the dining room table chairs, etc. All in all, this was an amazing cabin, but it needs some serious love and some attention. It was well stocked, and had a pool table and hot tub which were lots of fun. But there was so much wasted potential. The only reason this got 4 stars instead of 3 was because I'm a sucker for sappiness, and we made some amazing memories here with our 4 generations staying all in this one cabin.

There was soda or something all over it. The lamp was dirty, the ironing board cover was gross. The bathroom walls were filthy. See photo. The mattress kept sliding off the bed a bit, hitting the light cord and unplugging it. The plug for the tub didn't work so water slowly leaked out. The manager said that the room was checked every day for bed bugs. Highly unlikely since there was no attention to detail or in depth cleaning going on. We left before 2 on Saturday even though we paid for 2 days. We had to stay there the previous weekend and that room was also less than clean. The person next door, who appears to live there because they were still there the 2nd weekend, fell asleep with the TV on loud enough to hear through the wall. Since you go through the gas station to book and call with a problem, there was no one to call because it was closed. We were given no other number in the event of a problem. Couldn't stay at the other motel the 2nd trip because they were full. AVOID this place.

Rooms were simple and a great value at $70/night. We have bike racks and bikes on our cars, and being on the first floor with our cars and bikes parked in front of the windows, definitely helps us sleep better at night. Hotel is also across the street from a Family Dollar and next door to a hardees, which was great bc we were short on time and there is no other shopping for about 15 miles in any direction. The Shell station in the parking lot is also the host office. Everyone that worked here was very kind and helpful. We would definitely stay here again next summer in combination with camping. We really needed this hotel for the wi-fi service, but didn't realize that until halfway through our stay at the campground. My daughter has several assignments due for college courses, and our hotspot was completely useless in the Nat'l Park area, the signal was never strong enough for her to load or complete the assignments. The hotel room gave us a place where my daughter could work for a few hours in comfort each day, as well as a place for us to freshen up before our 10 hour car ride home.

It was only four minutes from our Whitewater Rafting spot, how could we not?! I'd read the reviews about it being under new ownership and under renovation. Still is. One of the owners, Jerry, checked us in. He was helpful and polite. Our room was large and clean. The bed very comfortable. I slept so well! There are brand new smart TVs in the rooms so we were able to Netflix and Chill all we wanted. Also microwave and mini fridge in room were useful. Nice towels. Good water pressure. Cold ac. Things I didn't love. The ice machine requires 25 cents per bucket. No hair dryer in room. Had to search for a working outlet. I think there could still be some walls painted, tiles fixed, bathroom spruced, etc. But this was a lovely inn and I'd be happy to stay there again anytime.

Particularly sad, since this is possibly our favorite cabin rental ever. The Eagles Perch is the best-equipped, well-designed cabin we've stayed in (and we've stayed in many). Our family is the get-away-from-it-all type, and this cabin is perfect for that -- isolated enough to totally chill, but close enough to drop into nearby towns when the urge hits. Again, the Perch has just about everything you could need, and the cabin is exceptionally well-maintained. To say there is lots of deck/porch space would be an understatement, and during our early August visit, the outdoor fans were greatly appreciated. We particularly enjoyed meals and games on the extended covered outdoor deck area, enjoying the scenery, including those early-morning foggy vistas and late-night starry skies. The owners were totally helpful, friendly and communicative. We hope to return here as soon as next year and "finish the job." Can't recommend the Eagles Perch enough.
