I'm glad that I did I ordered the a la carte (buffet style) catering option from Simply Black and White for my wedding's rehearsal dinner. My folks are pretty easy going, so if the food wasn't the best it wouldn't have been a problem, but I'm sure I wouldn't have heard the end of it from her side of the family if the food was bad. Luckily, the food was great and Chef Ralph came in and set up everything on time and very quickly. This is what we ordered: Entree Spicy BBQ Beef Brisket (Awesome, I want more) Smoked Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions (Great, a classic) Calypso Shrimp Linguine (Awesome) Aruba Grilled Beef and Chicken Kabobs (Damn, I was very surprised at how well this was cooked, tender, juicy, and flavorful) Sides: Mediterranean Pasta Salad (Good) Potato Salad (Pretty basic, but still good) Bacon Baked Beans (I love baked beans, but they are baked beans so there's not much to say lol) I thought that the pricing was very reasonable, and we got a lot of great food for our dinner. We had planned on about 40 guests, but I think closer to 50 showed up. We had more than enough food, and plenty of left overs which were all devoured the next day (a testament to how good the food was I think). Chef Ralph offers quite a few different catering services from drop off buffet style to full service personal chef. I can only testify that the buffet style food was amazing and a reasonable price. Although the food and price were amazing, the experience wasn't completely perfect. I did have trouble navigating the website, and email, my preferred mode of communication, was a little slow. Given that these small nitpicks have nothing to do with the end product, the service and food, I can wholeheartedly recommend Simply Black and White Catering. My mouth is watering thinking about the BBQ Brisket right now. According to their website, Simply Black and White Catering serves all of Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and Eastern Rhode Island.

She had heard of this dude from some friends, and since my mother and I are very much into eating, drinking, and being merry, this was a perfect present. According to his press packet, we had the choice of hosting a dinner party, taking private culinary classes with Chris (knife skills, learning basic sauces, creating a meal step by step right beside him), or having him prepare us a series of meals for the week that he will package up and be ready for heating whenever we wanted. We didn't get around to scheduling something with Chris until November 2010. We decided to do a simple dinner party. Chris was super-easy to work with regarding scheduling, and then went over and above the necessary service in designing the perfect menu for our party of five. Despite a shellfish allergy, a nut allergy, one guy who doesn't eat most vegetables, and a mushroom hater -- he put together a menu that made all five of our mouths water. On the day of the party, he arrived at my mother's house three hours early to prep. At first, because she has an open kitchen, dining room, and living room set-up I thought it was going to be weird to have Chris cooking and all of us lounging around, chatting about everything from can-can dance to cancer, and drinking in his earshot. It couldn't have been better. Chris was personable, chill, and really easy to talk to PLUS he was a total ninja in the kitchen and prepared a four-course meal from scratch without so much as a clang of a pan. The best part: the food was INCREDIBLE! Appetizer: Sausage, peppers and white bean ragout over Asiago polenta Pasta: Penne alla Vodka - Penne tossed with pancetta in a light vodka tomato cream and topped with parmagiana. Entrée: Choice of Garlic and Fennel-Encrusted Filet Mignon topped with Gorgonzola and Pancetta Chip OR Veal Osso Buco in wine and tomatoes topped with gremolata Sides: Cabernet-Saffron Risotto, Rosemary-Honey Cream, Seared Garlicky Spinach Dessert: Cannoli di Ricotta with Espresso Sauce and Orange Marmellata The second best part: This cost $60 PER PERSON! (We also tipped Chris because we were so happy with the service. It is not required, but I can't imagine not tipping him. He was just so AWESOME!) Not only is working with Chris a pleasure, but he is a hugely talented chef that was more than willing to personalize his art and work to fit our goals, AND it's a great value! First he met with me and did an extensive interview about what I liked to eat, what I didn't like to eat and what I was willing to try. Every other week Chris would come to my condo on Monday while I was at work and prepare individual meals and leave them in my freezer. They were all labeled and ready to go. I would come home from work and pop one in the microwave and get to my schoolwork. The food was always amazing and and my kitchen looked better after he left than before he came...seriously. Not only did they cater a 100 guest buffet at an outdoor venue at a park in October, but they made food that was not even normally on their menu. We had asked if they could make some specialty Greek food for our wedding (my Wife's family is Greek), and Dave enthusiastically took it on. For weeks after the wedding, our guests kept mentioning how delicious all the food was. Even my wife's side of the family, who know authentic Greek food. We had souvlaki, rice with tomato sauce, potatoes with oregano, "village" Greek salad, and a bunch of other delicious items.
