The first time I ate from the pantry, my coworkers had suggested it to order in on a Friday. I had…read morethe turkey panini, and I was hooked! The sandwich had turkey, cheese, bacon ( I picked off), greens, and a delicious aioli sauce. I suggested that my husband and I go in and try it a couple months later. It is located in the same plaza as Avenue N in Rumford. The storefront is made up of a glass "garage door" so it is pretty cool and unique inside. Service was prompt and friendly. Hubby tried the Cuban, he loved it, and I, creature of habit, stuck to my turkey panini. Once we ordered, the sandwiches came up faster than I expected. I had to use the bathroom and had to go next door to Avenue N. The owner or manager held the door for me, and was very friendly. Everyone that we have met there is friendly. If you want a good sandwich you won't be disappointed!

Just a sandwich in regular size bread pressed as a panini, and it was $12!!! I had no idea until I had to sign for it! The special board didn't have a price and all the other sandwiches were around $8 so I thought it would be the same. Even worse, one bite in and I was disgusted. The chicken was not cooked well and had that rubbery texture where you have to really pull with your teeth to break it. I threw it away after 2 bites and I'm gagging thinking of it. This could be a one off, but I'm really bummed about wasting $12 on my one spend day of the week! I have some other little gripes that honestly bring down my old rating too. We bought some stuff from the shop, which is still really cute and offers a lot of local (though very upcharged) stuff. And when we checked out, there's a line for tip! Everyone feels weird leaving a tip line blank, so why is it there! Just to make us feel awkward?!? All they offer to drink is hot coffee or cold brew, everything else is a deli or store or serve yourself food so why even tipping! Just made me and my friend awkward leaving that line blank, made us feel rude but why would we tip for only buying grocery items.

After seeing maven's delicatessen on Instagram, I had to come here…read more It was a blistering hot day out, and I walked into a pleasantly air-conditioned establishment. Loved the atmosphere and the place was spotless. One of the waitresses seated us asked us if we'd like a drink and pickles with coleslaw. We said yes pickles were great. Coleslaw was very vinegary. Was not a fan of that. We both ordered half a pound of pastrami sandwiches with Swiss cheese and mustard. The pastrami was very lean and sliced very thin and that was good. But I found the pastrami lacking in flavor. I think I was expecting pastrami like they sell at Katz's deli or the old now closed Carnegie's in New York. Would come back to try other things.

I really wanted to like Maven's. With all the hype surrounding this place, I expected something…read morespecial. After several visits, though, I'd describe it with one word: meh. To be clear, the food isn't bad. It's perfectly edible. The problem is that it's also remarkably average, especially considering the prices they're charging. Nothing I've ordered has made me think, "I can't wait to come back for that." It's just...fine. We actually visited during opening weekend, and it was a bit of a mess. They ran out of pastrami, which is a pretty big problem for a deli that was generating so much excitement. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because opening weekends can be chaotic. Since then, we've been back several times hoping things would improve, but the experience has been largely the same. The biggest issue, aside from the food being average, is the service. It's consistently slow. I can understand waiting when a restaurant is packed, but we've experienced long waits even when there were very few customers inside. It feels like everything moves at half speed, and that's been true on multiple visits. I also think they're trying a little too hard to be Katz's Delicatessen. That's an incredibly high bar, and instead of trying to recreate that experience, I'd rather see them focus on becoming the best version of themselves. Right now, it feels like the ambition exceeds the execution. The one thing I will gladly compliment is the bagels. They've been excellent every time we've ordered them, and honestly, they're probably the strongest item on the menu. I do think there's plenty of room for improvement, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. There's clearly potential here, and I genuinely hope they find their footing because I'd love to have another great deli in the area. We'll probably give them another chance down the road, and I hope I can come back and update this review with a much more positive experience.

All of our food was delicious, the employees were super friendly and helpful, and the restaurant seating area was pleasant, attractive and very clean. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, a pastrami sandwich and a half rack of baby back ribs. Both sandwiches were excellent, but the ribs really stole the show. They were well seasoned and so tasty, but better yet, they were extra, extra tender. We got two sauces on the side - rib juice sauce and the regular bbq sauce and I especially liked all of the herbs and seasonings in the rib juice. The ribs were some of the best I've had in this part of the country and I'm very glad we went to Chub's today.

Both times, Chub's delivered in a big way. Pull up and you'll immediately spot their massive smokehouse on the side of the building, which is a converted trailer that means serious business. Parking is plentiful. Inside, the restaurant is warm, inviting, and spotlessly clean. The staff were genuinely helpful and professional on both visits, the kind of team that makes you feel like a regular even on your first stop. On the first visit I went with the Ghost Pepper Sauce on the wings. They were crispy, perfectly smoked, and surprisingly approachable heat-wise. Not a face-melter, just beautifully layered flavor. I paired them with the Sweet Pete's Pulled Pork Sandwich and Grandma's Baked Beans, and honestly? Both were fantastic. The pulled pork was tender and perfectly smoked, and those baked beans had that homestyle depth that's nearly impossible to fake. On visit two I ordered the Blue Pig Sandwich and a half pound of Brisket. The sandwich was great, but the real showstopper was the Brisket. It was super moist with a bold peppery rub that had clearly been earned through hours of patience and smoke. This is the kind of brisket that makes you go quiet mid-bite. Chub's Blue Pig BBQ is, without question, one of the best, if not the best, BBQ spots I've hit in all of New England. It's the real deal: proper smoke, serious technique, and food that genuinely delivers on its reputation. I'll absolutely be back, and I'm bringing reinforcements next time. Highly, enthusiastically recommended.

The person behind the counter let me know that their menu changes weekly based on the what ingredients are in season and available. Another customer told me that everything is good and that I couldn't go wrong with whatever I selected. The items they sell are on the pricy side but absolutely worth it because of the quality ingredients they use in their baked goods. One bite and you can taste the difference. I like how most of their sweets have a nice crunch to it, but it's still moiste on the inside. I got a strawberry strudel today with fresh strawberries, soft-flaky center and what tasted like buttercream. I would highly recommend their pastry, but the coffee did fall flat to me. I've only had it once and it didn't do anything for me. We have so many good coffee shops in the neighborhood and never thought of coming back here for coffee. I will try their coffee again since it's been a while. The store is rather small, but it isn't intended on a dine in experience. I do like that you can see the chef in the back along with his partner in the front of the store. They are very nice people and super friendly. There's pop culture references papered all over the walls, an old school wooden bar and a small dining room that could double as an intimate event space Our bartender was super nice, he let us know what was available to order since the full kitchen wasn't open when we went. We were there for the wings anyway, as RI Food Fights brought us here. We got the Maple Bacon Bourbon wings, a side of fries and the giant pretzel The wings were good! Not super crispy but the glaze coated them well and clung to the wing nicely. The menu said they were smoked before they were fried, but outside of the generous amount of bacon bits that were part of the glaze, I didn't get much smoke in the meat itself. Otherwise, we liked the glaze. The fries are the more expensive, clear coat kind that hold their crisp longer, which I appreciate. They were great plain or with ketchup. The pretzel was warm and perfectly soft. The beer cheese that came with it was excellent. And the blue cheese dressing was as well that we got with the wings. It had a great blue cheese flavor without giant chunks of cheese. They also offer pizza and a number of handhelds that all looked interesting, so I'll have to come back soon when the full kitchen is open!
