He is a little over 2 years of age and is thriving more than I could have hoped for. The classrooms are clean, the teachers are incredibly sweet and nurturing, and I never feel out-of-the-loop. I receive constant updates and pictures of my son throughout the day via Facebook, and it's clear that the staff puts a lot of love and detail into what they do. Staff is beyond friendly! Jessica mans the front desk and is always friendly even in the wee hours of 6:30AM haha! Ashley is the director of the place. She is also super friendly! My kid is in the 1 year plus room, and the teacher there, Esmeralda, is wonderful! They do a great job of interacting with the kids all day long. The kids come home exhausted!!!!!!! The kids run around destroying it all, and the teachers run behind cleaning up what they can. They feed them breakfast around 9am, then lunch at 12, and a snack in the later afternoon, but you can pack more in their bags and if the teacher sees them hangry, they will give them the snack. They change their diapers every 2 hours no matter what, and more often if they get a whiff haha! The teachers really care. The teachers do as many activities with them as possible, from coloring to painting, and even going outside on their enclosed playground. All in all, if you need a place to watch your kid, this place is stellar! From super attentive staff to super clean facilities, this place is the best. I have no complaints with the school-the teachers are loving. They encourage every child. My daughter has learned a lot from here. I am sad that she is moving up to Pre K and we are leaving. Our oldest recently graduated, and although we had the option to move her into public school earlier, we intentionally kept her at Montessori. The combination of small class sizes, individual attention, and the quality of the math and reading curriculum made the decision easy. She left extremely well prepared academically, which was exactly what we hoped for. Our younger daughter is entering Pre-K4 this year, and we're very happy to continue with the school. The Montessori approach and strong curriculum are major advantages, but the consistency of the staff is equally important to us. Teacher turnover is very low, and the staff are experienced educators who focus on learning and development rather than simply providing daycare. I also appreciate that the school continues to add experiences for the kids beyond academics. Dance classes and the annual recital have been great, and this year they added an aquarium field trip as well. It's rare to have the perspective of experiencing a school both as a student and, years later, as a parent. Ms. Diane is on top of everything, and although kids do/will spread germs, Ms. Diane keeps it contained. She constantly updates the parents about any issues and responds to concerns immediately! I have two children that are currently in pre-k 4 and pre-k 2. I, proudly, am the definition of a helicopter mom lol. Nevertheless you could imagine how hard it was for me to let go. With that said, the warm loving teachers @ RMS helped me and my babies make the transition into school. Ms. Peggy has an amazing way about her, both my children were weary to start and she handled both introductions incredibly! My daughter took more time to adjust, she was getting herself so worked up that she literally made herself sick. By the 5th class she finally had a great day! Ms. Diane kept me informed about everything daily and was so kind to send me pictures to put my mind at ease! I absolutely love the curriculum at RMS! My son is learning Spanish, and actually retains the information to use it at home. He is always so proud to tell me what his job of the week is, who he worked with, how they dressed "Rosie" the smartboard calendar tool (which is his favorite topic lately). The Montessori program is wonderful at teaching children independence, my kids now ask "Mommy can I set the table? Mommy can I help clean up my toys? Mommy can I read 4 books tonight?" this shows me the incredible growth and development in my kids. I couldn't be more proud to be apart of the Rutherford Montessori School family!
