But holy everything else about this sauce was absolutely perfect. It was creamy, slightly sweet and acidic, and the perfect amount of dill. The cod itself was also incredible. The squid ink beer batter was another point that I thought was a really interesting visual addition alongside the roe. It didn't taste any different from a regular batter but I still thinks its a nice addition. The cod was fried extra crispy and crunchy on the outside while still being juicy and flaky on the inside. The spinach and embellishments saved the dish from being totally inedible. Presentation was sad and sloppy. The steak with tallow fries was a joke. The meat was chewy/tough, the sauce tasted like nothing, and the fries tasted like they came straight out of the freezer section of Walmart (freezer taste included). Wedges or fingerlings would have been a far better pairing in our opinion. Both of our plates were left barely half finished and it turned into a date of being food critics lol. A positive was they did make a decent old fashioned (was more of a double), and their French 75 was fabulous. Overall, it was a joke. We love interesting new places with unique menu options. The entrees we chose were Italian herb chicken breast and Italian meat lasagna served with roasted redskin potatoes and glazed carrots. Everything was just to die for! The chicken was the best I've ever had, and I was elated to bring home the leftovers (of which there weren't many).
