(There are a couple of articles on the wall which give a bit of background to him and he was head chef at Wildfire, which explains a lot). We tried the chicken, pork shoulder, beef picanha (rump cap) and house made chorizo, with a side of sweet potato fries and assortment of salads and we left stuffed and very happy. The quality was amazing, on par with 'The Paddington' for literally a quarter of the price (really!). It's only just opened but there already seemed to be a bunch of regular locals loving it, and I can see why as we will definitely be going back. I'll be trying the burgers next time which looked as good as the rotisserie meat - they put 180 gram patties on them for less than $10?! Lastly, I can't finish without mentioning the sauces- they make them all In house and they are sensational. One in particular I asked about and the owner said he has trademarked it! Some smoky mayo or something I couldn't stop eating it. If you go you must try this. It is refreshing to see someone ticking so many boxes in one place- quality ingredients, fantastic prices and with the Brazilian twist it's a slightly different offering from what I've come to expect from a local take away shop, which is exactly what I have been looking for.

It is a vegetarian platter but I think most of it is actually vegan so even better. Loved the hommous, potatoes, and fried cauliflower so, so much. Only fault is I wish they gave more of the cauliflower and perhaps took away from something else. It was a very small portion, probably only about 2 pieces from memory and it is one of my all time fav Lebanese dishes so I was a tad disappointed. But everything else more than enough made up for it, and I was actually really surprised with the falafel because I have had so many bad encounters with it I was just pretty sure I hated it, but here it was incredible! Like really really good. They also give you so much bread so you will definitely be full and satisfied by the end of it. Highly recommend this platter. The waratenib was alright, the lemon was very overpowering and hard to notice much else, but it wasn't too bad. Service was also incredibly lovely, so it really did make for an enjoyable meal and evening all around.

Between my family and I we ordered the hummus and lamb, croquettes and lamb spring rolls for appetisers. For mains we enjoyed the pork belly, the duck leg, ocean trout, the lamb special and the octopus, as well as sides of polenta chips and broccolini. Finally, we finished off the meal with the flourless chocolate cake, the sticky fig pudding, the creme brûlée and the affogato. Every single meal we indulged in was extremely full filling and delicious as could be! The staff were more than happy to alter meals for my grandmas who can't handle chilli and our waitress seemed very happy and friendly. We will definitely be recommending Tru Blu to friends and definitely will be coming back for more!

Mum's 85th. EIGHTY FIVE!!! We loved Starfish in Avalon but…read moreit closed after many years and we lost our favourite place. So I was really happy to learn the Starfish chef had opened up a new place. But the Asian influence that was Starfish's signature has been replaced with Mediterranean. Thats a bit odd I thought to myself. And the name, I mean Tru Blu? Is it me and you? Is it a Cockatoo? Anyway when the old girl turned 85, sheesh, 85! we went to check it out. First thing, the lunch menu is not the dinner menu. I had looked on line and saw some great dishes but the lunch menu is more limited. I chose a Fraser Island crab omelette because I am not an idiot. Who wouldn't order a crab omelette? Winner. You really taste the crab and there's plenty of it. Very very good. Keeno had the scallops. Of course she did, thats like saying the sun came up, or that Donald Trump is a meathead. Mum also had the scallops and loved them but note its a small meal. So much so that my chippies disappeared very quickly. Margie and Zoe had Mirror Dory, a daily special and declared it good. The dips and the shared bits and pieces were the highlight. Sensational. The room is nice, although its an odd place to plop down a restaurant, and a far cry from Avalon, but its handy if you need to go to Bunnings afterwards which I did. I will definitely go back for dinner cos this bloke can really cook and I have my heart set on a tagine. Which won't be good for my heart but I bet it will be good for my soul. The service is fantastic, really friendly and happy. I still miss the Bugs that I used to get at Starfish, but therapy is helping.

Date of Visit: 6th January 2025…read more Our dining experience at Kazzi Greek Beach restaurant was terrible due to a serious food safety issue and inappropriate follow up from owner. My wife discovered a cockroach in her meal, either barbecued with the prawns or swimming in the halloumi and fig salad. The manager, Peter, moved us on quickly without charge and when I spoke to the owner later that day, his response was to minimise the issue, referencing his pest control bill, and swore at me when I suggested a goodwill donation to charity. On Google the owner wrote a completely misleading response in an attempt to discredit this review. It is untrue. I suggested he donate $1000 to a charity for the less fortunate. He offered $50. When I said that was a poor response he proceeded to swear at me over the phone calling me an f....ing moron and accusing me of blackmail. His response is a tactic designed to minimise and discredit which I note he has done to other poor reviews to his restaurant, One person found a piece of metal in their food. Clearly there is a problem. Look at the photos
